Joel Up Front Posted October 4, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 4, 2013 I understand the MSBA (not LIB, they wouldn't adopt the name until 1994) made some route changes, but the only one I can think of now is the N4 being rerouted to Jamaica Center when that opened in 1988. Are there any other major ones?
Q43LTD Posted October 6, 2013 Share #2 Posted October 6, 2013 The N5 being discontinued. That's all I can think of.

Amtrak7 Posted October 7, 2013 Share #5 Posted October 7, 2013 There's been snippets of old MSBA maps posted (1963, 1975) and a complete 1984. Some changes I see from the 2009 system... N78 was not named such, it was an N79 branch. N26 did not exist N35 was split into N35/37 1975...a lot of numbering was different, but here's some segments of street that had service that don't today: -Levittown Pkwy/Stewart Av from Old Country to Carman -Tailor Ln/Constable Ln/Bloomingdale Rd/Farmedge Rd from Jerusalem to 107 -11 St/Westminster Rd from Franklin Av to Hempstead Av -Center Ln from Hempstead Tpk to N Jerusalem Rd -Others...let's just say Nassau east of Rt 106 looks very different
Vistausss Posted October 7, 2013 Share #6 Posted October 7, 2013 -The N28 was also killed under the MSBA. -The N3 also. -A route from Hicksville Broadway Mall to Oyster Bay was killed by MSBA. -They changed the routing of the N70, it used to be a loop route. -The N53 got killed. -The N69 was transferred to Long Beach Bus in 1984. -The N67 got killed. N6 Limited Posted October 7, 2013 Share #7 Posted October 7, 2013 Do you know the routing of the n70 loop?
Vistausss Posted October 7, 2013 Share #8 Posted October 7, 2013 @n6l: Not into detail because I wasn't even born back then lol. But Wikipedia says: "NOTE: The N70 under Stage Coach was a loop route from Hempstead to Levittown, Bellmore, Wantagh and back to Hempstead." Vistausss Posted October 7, 2013 Share #9 Posted October 7, 2013 As for the N28 and N3: alright, I got those wrong. But the N53 was introduced way before 2002. Jerusalem Avenue Bus Line was the one who created the N53 and it was killed some time after MSBA took over. It could be that they introduced a new N53 in 2002 but fact is that the old N53 got killed by MSBA.
PinePower Posted October 8, 2013 Share #10 Posted October 8, 2013 There were some letter suffix routes too, like an N72A/B/C, some of them served Levittown including Center Lane. Not sure on the exact routing. There was also an N83 which ran down N.Jerusalem Rd where today's n50 & n46 run in East Meadow/N.Bellmore.

Amtrak7 Posted October 9, 2013 Share #12 Posted October 9, 2013 Why did the Levittown residential area (Constable Ln, Center Ln, today's peak N73) get so much service?
N6 Limited Posted October 9, 2013 Share #13 Posted October 9, 2013 I think Long Island had more bus service coverage in the past because if a family had a car, it was usually just one car, and the other spouse used public transportation.

If only we could go back to those days, traffic would sure be alot better!
Joel Up Front Posted October 11, 2013 Author Share #15 Posted October 11, 2013 The original terminal at RFM was right next to the Macy's before 2001, wasn't it?
