NAIAS: The Truck of the Year & The Interceptors

East New York

Recommended Posts

The Explorer comes back for 2011 to reclaim the throne.

This truck launched the SUV category 20 years ago. Shot to the top as the #1 selling SUV on the planet, was marred by the Firestone scandal, then went right back to the top, where it has been ever since.

Ford Trucks are unparalleled. The entire line-up including cars is now complete with the safest, most reliable, most fuel efficient, and most advanced vehicles on the road today. Any Ford vehicle built after 2003 is projected to last until the wheels fall off. No more Fixed Or Repaired Daily!

I met a guy at the Auto Show who has 846,000 miles on his F-150, and another guy why has 277,000 miles on his Explorer.

Nice photos. That slick top just doesn't fit the "cop car" mold, but doesn't look bad. On the other hand, the marked RMPs just don't look right. I know the slick top and the marked unit are the same car, but a marked unit should look like it has balls. And the one piece front end, PIT a car with that and it's done for. Now, are these cars pusuit rated or are they just being marketed as police cars, like the Lumina and Altima were?

The only Ford I'll ever like is the Crown Vic... but no, America's tree hugging government is forcing these off the streets. As much as I like the Nissans and Toyotas slowly taking over the TLC fleet, they're just not built to handle NYC's rough roads and they don't pack enough punch when that rare stretch of open road pops up.

Overseas, in the UK and Australia, they get all the cool Fords. Look up the Ford RS200, Escort Cosworth (or anything with Ford and Cosworth in it), the Falcon, and the Ford Cosworth DFV engine.
