I still feel it is not so safe in ChinaTown... I feel the neighbors I metioned has best deals in best areas around New York... Forest Hills area is perfect for railfanning... Speedy LIRR, (E)(F)(V)(G)(R) and Busses...

You really need to get out more. I've gone there often, and i never not feel safe.

One. I NEVER ADVOCATED LIVING IN CHINATOWN.

Two. CHINATOWN HAS LOW CRIME RATES COMPARED WITH THE OTHER WARDS AND DISTRICTS IN MANHATTAN OR OTHER BOROUGHS.

Three. The Chinatown area is a good ground for railfanning and busfanning. There is the M15 fork at East Broadway, you have the M9, the M22, RTS aplenty. You have long distance coaches. You have the B, D, F, J, M, N, Q, R, W, Z and 6. There are several stations to choose from. You? You only have one.

Four. There NO GANGS that will take your money or use you as a punching bag.

Five. Instead of sitting in front of the screen like you do every night, you should go out and explore the city. I do city exploring frequently, and alone too. I have no fear.

I feel safe during the Day but not between 8:00PM and 6:00AM...

You are just making a joke out of yourself. If you say Chinatown is not safe between 8 PM to 6AM, then the entire city is not safe during those twilight hours. And what proof do you got in saying that it is not safe? Huh? Where's the proof? You read the blotter from the 5th precinct everyday or something? Look at South Bronx... every night it is a crusade. Same with Brownsville or Ridgewood or Jamaica. Chinatown is a heaven compared to those hells.

And believe me, I walked around Chinatown in the twilight hours. Not scary at all. It is not so bad that you need the police to escort you home.

May I ask something.....this young man is talking about moving to New York city and finding a decent apartment. What in sam's hell it got with crime in neighborhoods? Pls explain this one to me!

He did ask about good spots, but you are right, the topic is not crime problems.

Safty dude, it is Safty...

NYC is by far one of the safest out of the top 25 largest cities in the world. It has bad spots, sure, but in reality the criminal activity is hardly EVER noticed and is mostly related to petty crimes, organized crime, and drugs. Even my backwoods town has some crime, mostly traffic related, but some drug activity too.

I have to agree on this one. NYC has a pretty good record in terms of safety. Certain cities/met areas have bad reputation because of the crime. I'm sure you all heard about the area around the Beltway.

Never mind, you just like your neighbor don't ya... I don't want to argue any further... It is making this thread a joke, :P...

I don't like my neighbourhood at all, but I defend with reason. I don't use assumptions and speculations.

Well, I would rather live somewhere more safe than worry about break-ins and robbery... I know NYC is one of the safest cities around the Globe but still live in SAFE areas...

Things happen anywhere, any time... the world isn't perfect. Not a single corner of the world is crime free.

2 and a half days, wow. I am so close to starting my journey to NYC. The next 3 days we will be having a yard sale and all the while putting our items into the U-Haul trailer we rented. Gah, so close!

Oooooh! Where are you living?
