  1. I have a this pair of Vans: http://www.journeys....4181&c=1137,999

And black monochrome Converse. I don't like to have a ton of shoes lying around, as it becomes wasteful, as you wear 2-3 pairs a lot and forget about the rest...

I like them! They perfectly match the Urban Outfitters shirt I'm wearing right now ! and $50, you can't beat that....

I only have 7 pairs of sneakers, 2 converse (black chucks, blue all stars), 3 vans (plain black, blue and red), 1 pair of nikes and 1 pair of Jordans that were given as a gift, these actually fit well, and it was a gift so I didn't have to pay for them! :D (Black Cement 3s)

  2. LOL... Seriously... When I was back in high school I used to do the same thing you do... Nothing irritated me more than seeing several folks wearing the same thing I had on. I don't like walking around with labels. It's like only I need to know what I'm wearing, so I can be perfectly fine wearing a $20 plain American Apparel shirt, a pair of American jeans (though I'll admit they're usually expensive since they're American made) and some drivers and no one will know what brand I'm wearing, but they'll be checking me out. lol I often get compliments on my shoes and they'll ask "Oh where did you get those from?" and I'll find some sort of way to not tell them. They get pissed because they want to know and I'm thinking to myself... Uh no... Get your own friggin' style. <_< Like this one dude...

Older guy: "Oh, those are nice, where did you get them from?"

Me: (Pretending not to hear him) Huh?

Older guy: (Knowing I'm screwing with him) (speaking slowly on purpose) WHEREEE did you get them from!?!?

Me: Oh! I got them online.

Older guy: (Sarcastic tone) OH! You got them online!?!?

Me: Walking away and ignorning him.

LOL, certain labels I wear but I like plain shirts. I love American Apparel! With jeans, I wear beige and grey instead of blue, I don't like blue jeans anymore.. I find beige better complements my wardrobe. I wear Levis and American Eagle jeans, that is all and I love it. For basic Tees, I wear American Apparel, Urban Outfitters and Uniqlo (I love Uniqlo the most and I can get a plain v-neck for $6!). When I wear those type of shirts, nobody knows what I am wearing until I tell them, I love it! I also wear graphic tees from Stussy, The Hundreds, urban Outfitters, Supreme and occasionally express. But nobody in my school really wears American Apparel and Uniqlo, so I have that uniqueness to me :D and I hate ppl who try to take your style.. I started wearing Urban Outfitters in Freshman year (im going to be a junior) and around sophomore year, everyone started wearing it <_< . I also hate ppl who make fun of others for what they wear, especially when they don't even dress well themselves

  3. I think black shoes shrink because they are more affected by temperature, IIRC....

I still don't understand why someone would pay ~100+ dollars for sweatshop shoes. At least those Italian shoes are hand made and can last years. You'd be lucky to have a pair of Nikes/Converse (unless the Converse were made before 2003) last more than 10 years...

lol... Well I get deals because I know the guy who works with Moreschi and deals with the shipping of them to me. I usually get at least two to three pairs at a time and they last me for several months for work, so he'll send me e-mails with 2 for 1 deals or whatever, so I don't always pay the full price for them, but yeah the last time I got three pairs I think it was something like at least $1,200.00 or more, as the prices varied for each pair of shoes.

I do have a pair of black calf leather shoes (these here: http://www.moreschis...lin/pid-43.html) from them as well and I use them occasionally with dark colors like brown. Goes very nicely and they're actually very comfortable and stylish for black shoes.

This company is very popular in Italy (small old school family run company) and I always remember when I lived in Florence, I would walk by the store there Downtown and say one of these days when I'm not a college student, I'm going to be able to afford these shoes. That was when I was 23 or so and I was paying in US $ for everything there so I thought it would be wise of not to blow $500.00 on one pair of shoes since I was living off of my own savings at the time and just going to university there in Italy and traveling around (which was expensive since I was paying in Euros with US $) and couldn't work. When I came back to the States, got my degree and everything and started working, as soon as I started making decent money around 25 or so, I went to their Midtown NY location and picked up a pair and they're the brand that I use for my main shoes. They recently closed the store unfortunately, and were replaced by that cigar store there on Madison and 53rd, but now they have this great online store so I can still get shipments from Italy. They have a warehouse in Texas that they receive the Italian orders from and then they ship them to the customer.

