fanrailerz Posted October 25, 2015 Share #1 Posted October 25, 2015 Hi I was just wondering how does LIRR school forms work? Can someone explain here? Ty
Truckie Posted October 25, 2015 Share #2 Posted October 25, 2015 Full details are on the MTA/LIRR website. Basically, student under age of 21 attending elementary or secondary school. Only good for travel to and from school from the stations indicated on the pass.
Joel Up Front Posted October 26, 2015 Share #3 Posted October 26, 2015 I don't know of too many schools withing spitting distance of LIRR stations these days - and the one I can think of that's even NEAR anything has been closed since 1993 - and the ones in the boroughs are probably far better served by NYCT anyway. Truckie Posted October 26, 2015 Share #4 Posted October 26, 2015 In my experience, on Metro North, the majority of kids with student monthly especially are those going to private schools (Fordham Prep being one of the larger ones). Some of the ones in Metro North territory have shuttles to bring the kids to and from the train and school. I would imagine things would be similar on Long Island. LIRR 154 Posted October 27, 2015 Share #5 Posted October 27, 2015 There are a good amount of students and teachers getting off at LIC.
78 via Stew Leonards Posted October 27, 2015 Share #6 Posted October 27, 2015 I used to take Metro North to white plains for Stepinac HS. what you do is pick up a yellow form (may be at your school, or you may have to pick it up at a train station). You fill out your name, address. phone number, school, school address, what stations you will be traveling to and get your school to stamp their logo on there. Then you hand it in at the station booth to buy a student pass for the month.
bobtehpanda Posted October 27, 2015 Share #7 Posted October 27, 2015 I know that at downtown schools like Stuyvesant HS, it's fairly common for those coming from Queens Village or Bayside, Douglaston and Little Neck to buy a pass.
