The Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be returning to New York City. The Metropolitans have won the 2013 All-Star Game to be played at Citi Field, Sports Illustrated is reporting on their web site.

This will be the Metropolitans' second All-Star Game. Their first was in 1964 when Shea Stadium was brand new and the R33/R36 World's Fair cars in aquamarine and cream were brand new on the (7)<7> Flushing (Corona) Line.

They hold the longest drought of any franchise. By contrast, the Yankees have hosted the All-Star Game four times at Yankee Stadium (1977 and 2008 since the Metropolitans were founded in 1962). the Baseball Giants hosted the All-Star Game twice at the Polo Grounds and the Dodgers hosted the All-Star Game at Ebbets Field once (1949). The 2013 All-Star Game will be the ninth in New York City since it was first held in 1933.

In 2011, the All-Star Game will be hosted by the Arizona DiamondBacks at Chase Fied and in 2012 by the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium.