@Threxx - If I get Converses or Vans, I get them in bulk (3 different colour pairs) as they are so affordable and I have a wardrobe that revolves around many colours, they last long for me, I've had pairs for at least a year :) With Supras and Nikes, I get a new pair every 3 months, just so there is a variety and it helps freshen up my wardrobe.. I would never try to make a pair of sneakers last 10 years until I'm older and style doesn't matter as much...

@VG8 - I like the black ones a lot! They would go perfect w/my school uniform lol.. Lucky you get deals, that is how I get my clothes and stuff too... A friend of mine works at Zumiez and I get a discount on stuff, and when I go shopping in soho (whether it would be stussy, urban outfitters, etc..) I buy multiple pieces of clothing/hats at the same time, so I get a discount, AND they don't charge tax either :D and oohhh that's really cool! When I was 11, I was really ambitious to wear nice clothes, walked by all the teen stores (not the mainstream ones indeed) and dreamed of buying/wearing their clothes and now I do :D Its cool that you have your own style and aren't mainstream at all..

Speaking of mainstream, thats another reason why I don't wear Jordans b/c everybody wears them -.- I don't wanna get a pair of sneakers and then see 20 ppl with the same pair...

Same about clothes, I stopped wearing Hollister b/c everybody else starting wearing it and it has died down.. A lot of "ghetto" kids wear it now, its so annoying.. i see it all over, whether in queens center mall, my school, Manhattan or Springfield Gardens.. Stuff like Abercrombie, Hollister, its not real style... Its better to be unique and wear a variety of different things IMO, but not stuff that you are going to see a lot of other ppl wear...

  4. Here is what I'm wearing now in my office... They're extremely comfortable for the summertime when in the office especially since your feet expands and stuff. It takes a while to get them from Italy, but well worth the wait.

    http://www.moreschis...mir/pid-46.html

Oh they're nice.. I prefer black shoes, b/c they're easier to match in but if it fits nice then it works.. 465.00$ ??!! got damn, i can get 10 pairs of vans and a t-shirt for that price :o

  5. Well okay, that's about what I pay for my Italian and English shoes ($400.00 - $600.00). The difference is my shoes are made by hand by actual shoe cobblers in Italy or England or even Switzerland sometimes, so that explains the price and they can last for years if they are resoled. I can't justify spending that on some sweatshop shoes though, limited edition or not. The quality is far inferior. Also my shoe size can be difficult to get (46 Euro (about a 12 or a 13 US)), but for the comfort level and quality it is worth the price. I can walk around in my work shoes for 12 hours and they are still comfortable.

That's another reason why I don't buy those Jordans, they're mad uncomfortable and I'm a size 13 as well, so they are rare to find. I prefer skate shoes and such for regular wear. i go to Catholic school and always get a nice pair of shoes for like 200$ and they last me the whole school year, while everybody else wears black sneakers and complain that their feet hurt -_-

  6. That doesn't say much though... People have killed for a dollar. How much do they actually cost??

Concords were actually 180$ when they came out I believe, but now they cost more.. they are 250$ at this sneaker store called flight club in Union square on 11th and broadway (they have sneakers that are limited edition, so ALL the sneakers tend to cost more than anywhere else)

  7. The most expensive type, Air Jordan 11's, also known as Concords cost so much people have been killed for them.

Thank you, someone who shares my style...

1.) Yes, they were one of the most expensive, but they are so overrated, like they came out in December, by the time February came around, nobody wore them anymore..

2.) You wear those? You have a good style then :) Not too mainstream, I like that!

  8. I've never owned a pair of Jordan's. Never cared to, but I can't imagine them being that expensive. I'm sure they're made in some sweatshop in China somewhere no?

There are pairs of Jordans and Nikes that can go for $300+, there are limited editions that cost $600+, but the average price for a decent looking sneaker (from a sneaker heads POV) is about 200-300$ but thats average.. Yes I tell my friends all the time that they are made in sweatshops (they are made in Vietnam, I believe) but they don't care, they just wanna look cool, but of course, I have a better style than them without wearing those crap shoes.. :D

  9. I've shopped at places that sell Jordans, (I buy the cheaper stuff) they look like regular sneakers. I will probably never own a pair unless I have a bunch of money to blow...

I've had a pair before, but I got them like a year after they came out so they are cheaper.. But that isn't my style.. Converse, certain Nikes, Vans and Supras are my style.. Jordans are overhyped and overrated..

  10. 1) I guess when you get to be like 60 or 70, you'll be glad people think you're younger than your actual age. LOL.

