mysterd429 Posted April 10, 2012 Share #1 Posted April 10, 2012 Hi all. I was in Middle Village over the weekend and I took the M into Manhattan. I noticed at the Myrtle Avenue stop this device with a bunch of buttons on the platform between the center track and the Queens-bound track. It was about eight to ten feet above the platform, and it had several buttons, marked "M", "J", "Z", and "M-Line", as well as lights, what looks like a speaker, and a label "MOTA", which may have been put there by some feckless youth I couldn't take a picture. My father guessed that the device could control the interlocking to route trains along any of the lines. Ideas? Thanks!
azspeedbullet Posted April 10, 2012 Share #2 Posted April 10, 2012 most likely they use those button for the switches so the trains end up on the right tracks

TwoTimer Posted April 11, 2012 Share #5 Posted April 11, 2012 A punch box. Unless the tower knows without a shadow of a doubt who you are (like weekends when the M doesnt go to Manhattan and its only J service coming in on the outside), you much punch a route to get out of Bway-Myrtle. Brighton Express Posted April 12, 2012 Share #6 Posted April 12, 2012 They got plenty of them around the system. I believe they still have one at Prospect Park saying .
Kamen Rider Posted April 12, 2012 Share #7 Posted April 12, 2012 is the least of their problems. 59th/CC still has the K listed. then there is also the ever popular "What you punch is what you get" sign at 47th-50th, which of all things dave P doesn't have a picture of.
