Harry 1,088 Posted August 29, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 29, 2007 After the construction on the was complete, the train ran at a very slow speed through the site. It rolled through at about 5-10 mph. Even at that speed it sounded like we were going through a very tight turn screeching on by. It sounded like the rails weren't broken in. It was like that for at least three to four days. By the end of the week we were moving through at the usual 15-25 mph without the screeching. This week it feels like nothing ever happened. Brighton Local 703 Posted August 29, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 29, 2007 cool. thats a good thing knowing that the Nancy's tracks were replaced, and everythings good. I hear, for some upcoming weekends, the Q will be getting Shuttle buses between ATlantic Av and Propsect Pk... Trackwork At Atlantic Av. Which means the Q will operate in 2 sections: 57 St / 7 Av & / or Times Square and the Pacific St D/N Station and between Prospect PK & Stillwell-Coney Isl via Brighton Shuttle
Pablo M 201 35 Posted August 29, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 29, 2007 Good to hear Harry, thanks for the heads up. And oh goody, shuttles. It looks like the Sept 8th trip will just have to go down and up Culver.

Didn't you just love that grinding noise of steel wheels on fresh new steel rails?
Harry 1,088 Posted August 29, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted August 29, 2007 Yes I did. It was different grinding sound actually. Not really like taking a tight turn but something like the rails were a bit narrower than they're supposed to be. On todays commute, again, the noise was completely gone.
