  1. @ the both of you: Thanks famms B-)

@ GC: To be brief, right now anyone would be an improvement to the Yankee lineup... not sayin Soriano will take em to the playoffs per se, but a good (re)acquisition nonetheless..... I'll save any further comments for the baseball thread later on myself.....

@ Astoria Line: So how you like it out there in W. Hempstead? Quiet enough for ya?!

Anyway, lol... What I'm surprised at is how many of these chicks are on that matriarch shit; should've made that more clearer.... I know the thought process exists...... I mean, I go on that site I mentioned (gen-x), and some of those dudes on there go on these blogtalkradio shows (they post snippets of) & what not, and some of them chicks are talking crazy ish.... Then there's a couple females I know of personally I know that are on that tip too (as dudes on gen-x puts it - "bringing sand to their beach" - An analogy basically meaning, I'm already established, what do I really need you (meaning, a man) for)....

As far as some of these boys comin up, that's a large part of the problem.... They're catering to women (and as I see it, taking on female tendencies) because they were raised by (weak) women - and a weak woman is only gonna raise her daughter to get her own shit & to be mistrustful of men - because THEY (the females in the household) have daddy issues all over the place.... They're only gonna raise their sons to matriarchal specifications - meaning, raise boys to be that cookie-cutter pushover MF-er that women can just control & walk all over... I grew up havin to hear my eldest aunt on that "all men are dogs, nzzzz's aint shit" rhetoric, and I'm glad my mother checked her right then & there quick -  All these men you seeing aren't the problem - it's YOU..... Talk about lack of accountability....

I'll admit, too many 80's babies are out here poppin out babies like skittles..... We can get into blaming the baby boomers (I forget the age range, but it's basically the folks that were born in the 40's-late 50's IINM), but this buffoonery (from both genders) has long gotten out of hand.... Lol at it being at least half these jokers out here....The problem is very much apparent, I'll say that much.

There's more I wanna say, but I gotta jet.....

W Hempstead is okay, it is safe and quiet (I don't hear gunshots and police sirens every night, so I mean that's a plus) and that n15 is a reliable line, I haven't had any headaches with it. I'm kind of shy to go outside and explore and make friends though, so I've been going back to Queens to hang out. (Thank god I'm still going to school in Queens!) Thanks for asking! lol

That matriarchal shit reminds me of my English teacher from this year, she's a single middle aged woman who doesn't trust men (she said out loud) and she had a "feminist" demeanor.. she's pretty self sufficient and said herself that she doesn't need anyone.

With the women raising men weak analogy, that's typical. Projection of insecurities and desires onto their sons.... trying to raise them THEIR way instead of the right way. pfft but poor parenting is a whole 'nother story LOL

"too many 80's babies are out here poppin out babies like skittles.

    ^ nice analogy LOL

IN a nutshell, people don't know how to act, and it is all a hot ass mess.. lol one that I will try not to get involved with myself when the time comes.

  2. - The Obregonmichael situation, I don't remember what happened w/ him off-top, so I'm not goin say anything about that...

    - JGood, I don't know why he got banned to begin with.. From what I remember, it was like - one minute he was posting in a particular thread here in the OT section, couple folks kept complaining about the quantity of his conspiracy theories or whatever, and the next minute, he was gone.... Unless there's something more to his dismissal that I simply do not know about?

    - Yeah, I could probably write a book on the shit people in general do that pisses me off.....

    - Soriano back to the Yankees? I was JUST talking about this to a colleague (well, ex-colleague); regarding former yankees we would like to see come back to the team... I understood why Soriano got let go when he did, but I for one is rather ecstatic to see the guy back here.... On a similar note, I remember saying to myself, the only player off that red sox championship team that I wanted on the Yankees was Damon, and sure enough, there he came....

Anyway, I didn't hear squat about Soriano coming back to NY (before I just checked that MLB thread).....

    - Speaking of which (about [ex]-colleagues), a brotha got a promotion (which explains why I aint been on here during the middays as of late; don't have near as much freetime as I used to), but a new (shitty) commute to go along with it....  Anyway, Ole girl has a prollem w/ my decision, but I gives no fux - because at the end of the day, green >>>> pink - and don't you cats on here forget that shit !.... It was okay when she was bringin home $77 bucks more/check (smh), but now that I'm makin almost 6 figures, oh now there's a problem....

Man have I learned something, and I didn't wanna believe it, but this dude on Generation-X.net was right - These women out here are really tryna eradicate the idea of a patriarchy wholesale & on some serious matriarchal shit - in tryna add men to their program.... The only men males that put up with this crap are lazy, broke, misguided, grew up with no male/father figure whatsoever - basically what happens when you have a bunch of women tryna raise young boys to be men - like manhood is intrinsic or some shit (you see how effeminate some of these young dudes are out here now)... Even though I didn't live in a 2-parent household & was raised in a household full of women, I still had my father, my eldest uncle, and both grandfathers in my life as a shorty - or else there's a good chance I would've been one of these pant sagging, I'ma call ASA today & geta jobb next week ass nzzzz having to lay pipe on some unsuspecting chick for a f'n place to rest my head & put food in my belly.... Man I wish I would..... I know some of you on here know somebody like that.... I seriously worry about the next generation of dudes out here.....

as for my, lady.... I haven't talked to the MF-er since the beginning of the week; iono, I may post the rest of it in the relationship thread... maybe.....

