Globetrotter Posted October 27, 2016 #1 Posted October 27, 2016 My brother took the Train Operator test back in 2009 and scored 71. His number is over 10,000 on the list. A few days ago, he received a notice in the mail that stated the following: Congratulations. You have been found qualified in the education and experience test for: Examination Title: TRAIN OPERATOR Examination No: XXXX Group No: XX Why did they send him this notice, and what exactly does it mean? Are they planning on hiring him anytime soon? He took this test 7 years ago. Why would they be sending him this now, if not to hire him?
elantra06 Posted October 27, 2016 #2 Posted October 27, 2016 Wow I got that letter from DCAS back in 2011 then was hired in 2012. They sent that out really late. I thought that was sent out to everyone on the list already. It means exactly what it says. It's just stating that he met the education and experience requirements for the exam. Then the waiting game begins. Once NYCT reaches his list number he will get a letter from them offering him the job with the date/time to report to 180 Livingston to begin processing (background, drugtesting and medical exam).
Globetrotter Posted October 28, 2016 Author #3 Posted October 28, 2016 Thanks. I guess my brother shouldn't get his hopes up too high, then. I suspect he won't get called at all, given that his list number is so high.
tprashad0719 Posted October 28, 2016 #4 Posted October 28, 2016 ^ you'd be surprise the amount of people failing , arrest record or cant even pass the drug test, the list is moving QUICK, plus a lot of people are not taking the job as well after they thought the job is not just going up and down the tracks, there is so much involved with the title
Globetrotter Posted October 28, 2016 Author #5 Posted October 28, 2016 The list expires September, 2017. My brother says that he called and was told that they're up to number 9,700. His list number is over 10,700. Do you think he stands a reasonable chance of getting called?
tprashad0719 Posted October 28, 2016 #6 Posted October 28, 2016 wow sept 2017, he will def get called
Globetrotter Posted October 28, 2016 Author #7 Posted October 28, 2016 wow sept 2017, he will def get called Hope you're right. He doesn't know what to do, go West to find a job, or wait until the MTA calls him.
tprashad0719 Posted October 28, 2016 #8 Posted October 28, 2016 if this list expire on sept 2017 as you stated he will def get called
SubwayGuy Posted October 31, 2016 #9 Posted October 31, 2016 It doesn't mean anything. All it means was he wasn't disqualified on education/experience. When he gets the letter saying to come in, that's the one that counts.
Globetrotter Posted November 5, 2016 Author #10 Posted November 5, 2016 It doesn't mean anything. All it means was he wasn't disqualified on education/experience. When he gets the letter saying to come in, that's the one that counts. I'm just wondering why it took them so long to send him this.
SubwayGuy Posted November 9, 2016 #11 Posted November 9, 2016 Because his list number is so high. They verify education/experience for people who passed the test in list number order.
Will-Bx-718 Posted November 11, 2016 #12 Posted November 11, 2016 I'd advise him to go west instead of waiting to see if TA calls him. At least then he could weigh his options, instead of staying stagnant. Station Supervisor Level I
SubwayGuy Posted November 12, 2016 #13 Posted November 12, 2016 Well since the new test will be filing next month, he might as well put in for that one and try to score better on the test.
