Poorly Placed Timers...6 SB into 125

Headin Southbound on the 6 into 125...The train picks up good speed and then slows down dramatically right b4 it enters the station and then crawls to a stop ...cant tell u how many 4/5 expresses have been missed if the Conductor dosent wait...Is this really needed? Imagine the delays such a timer would cuase on the Express side?

There's switches on both ends of the station that needs protecting. That's why the timers are there

Yes that timer is needed. It was installed about 2 years ago. If a southbound 6 is being rerouted to the express track and the train behind it should overrun that automatic it will prevent a rear end collision. The same reason one was placed on the southbound local track entering 42nd TSQ on the 1.
