  1. Nope it is NJT's originally it is to separate the monclair and morristown abilities and travel markets

Where is your source for that? Last time i checked the Morristown line is not being extended, instead refurbished. I mapped the rail line at Phillipsburg and sure there is a freight line that goes to the Morristown & Montclair but another line is on the RVL. Look it up

  2. I would do it as first one line that merges the DINKY into a full line by itself via south Brunswick to whiting initially. With improved 135 service connecting with trains. Phase 2 will create 2 lines thus rerouting the princeton MOM line to Red

Bank with the Aberdeen or preferably the south Amboy ROW as it won't render 135 useless cause NJ79 is a corridor that will go to whiting in the phase 1 line's place.

1st priority The easiest improvements will be the cape may line as the hotels and tourism industry wold gladly fund it to philly. Then it can through route to west trenton under a deal with SEPTA then continuing onward to bound brook for links to RVL. Killing 2 birds with 1 stone.

3rd priority linking the morristown line to phillipsburg

    2nd is MOM

intermittent a Bus on shoulder program for the GSP and XBL on GSP both directions at PM and AM rush from bloomfield to redbank new routes first then later they get merged with others to consolidate resources and maximize farebox revenue. This very concept was what caught their attention.

Your proposal to connect phillipsburg to the Morristown line is a bad one. I guess you aren't aware of the reopening of the Cut-Off that will bring service to PA (giving funding is available to extend it past MOS 2). Plus it will add more passengers on both the Morris & Essex and Montclair-Booton lines. So that's a no go

There has been a proposal to extend the RVL to Phillipsburg but no funding is secure to study the idea

  3. Okay I have an idea that could bring some more revenue to NJ Transit. How does paying on board the bus with your credit/debit card sound? Basically it works like this: You board and there is a PIN pad next to the fare box where you slide your card and enter the PIN number, then it will display "Payment Successful" or "Card declined. Please Swipe Again". It won't take away the ability to pay with cash though, it just makes the boarding process a little more convenient for those who don't carry cash with them. I

There is a similar program in Jersey City, called tap n go or whatever on select routes

  4. I have been away for some time, but now i had spare time to catch up. I seen proposals for many different routes and what not. i agree with some ideas, others left me scratching my head wondering WTF. So ill get to it

About the 56/57: those routes do need a boost badly. As a former commuter on those lines, being around route 1&9 in the Linden/Elizabeth corridor is scary, especially crossing it. The 57 used to be dead but with the opening of the movie theater in Linden it has gained a bit. Not too sure about the 56 but i agee on the fact that those routes need to be extended. The 57 should be extended to Rahway via 1&9 on some trips as a test, see how ridership goes. As for the 56, im not sure where to put that one. Even though it does serve Winfield on 3 trips on weekdays.

I heard an idea for a route to serve Bayonne - Newark. Sounds great on paper, question is where do you map it. Avenue C, JFK Blvd, Broadway? Throw some ideas and we shall go from there

  5. where in SI should such a route go?

when i first proposed the idea, i was thinkin about how the SI railway only goes north and south. there is no rail in the western part of the island and how the main station is St. Georges Ferry Terminal Station. i didnt pay mind about the travelers who live near the Goethals Bridge, which is much closer to JG

  6. Smart ideas. Port Richmond to Newark Penn via Jersey Gardens, IKEA, and the airport. That'll get a ton of ridership. I personally think that on routes where both states' riders will benefit, they should be operated by one of the PBLs (in this case probably Coach USA) with equal funding from both states.

i guess academy is out, so coach usa should operate the route. NABIs or MCIs?

  7. whoever said about Woodbridge Mall not being a cash cow is dead on. But Jersey Gardens is one (no taxes for the shop addicts lol), and i know there are some people from SI who go there that have told me they wished there was either a shuttle or a new line for that.

Just imagine the commute (for those who don't have a car to commute):

take the SI railway to the ferry, ferry to Manhattan, the 1 subway line to WTC, transfer there for the PATH to NWK, take NEC or NJCL to Elizabeth, then take Coach USA 24 to mall. That alone looks painful (for your wallet that is) and thats just one way.

Or instead of getting off at WTC, take the 1 subway line up to 42nd st to PABT and transfer there for the 111

  8. For the 139,

You have the full 139 Lakewood via Freehold Mall/Center

    then

    139 Old Bridge P/R Only

    139 Union Hill P/R

    139 Freehold Center

    139 Howell Twp/Casino Dr

    139 Howell Twp/Aldrich Rd

Then you have a couple of 139s that start at Freehold Center and run down to Lakewood. I'm assuming these are put ins from Howell.

at least that takes care of the confusion there

  9. Suggestions/ Ideas and Proposals:

    161 (New York - Paterson)

    - 24 hour route with 2 hour headways on weekday nights, 2.5 hour headways on weekend nights to and from New York.

    - More weekday service between (6-9am) from New York via Union City to Teterboro or Paterson (via Washington Avenue), buses get packed!

    - Better spacing between buses from Route 46 (Teterboro) to Union City/New York, serious bunching issues after 4pm, some buses have 9 people on it, I have seen one bus with 92+ fare collections.

10 (Bayonne - Jersey City (Journal Square))

    - Begin a run from Staten Island at the intersection of Forest Avenue/Richmond Avenue via Morningstar to JFK all the way to Journal Square. The bus would run every 2-4 hours on weekdays/weekdays. It would also be a 3rd intrastate zone with Richmond/Forest being the only stop on Staten Island. Personally, I think there is demand based on personal observation of increased interstate passengers on the s89, specifically folks going from Staten Island to Bayonne.

Hypothetical 388 (Staten Island - Newark Airport - Newark Penn Station)

    - Begin an airport bus route, route would be the underutilized Outerbridge P&R (so folks can park cars for a nominal fee (not $24 hours per day ) up Richmond (K War Vets) Parkway to Eltingville Transit Center (transfer point for passengers from local buses, no long term parking) and then Showplace P&R (another pay parking lot).

    - One stop in Elizabeth before 1/9 to stops at Terminals A, B, C.

    - End stop in Newark Penn Station bus lanes (additional option for passengers going to/from EWR).

    - Fare would be $10 and equipment used would be MCI's

Very interesting proposals for the 10 and a suggested new route. Staten Island seems to be a place that has mass potencial for transit. NJT should capitalize on it

  10. another that ive noticed: since NJT split the 39 to create the 30, service on that route has been great but there have been cases where i seen people walking from the walmart and they have complained about how the 43 was created to serve the employees of the USPS warehouse there instead of being also conscious of the walmart there. but thats just me speaking
