MDBF of NYCT & MTAB Buses

Recommended Posts

I asked a simliar question around september about the depots with the best maintenance and I'm wondering about another. Statistically, which buses break down the least and/or the most. The RTS (one of my favorites) are getting older, so I don't exactly expect them to be at the top (probably the middle) and obviously the MTA's new standout fleet is the hybrids. Any information (even some opinion) will be appreciated. Thanks

The most relible bus in the fleet is the OG Orion VII with 9,000 miles before failure. Second most reilble are the Nova RTS however I don't remeber the exact number. The least reible buses in the fleet are the older Orion V's and Artics.

The most reliable fleet, right now is MCI buses in the ten thousand range MDBF. Second would be the Orion VII Hybrids (2004-2007). Third would be the Orion VII CNG and New Flyer C40LF. Then RTS and Orion V.
