Then again I'mttalkin . Of the s66 runs when The 8A are not running

That's like once mid day and then any run after 4:45. 

 

I in the contrary did. See a couple of passengers heading to sccc riverhea. ..even i saw the same girl who bboarded in the morning s66 at the evening run

 

I never said that people didn't use the stop. Just that I never saw anyone so I couldn't gage how many people use the stop. Though I figure it's probably far less the SCCC-Selden since I don't think they offer as many classes at the Riverhead location as they do at Selden.

 

Though I said that, that was the practice for the early S66 which is the 5:35 AM. It really dark up around that area before the sun rises. Not to mention when turning into SCCC-Riverhead the driver would be turning into the rising sun.  Also it was only seemed like one particular driver that did it throughout the day, not all drivers and again only when heading to Riverhead not from Riverhead.

Ohhhh i get it now

 

I've been in the s66 that enter SCCC but after 445pm and virtually all s66 heading to riverhead enter the campus

 

I nevernoticed the university to be small i saw it kinda big..then again only two routes enter this campus the hourly s66 and bihourly s8A

 

Speaking of selden if im not wrong the s58 access that campus

Yeah all the S66's I've ridden on coming from Riverhead has always stopped at the College. Any time I took the S66 to Riverhead it was always the first one (5:35 AM from Patchouge) and that driver never stopped at the College unless there was someone on board that wanted to go there. Which the times I rode it there wasn't. 

 

The SCCC- Riverhead campus is also shared with some other University, LIU or something. Though the Selden Campus is alot bigger, it has like three or four buildings while the Riverhead Campus has one or two buildings (Or at least that's accessible to SCCC-Riverhead), and offers I believe a lot more classes then the Riverhead Campus.

Yes the S58 accesses the Selden Campus along with the S63, S71, 6A, and 6B. That access though is only when the campus is open. When it's closed for holidays and such the buses drop off in front of the gates.

I don't blame the s58 access to selden as a waste of time on the contrary it is quickly. ..the waste of time is in the smithtown coram and especially Smith haven mall. ..then again the length of the s58 is very long is like riding the MTA. S78 round trip. ..that route is almost like riding Suffolk county pole to pole. ..i just dont like that two hour gap in the midday

 

I would guess that SCCC riverhead favors for people of the east end then again one can come as far as east Hampton sag Harbour to riverhead and transfer to the s58 (unless you arrive during the two hour gap then is a new fare)

 

To must riverhead is a very popular bus stop as it is a mayor linking point to must the most important bus transfer since it links theeast end to the west...yeah Smith haven mall coram patchogue Hauppauge bay shore and Walt Whitman mall are mayor transfer point . But riverhead holds to me as very important. ..but the poor coordination can result to one be stranded. ..luckily there's the nearby RR station

 

Take it from me riverhead county ctr is pretty in the daytime but at night is like a ghost town and very scary to be at.,.after the last s92 leaves riverhead to the hamptons is all solid bricks ...anything can occur and no one's there to help. Yeepers

This topic kinda took over the thread that for the roster and roster moves only. I think you you want to continue this you should make your own thread

The S58 never use to be as long as it is. When the route was created it went from East Northport to Middle Island. Back around 2000 Suffolk County, in one of two moves that made access to Riverhead County Center better, extended the S58 to Riverhead to ease the overcrowding that was happening on the S62 on it's runs to Riverhead from Smith Haven Mall.

The waste of time is specifically the traffic on NYS 25 (Middle Country Road AKA Jericho Turnpike) from around Smithtown to Coram. As someone who knows that area pretty well. the traffic gets really backed especially during rush hour.

So the s58 congestion is quite similar to the s92 congestion in the hamptons as NYS 27 is the only route out of the hamptons and especially the over congested nys 114 in Sag Harbour is a killer

 

I think this mini thread started because of the wondering of the s92 andhow it makes a dehead from a point sooo far away hehe but yea sorry i was to put a new thread of s92 garage but hey not accustomed to forums very well. :(

Yesterday Suffolk has started using a Para Transit bus on the 7A. Heard Para Transit bus 2009 Coach and Equipment #2948 was being used.

