jason95491 Posted November 8, 2022 Share #1 Posted November 8, 2022 Hello, I took the MTA Assistant Conductor test last year and the math portion I wasn't prepared for. I haven't done math in years. I did not pass the test but was prepared for everything else. I've been called back for the MTa (Metro North not LIRR) exam once again. Does anyone know what I should prep for this exam in regards to math? I know last year they had questions on tickets, mom, dad, kids, peak and off peak etc.
2ride Posted November 8, 2022 Share #2 Posted November 8, 2022 Basic reading and mathematics. Add subtract multiply and divide. Brush up on them if you need to.
jason95491 Posted November 8, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted November 8, 2022 Anything specific? Any guides out there for specific questions I could study?

Like 2ride said, just brush up on addition, multiplication and subtraction. You don't really need division tbh. I think Metro-North's exam is slightly harder because they test your addition with any digit of numbers 0-9) and with the LIRR it's 0's and 5's.
Lawrence St Posted November 9, 2022 Share #5 Posted November 9, 2022 I always tell people this, on the math portion if you come across a problem you don’t know, skip it.
jason95491 Posted November 10, 2022 Author Share #6 Posted November 10, 2022 Thank you. Yes, a lot of questions about fare changes on board (different than off the train), peak and off peak. I know one question was figure out the off peak price. They gave us 22 minutes for 22 questions when I took it last year.
2ride Posted November 10, 2022 Share #7 Posted November 10, 2022 I think it’s difficult to get the job offer as an external versus internals who are already employed with the MTA.
jason95491 Posted November 10, 2022 Author Share #8 Posted November 10, 2022 Yes, I've now been called twice for the test. Last year and now. They give you a study packet but the packet is just for definitons which I still remember. Metro North is a great job so it would be great to be employed with them.

The thing that is more messed up and ridiculous is getting in as their cleaner is also hard. Edited November 10, 2022 by 2ride
