In order to get a day off in track you fill out a day off sheet that you suppose to have in the quarters its basically a 48 hour in advance thing for the day you need off which almost likely to get approved

Thanks for the response, getting a day off in my current depot is a headache. Excited about starting my journey in track its where I wanted to be but got called for BO first..

  2. Got an email to report for pre-employment on the 22nd of September. I'm currently a B/O in my second year. I was wondering whether or not my accrued time transfers with me i.e., OTO and AVA's. Also will my pay rate change to the starting track worker rate or will it stay the same rate as B/O? Any information would be helpful. Thanks list #23XX..

Why didn't you mention it to anyone while you were there for pre-employment? You could try examsunit@nyct.com perhaps 🤦‍♂️

Yea, that's definitely a thought however, I figured it was just how they were doing things.. I  just finished my probation in another title and was considering switching over. I did send  emails to the address on the OPA appointment letter and got no response.

Welp. Aside from switching tours or a later job, you should email/call them up to have it rescheduled. Though, if I were you I would finish probation before you make the jump. I had a classmate who was a bus operator who failed schoolcar and couldn't go back to buses because he was probationary.

Yes indeed finishing probation first is a must, just keeping all options open. Thanks for the info..

Hope you get Evans , she’s a really cool person with a LOT of years on her belt. Tough , but listen to what she says constructively!

    “what’s the problem?” 😂

She's definitely unique.. Had her for New Flyer training..

Congrats! My apologies for being late, however for those who still have to go through the 10-Day Training Session, have you considered looking at the handouts?

    Good luck!!

I definitely have to thank you +Young+ for all of the information and help I received throughout the past few years of being on the forum. Believe me it is greatly appreciated, thanks.. Yes I will use the handouts combined with my pre-road test training.

Also forgot to mention that afaik , instructors should want 12 o clock position of door handle (front + rear) , so pressing in brakes will engage interlock , and give green light at rear door while servicing the bus stop. don’t forget to kneel and press in that brake.

Your tip is also much appreciated, it helped on my qualifying day which was yesterday. Thanks again..

On a bus with a split windshield, you want the lower left corner of your curbside windshield (the L) to hide the edge of the curb when pulling in. On the Novas, use the ridge of the dashboard that's to the right of the radio. That piece should hide the edge. You get that, follow up in your right side flat mirror to see how your rear tires are tracking. If it looks like the front of the bus (the L in the windshield) is going past the edge of the curb, pull to the left a little bit and readjust.

Interlock... Move the door handle. Press the brake pedal. You'll get the green light, and the rear door indicator on your tell tales. Make sure it comes on. On some buses, you have to push much farther down on the pedal than others. To release the interlock, move the door handle back to the closed position. Once the rear doors are closed (and the kneeler is up), then press the brake pedal to release the interlock and get moving.

Having the ramp power enabled on some buses will keep the interlock on. Be mindful of that if you're using the ramp.

Thanks, although I was confused about the curbside window at first once in the seat it became clear. Your tip really came in handy. I qualified yesterday, and I must say it's such a relief.

  9. Can any members provide any tips on pulling into the bus stop without touching the curb. Also with the interlock in the 1 o'clock position is the interlock is engaged by pressing the brake and deactivated once all the doors are closed by pressing the the brake also?

You'll be going to Zerega. You have paperwork to fill out plus getting assigned a depot where you will do your 7 days at. Things should more or less be back to regular over there.

    Thanks for the response.

  14. So, after many unanswered calls and emails I got a call at 7:30am asking me to report for a drug test the same day which was yesterday 6/2/21. Fortunately I had a free day and was able to report. Then today at approximately 4:30pm I received another call to report to 180 Livingston for the medical part on Friday 8am. Now I know this is such short notice but I've been trying to get a response from them for months. Since I have a few days left on my vacation I will definitely be reporting. I was told a class is starting on Sunday.  Does anyone know if the first day is virtual or does it take place at Zerega? List #21xx.

I've sent several emails to the exam unit and haven't gotten a response either.

I myself have sent numerous emails and have made numerous phone calls. No one has responded yet. The phone either goes straight to an answering service  or just picks up & hangs up.