The s76 also is to be using the para transit type vehicles. ..last October i saw a flyer promoting the use of those type of vehicles for that specific route. ..in that same route i saw that attention towards the modification of the s66 in the mastic area

Yeah I heard about that. Not sure if it has started on all routes or just the 7A right now. 5A is supposedly suppose to get them along with the 7D/E.

It works fairly well on those routes since they seldom get pack up with no seating

 

I exclude the 3D since that route is heavy for a feeder route and runs a long distance

Here are a couple of observations that I noticed yesterday...

 

Orion 07.502 #1061 was operating on the S58 yesterday morning. I saw it leaving the Riverhead LIRR Station heading to Huntington Square Mall. My thing is according to your roster, either #1061 is a bus move to CBS OR #1061 got a head start on the "Sunday Service" from Ronkonkoma (Suffolk Bus Corp). I should have looked at the bottom of the bus to see if that had changed.

 

Also, while traveling on NYS 24 (County Road 94) just south of the Riverhead Courthouses, I saw Gillig Phantom #5014 coming from Downtown Riverhead heading towards the courthouses. Now normally if it's coming from that direction (especially on a SATURDAY), that tells me that it came from the Riverhead LIRR Station. Now according to your roster, you have #5014 listed at Ronkonkoma. So either this bus was operating on the S58 OR there was another bus move at this bus was operating on the S62 (CBS). What made me question this was the fact that I saw #5014 on the S66 before the cuts and I know the S66 does not serve the train station.

 

Anyways, I saw both of these events yesterday. Keep up the great work on the roster!

It could have been bus moves. Buses at Ronkonkoma and Coram yards share the same colored circle an from what I heard are sometimes routinely between the two yards.

 

However the Coarm yard may not be up to date as I'm not sure what routes are operated out of there. I only know of the s58 because someone found that out from a driver. I got the s62 there due to I believe one of the buses said to have been used on the s58 being used a short time later on the s62, or a video of a bus leaving the Coram yard with the s62 sign on.

 

Ironically 1061 use to be assigned to the s58 under CBS Lines, with some time spent on the s60, however it was replaced by either 1031, 1037, or 1038 when Suffolk Bus Corp took over the route.

So the s71 was fairly young to compare its death a month ago

 

Yes. Until the s76 was started, it was the last route created. 

As of 11/5/16 

 

5053 is OOS since accident on 4/18/14 

5076 is OOS after being involved in an accident 7/20/15 

Para Transit bus 2807 is OOS with Extensive front end damage. 

1010 is OOS due to an accident 9/30/15

5058 is OOS due to an accident on the LIE on 9/27/16

Para Transit bus 1205 is OOS due to an accident in Riverhead 11/4/16

Hey Mac!

 

 

Looks like another bus move. Yesterday (11/12) I saw #1073 on the S62. It still had "Suffolk Bus Corp" on the bottom BUT the S62 is out of Coram according to the roster.

 

I'm alos noticing more and more "baby" buses on the S92...preferably #1080-1081 during the daytime. Could this be due to the recent cuts with extra buses lying around?

I'm actually starting to think that it's possible there are more buses and routes at the Coram Yard then thought since Suffolk Bus Corp sister Company Suffolk Transportation Service was sold the Hauppauge School District Contract and has those School Buses in the Ronkonkoma Transit Yard, taking up alot of the space that use to be used by the Transit buses.
 

Fact is though that I'm not sure the whole assignment of buses between the Coram and Ronkonkoma Yard now. Even though I haven't made the change, I think it's possible the S110 is out of the Coram Yard. It was possible, and more likely that, the 5A had been out of the Coram Yard when it was cut. 

 

It's probably because of the cuts. 1081 was the bus that was assigned to the 10DE most of the time. Also I still have 1010 listed as OOS so that could be a reason as well.
