  1. I agree. Since most of the 1600s are here to stay for awhile they should.

Many of them still ride better than those 1700s and those funky seats! :P

I hate those rock hard seats on the 1700s and they can get cleaner too.

Do all wrapped buses have the white stripe on top of the bus (bottom of CNG tank) and all painted buses all orange?

Yes the WRAPPED buses have a spot of white all over the bottom of the CNG tank.

1712 got the repaint nice and shiny.

  2. There are two things we can do w/ the (B)(D):

Option 1: (B) rerouted via West End Line (D) stays the same. Shuttle Bus to replace (B)(Q)

Option 2 (B) is suspended. (D) will be rerouted via the Culver also will be local in Manhattan also should be more frequent. (F) service remains the same.

    - (N)(Q) will terminate at 59th/4th Avenue from there you take shuttle bus to CI.( to provide alternative for (N))

    Other Storage areas:

    -Culver Express tracks

    -West End Express tracks

    -Lex/63rd lay up tracks

    -Astoria Express tracks

BTW The WHOLE Sea Beach should be getting a FULL REHAB in this scenario.

  3. 1988???!!! How can those rails keep up for almost 25 years? They should apply the FastTrack program to the LIRR to fix that. smh

Well Fastrack would disrupt dozing over night and plus the LIRR has that under control and secondly Tracks grow to be at least 30 years old or more.
  4. Anyone know how often tracks are replaced? At Lynbrook, track 1A has terrible rail kink (I didn't have my phone or a camera with me) and it causes trains to sway violently, barely missing the platform edge.

Looking at engraving on the rail it says the year. I saw the rails to the W/B track to the B platform it says or said 1988.
  5. KONE Corporation, press release, October 10, 2012

KONE has been awarded a contract by EE Cruz and Tully Construction to supply nine heavy-duty transit escalators to the future 96th Street station, as part of the New York City Transit Authority's (NYCTA) Second Avenue subway project. The Second Avenue Subway will reduce overcrowding and delays on the Lexington Avenue line and provide better access for residents of the far East Side of Manhattan. An estimated 200,000 passengers will use the Second Avenue Subway line daily.

A total of nine heavy-duty transit escalators will be installed to ensure safe and smooth People Flow at the 96th Street Station. The escalators are specifically designed to meet the heavy use and demanding conditions of public transportation. In addition, each escalator will feature an energy-efficient sleep mode which reduces the escalator’s speed when no passengers are travelling, allowing the MTA to minimize total energy consumption during inactive periods.

“We are pleased to continue providing our expertise in the mass transit market and eco-efficient escalator solutions to New York City’s subway system,” said Larry Wash, EVP and Area Director of KONE Americas. “We know our products will continue to provide subway passengers with a pleasant, reliable and safe travel experience.”

The company’s last project with the MTA was awarded in 2011. For this job, KONE provided nine heavy-duty transit escalators and two inclined elevators for the future subway station at 34th Street and 11th Avenue, part of the 7-Line Extension Project. Passenger train service to the new station is scheduled for June 2014.

KONE will install the escalators by late 2015. The Second Avenue Subway project is expected to be complete by December 2016.

  6. It's amazing how the look of iOS hasn't changed in 5 years. Also another fail in terms of technology is the new windows logo I mean it took them 25 years to make those boxes. but i have to admit both the ipod/iphone 5 look really NICE.

    P.S

At least they're making the new ipod shoot videos at 1080p so i'm thankful for that.

  7. The Only thing I dont like about Atlantic Teminal is that on weekends the the only branches that go directly there is Hempstead and Far Rockaway. Other than that Atl. Term LIRR platforms are much better looking than the platforms at Penn Station. And the subway turnstiles are right on the platform how convenient is that?

  8.

Due to signal problems at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue Station, uptown q.png train are running on the d.png line from theConey Island-Stillwell Avenue Station, to the Dekalb Avenue Station.

Selected downtown q.png train is turnning at the Brighton Beach Station

Please expect delays on the d.png, n.png and q.png trains at this time.

Gee like i didn't say that already.
  9. Well people are getting smarter than the MTA these days. At Jamaica Van Wyck (E) Station this guy instead of paying the fare like everyone else, he wanted to catch up to his friend so he dropped down to the floor and he rolled under the gate next to the turnstiles and he got up at the other side and acted like nothing happened <_<. Boy these New Yorkers do crazy stuff.

I hope there's cameras in that station.