    2) Yeah, I know what they are, but I can't see paying that much for sneakers. I remember somebody talking about how he waited for hours to get them when they were first released, and paying like $150 or something. My attitude is that if it's comfortable and looks decent, I'll buy it. I mean, I generally don't spend much more than $30 on sneakers. If I spend any more, it's likely because there's a "Buy One Get One Free (or half-price)" deal or something.

And yeah, the next time I do the walk, I'll plan a little in advance. I was planning on going home, so the route I took made sense, but then I decided to stop by at Western Beef (the route I took was still direct, but since it was along Forest Avenue, I had to deal with all the traffic and everything instead of taking calm, quiet streets, even if it took a little longer). I mean, walking a distance like that isn't bad if you just take it easy and go along streets meant for walking (I mean, if you walk along Arthur Kill Road west of Richmond Avenue, that obviously wasn't intended to have a whole lot of pedestrians on it).

And yeah, it's getting kind of ridiculous. I mean, really? 59 ounce containers of orange juice? A "1/2 gallon" of ice cream is usually 48 ounces instead of 64. If you get the largest container, they generally don't play too many games (I guess they like it when you buy in bulk), but with smaller containers, they're doing it all over the place.

1.) Yes indeed. Maybe even earlier, my mom is in her 30s and ppl always think that she is my older sister and that she is in her 20s, she loves it. Kinda weird tho.. LOL.

2.) I never paid more than 120$ for sneakers, most of these jordans are crap anyways, everyone in my school wears them. I prefer to have my own style and not be mainstream :D . 30$?? :o what sneakers cost 30$ ? Lol, i only know certain types of converse that cost 30$ (not a bad thing at all, being resourceful actually)..

Yes, but I never plan when I walk, I just randomly go down a certain avenue, whether in Astoria, Manhattan or Springfield Gardens, as long as I get to my destination, it really doesn't matter...

That is kind of what the economy has driven them to do.. Seems buying in bulk is the only way you get a bang for your buck...

Generally, my price limit on any article of clothing is $40, unless it's a winter coat, which I am willing to spend up to $90 dollars for.

I need to be warm in the winter, I'm the guy who wears 4 layers + in January/February...

I always wear a winter coat AND a hoodie in January/February, I'm used to hotter climates (based on where I am from) and I can't stand the cold..

I've never spent more than $60 for jeans, $ 40 for a shirt (not a t-shirt, like a button down), 30$ for a t-shirt. I don't see the point in spend $100s of dollars on ONE article of clothing or sneakers..

  11. I remember when I used to volunteer down at the SI Children's Museum, there was a guy who I thought was just entering high school, and he thought I was just entering high school. (I was in like 6th grade and thought he was in 9th grade). Then a couple of years later, I ran into him at the bus stop and I found out he was going to CSI. I'm like "damn, I thought you were just finishing up high school now, and you're well into college", and he's like "I thought you were in high school when I met you. You mean you're just starting?" LOL. I guess I was more mature for my age and he joked around that he must've acted immature for his age. LMAO.

    Jordans? What are those? LOL.

In any case, I just checked the distance between 2 points I walked and it was 4.6 miles. I started in West Brighton, stopped by at Western Beef, and then went home. (I guess you could count the distance within the store, since it was basically nonstop walking). Now that I think about it, I should've taken a different route. Instead of walking along Forest Avenue, I should've tried to stick with the residential streets for a more pleasant walk. Ah, well, I know for next time....

On a side note, SMH at Western Beef for reducing the sizes of the yogurt containers. They used to be the last holdouts with the 8 ounce containers, and now they're down to 6 ounces like everybody else (SMH at all of them too). I'd prefer the price be raised a little bit instead of this sneaky tactic. The funny thing is that their yogurt is the same price as the LaYogurt, so obviously if two things are the same price, you go with the name brand.

1.) That's funny, everybody when they see me at first thinks that I am younger than my actual age. Right before I moved out of the city, I ran into an old family friend, and he was like "What grade are you in? 6th? 7th?" and I was shocked :o I told him that I was in 10th Grade, and he was shocked, but then we had a conversation and told me that I am indeed very mature for my age, even more mature than the adults in the area, LOL.

2.) Are you joking about the jordans? lol, they're not even all that tho..

