East New York 4,104 Posted June 2, 2008 Share #1 Posted June 2, 2008 MNR Route 7 Roadwork Means Buses on the Danbury Branch This Weekend. Installation of culverts under the railroad tracks in Wilton as part of the Route 7 Project necessitates the use of buses for Danbury Branch train service this weekend, MTA Metro-North Railroad announced. From Saturday, June 7 through Sunday, June 8, buses will follow the train schedule. About 260 people use the Danbury Branch each weekend day on six trains in each direction. The Connecticut Department of Transportation will do an open cut excavation at Wilton as part of its project to widen Route 7. While the track is out of service for two days, Metro-North will take advantage of the hiatus to begin grade crossing improvements at Kent Road in Georgetown and replacement of the foundations of a small bridge over a small stream in Wilton. This work could not be achieved on a daily or nightly outage. Normal train service will resume Monday morning, June 9. Does anyone know who supplies the shuttle buses for these runs? trainfan22 2,233 Posted June 3, 2008 Share #2 Posted June 3, 2008 Most likely CT transit will supply the buses for this G.O. And shortline might throw some buses in there too.
East New York 4,104 Posted June 3, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted June 3, 2008 Yeah because I know MTA buses can't go up there, but I wasn't sure who's turf it was because it's outside of my MTA region.
