EE Broadway Local Posted January 30, 2011 Share #1 Posted January 30, 2011 The Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be returning to New York City. The Metropolitans have won the 2013 All-Star Game to be played at Citi Field, Sports Illustrated is reporting on their web site. This will be the Metropolitans' second All-Star Game. Their first was in 1964 when Shea Stadium was brand new and the R33/R36 World's Fair cars in aquamarine and cream were brand new on the Flushing (Corona) Line. They hold the longest drought of any franchise. By contrast, the Yankees have hosted the All-Star Game four times at Yankee Stadium (1977 and 2008 since the Metropolitans were founded in 1962). the Baseball Giants hosted the All-Star Game twice at the Polo Grounds and the Dodgers hosted the All-Star Game at Ebbets Field once (1949). The 2013 All-Star Game will be the ninth in New York City since it was first held in 1933. In 2011, the All-Star Game will be hosted by the Arizona DiamondBacks at Chase Fied and in 2012 by the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium.