You walked 4.6 miles? Sheesh. That is similar to the time that I walked from South Ferry to 42nd St last year... I walked along the FDR Drive, through the projects I lived in, to 1st aveune then up to 42nd then over to times square, way more pleasant than walking through Midtown, although walking anywhere through Manhattan is very nice..

I noticed that, not only at Western Beef, but also in Pathmark.. It is cheaper for them to put less yogurt in the container (less made, I guess) but they make more money because they charge the same amt. for it... A very sneaky tactic.. This is why I have been starting to go to BJs and walmart over by Green Acres for grocery shopping, might as well get it all in bulk lol...

  12. I'm back with a few more ideas:

Q17: I've also happened to notice some Northbound PM LTD's little under half full but I wouldn't eliminate them completely. Instead I'd just reduce the frequency to 9-10 min.

Q26/27: Short turn a small few Q27's to/from the Q26's path to eliminate retire/replace the route altogether (peak directions only during Rush Hours only).

Q46: Extend time frame of Westbound AM LTD's up 'til ending at 9:15. As for the PM there'll be LTD's (Westbound) at 2:30-6:00 PM. (sorry still had to mention this ;).

Q77: Extend to 147 Av better connect with Q111 & Q113 as folks don't have to walk to 145th to catch the bus.

Q83: Re-extend to it's original terminal at QV LIRR to better ridership along the Cambria Heights area.

Q17- I've noticed that they bunch and don't get very full, I see them whenever I take the Q3/Q77, I think that line has a little too much service

Q26 - I always thought that it should go to QCC, as it seems that it doesn't even get that much riders on Hollis Ct. Blvd

Q46- I've only taken the route during the PM from LIJ to Union Tpke, so I can't comment. But i know that the route gets packed

Q77 - This idea is brung up a lot, but thank god I live in that area now so I can talk about it. Springfield Blvd becomes a very narrow 2 way street after 145 Rd. I'm going to tell you two reasons why it won't work.

1.) Not much ppl even ride the Q77 to 145 Rd as it is, it always becomes empty either at F Lewis/Springfield or Springfield/Merrick. I live near the last stop and whenever I take the Q77 during the PM rush, I'm always the only passenger when the bus gets to Merrick.

2.) No one coming off the Q77 at 145 Rd wants the Q111, everyone that gets off there, lives by 145th Av/Rd mostly...

There are school kids who may want the Q111 by IS 231 (over on Springfield/S Conduit) but little did I know, there are Q111 and Q85 school trippers heading to Jamaica and Rosedale, so that is covered..

A lot of ppl have come up w/this idea, but I never thought about it until I moved to Springfield Gardens myself..

Q83 - my friend says not many ppl are on near Springfield, so that could work. Whenever I take it, I either get off at Farmers/Murdock (for the Q3) or Murdock/F Lewis (for the Q77)

  13. The fastest under-water tunnels in the system: (B Division only...)

    14th Street-North 7th, (L).

    60th Street, (N), (Q), (R), (W)

    Rutgers, (F)

    53rd Street, (E), (M), (V)

    63rd Street, (F)

    I think that's right...

I agree with the (L) that tunnel is FAST!

53rd Street only Queens direction as others stated

    63rd Street is fast

I haven't been on Rutgers in about a month but I remember a fast ride

The 60 St tube is only fast if you are on an (N) or (Q) because the (R) has to make a turn to get to Queens Plaza, therefore it isn't very fast...

  14. I assume you mean every station BESIDES Fulton St. Okay, here we go:

    (2) some downtown trains terminate at Chambers St; some trains run via Lexington Av express

    (2) single-track shuttle trains run between Wall St and Nevins St

    (3) downtown trains terminate at Chambers St

    (A) Far Rockaway/Lefferts Blvd - 207 St, via (F) between Jay St and W 4 St, local in Manhattan

    (C) Euclid Av - High St

    (J)(Z) terminates at Chambers St

That's awesome! I wouldn't have been able to think of it myself :P

  15. The ads on my page show a Nissan Titan. Why on earth would a single 19 year old buy that thing?

LOL, I always get ads for things I DON'T want.. If I get an ad for clothing its for either Victoria's Secret (Idk how, I'm a guy), Aeropostale or Old Navy (I don't wear those -___-) and then there are ads for meeting singles. Wtf ? I'm 17, I'm too young to sign up for almost all of those sites..

