Maserati7200 Posted April 19, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 19, 2009 Lately, in the last 10-20 years Only IND and IRT, and post-unification cars are on the Fantrips/events. Why is that? I've seen pictures on nycsubway.org of BMT Standards and Triplexes on fantrips in the 60's, 70's, and early 80's. Why can't they go on Fan trips now? When was the last time a BMT car went on a Fantrip, really?

Art Vandelay Posted April 19, 2009 Share #3 Posted April 19, 2009 The last time a BMT train went on a fantrip was in 2004, when the Triplex train showed up to, and broke down on the way to, the pageant of trains. The last successful trip of BMT cars were the triplexes in 2003.

Amtrak7 Posted April 20, 2009 Share #7 Posted April 20, 2009 Could it be due to the Canarsie Line CBTC installation?
Y2Julio Posted April 20, 2009 Share #8 Posted April 20, 2009 Could it be due to the Canarsie Line CBTC installation? What would that have anything to do with it? The is an isolated line.
SubwayGuy Posted April 20, 2009 Share #9 Posted April 20, 2009 Because the cars are not currently in a state of good repair/restoration. There is a group that works on the museum fleet in Coney Island yard and there are some standards being worked on down there. The Triplexes were covered above. While running fantrips is nice, they will not do it unless it is completely safe to do so. The other issue is they need enough cars to run a reasonably sized train when they finally are ready for service again someday because demand to ride these cars will be high as they have not run in a few years