  16. NEXT

Due to construction north of DeKalb Av, (B)(D)(N)(Q) trains can not access the manhattan Bridge in both directions, and (R) trains can not access Lawrence St. DeKalb Av may be used as a terminal for northbound trains, and Lawrence St can be used as a terminal for southbound trains. Questions anyone?

I'll take at try at this....

    (B) suspended

    (D) runs in two sections:

    2 Av- Norwood/205 St

    Coney Island- Atlantic Av

    (N) runs from Whitehall - Ditmars

shuttle service serves the Sea Beach line

    (Q) runs between DeKalb and Coney Island

    (R) Two sections

    Lawrence St - Forest Hills

36 St (to connect with (D) trains)- Bay Ridge/95 St

  17. LOL. At the tutoring place I work for, there was a little 5 year-old kid that was starting to argue with a girl (It was something like not wanting to share his crayons or something else), and I told him that if a girl keeps on insisting she wants something, it's not worth arguing. Who knows? Maybe he got the message.

On a side note, I saw a sign that said "Foreclosure Prevention" on top of a building, and next to it was a boarded up home. Yeah, some good job they're doing with foreclosure prevention, right? :D

LOL, that's crazy and pretty cool, they say in some instances that children listen better than adults sometimes, who knows? maybe the same could be said for this situation..

LMAO wow thats pretty funny! There is a company that fixes houses around 147th Av and maybe 226 St (5 blocks from my house) and half the houses on their block look like they haven't been updated in years...

On a side note, yesterday I was on the Q85 at Jamaica Center in the AM meeting someone that I was selling a hat to, and then the Q5 came and on the back it said "Q3" Programming error maybe?

  18.

Same here! I can proudly say that you and MTAFanBoy512 have good heads on your shoulders!

I've always wanted to try ice skating but never got the chance too... Hockey was ok for me.... (we've play in the gym)

My favorite pitch to hit is a fastball up and away... I would hit it pretty far when that happens... Naturally, I'm a right handed hitter but I can bat switch... Also I'm a right handed thrower but I can throw left handed as well...

Thing is, in P.E, as I said earlier, I usually would throw only fastballs because the kids started bitching that they couldn't hit the ball because of me...

I could play out field but I didn't like it too much... I prefer the infield... If I was put out field, I was usually put at LF... If infield, I was usually put SS but I prefered catcher or pitcher...

Basketball, I suck at it completey.... I can't shoot straight for S--- lol.... I would always hit the backboard but rarely the basket...

Football, I was ok at it but my god, I was butterfingers lol... That's why the QB never threw the ball at me lol...

I would like this post because of this particular line (Thank you!) but I have reached my like quota for the day :(

  19. Yeah that's true....

I really like polo shirts... I usually were either black or blue and I hate it when people assume I'm goth or emo just because I wear a lot of black...

Loads of ugly sneaker designs these days though....

I like to meet new mature people too like you and B35. :)

Polos are awesome. Either Ralph Lauren or American Eagle polos will work for me :) and idk why ppl assume that, black is a very neutral color and matches w/practically anything that is why it is worn so much ^___^..

Yes, loads of ugly sneakers.. Vans and converses are simple and you can never go wrong w/them. Supra is a urban/skater type shoe and adidas high top sneakers are nice.. Some ppl have no style nowadays, they want to be sheep and wear what everybody else is wearing w/no type of originality or individuality at all smh (This is why I don't wear Hollister anymore)...

Thank you! :) everyone tells me that I am way more mature than my age, I guess I am (i'm only 17) and likewise, there are ppl who say some really good things on this forum, like you and B35...

  20. A lot of these sneakers are horrid when it comes to style... I was always that type of guy who enjoys simple designs...

I can be shy in person but online, I tend to be a bit more out going... Yeah this convo is great! :)

    Sure no problem!

Yes they are! Many are ugly, and ppl know that they are ugly, but still buy them to resell them for more money.. Rather waste of time... That's why I prefer clothes and snapbacks to sneakers :D ... And simple is better than overzealous all the time! *thumbs up*

Clothes is simple too, plain shirts, polos, graphic tees, cardigans and graphic tanks.. Actually fairly simple but still stylish :P

Online its easier to be more outgoing b/c most of the time your not gonna meet them in person so any thoughts about them judging you aren't necessary, at least in my experience..

Although this is a transit forum, its very nice that we can have off topic conversations, we all share a similar interest but we are different ppl, and its nice to get to know ppl and discuss w/e we want too... I like the freedom and I like getting to know ppl so its a win/win for me! :D