I see why rich people become misers when they get old.... I mean, who wants to be the old 50+ year old kool & the gang MF-er on the corner w/ the fishnet shirt with his grey chest hairs stickin out the shit, tryna holla at underage girls (church & nostrand over there by the elevator, mcdonald's side... some a y'all might know what I'm talkin bout).... When the broads you used to mess with done took your ass to the goddamn cleaners..... For instance, these chicks do NOT want babies & a "ring on it" because they love you - They want these babies &/or that title of someone's wife so they can get PAID in the longrun....

First of all, congrats on your promotion !

Second, I'm not surprised with the patriarchal eradication tbh... many women that I see consider themselves above men.

Problem with this new generation coming up, many of the guys (especially the ones my age) don't got their priorities straight (they don't care about their schooling or anything, just stupid stuff like sneakers or smashing girls)... (I'm not gonna comment on the effeminate nature of guys because I don't see it often but many people consider me effeminate unfortunately) and they're gonna end up like those low-achieving types that you mentioned...

I wasn't raised in a 2 parent household either, and didn't grow up with any males, but I know at least I won't end up like that..!

You basically described at least 1/2 the guys in my generation though in truthful, honest points tho... You ain't the only one worried about this generation...

  3. Actually the demand to Bay Terrace is pretty good. Otherwise the Q28 wouldn't operate 10 minute headways or overnight. Yes the Q25 does bunch terribly. When I used it, I missed a Q25 but then one was right behind it and I was at Roosevelt Avenue/Main Street (what a coincidence). Plus because there is so much traffic on that part of Main Street, that's why there needs to be more limited service. Weekday peak hours. I say daily at all times except late nights is when Q25LTD should operate.

LTD service won't fix anything if there is traffic. The main traffic is that part of Main and Kissena but that is a small number of stops. If there is traffic and the bus isn't moving, you're not gonna lose time by stopping in a stop anyways....

I think other than the bunching, the Q25 is a fine route (I prefer the Q65 though)... "If it ain't broke don't fix it."

  4. Yes but although Q34 does supplement the Q25, there's no point of having it do so. The Q34 has horrible headways (about 20 minutes) while the Q25 headways are no longer than 10 minutes. It's better just to truncate the Q34 to Flushing from Jamaica and extend it to Bay Terrace from Whitestone via Willets Point Boulevard and boost the Q25 like adding weekend and off-peak limited service because there's no point in sending that Q34 to Jamaica if it has bad headways. Almost certainly if it was a Bay Terrace-Flushing route, it would do better.

Why extend it to Bay Terrace if the Q28 goes there from Flushing.... I don't think the demand is there...

Those 25s bunch like crazy too...

  5. But it crosses it meaning now you can just transfer to a direct bus via redirected Q34 rerouted to middle village via college point and 108th/LIE. Q34 is probably useless duplicating the Q25. It may end up with more ridership as a bay terrace< flushing< middle village route do you even know how to read posts?

Why you think it would just go through I said combine as in pass through flushing try to read but apparently many here are incapable of that simple feat.

    NICE BS try again.

"NICE BS try again".... wtf is that supposed to mean?

Never quoted you or mentioned anything about you either "Mr. transitmaster"

me and bobtehpanda were talking about Q90..

  6. Main Street has enough room for buses.

I have never laughed so hard. Are you actually serious?

He's probably never even been to Main Street pfft.

I think he suggests routes to go places, but he's actually never been to them and just looks at maps instead, and you know how that goes

Main has enough room for buses, the problem is not room itself, its the friggin traffic...

  7. I rode the n51 today. Video coming soon. We had a total of 4 passengers including me.

I saw one at Roosevelt Field today... compared to the other buses it was pretty empty.. even for the first stop.

I was speaking to some passengers on the n6x the other day about the service changes. They all are upset about the Westminster Road stop being removed. A lot of them didn't know about the changes either, they said that NICE doesn't try to get community input. Seems many people get off at Westminster to walk to the n15/n31/n32 to avoid Hempstead altogether, including quite a few people from my neighborhood. Some suggested removing the Elmont Rd stop instead.

  8. I did kind of an experiment yesterday and today...

I took the N4 and N6x leaving Jamaica around the same time... (N6x from 165-HTC) and (N4 from Parsons-Archer to RVC Park Ave/Merrick Rd)...

I took the 6:50pm N4 and the 6:38pm N6x. Got to HTC at 7:24 and got to RVC at 7:25 (both operators were moving VERY NICEly too)

It is interesting that the N4 is faster even though the N6x is an "express". I can't wait for the N4x. I wanna see how much time I saved!

Rode Orion V CNGs on both too (1626 on N4 and 1660 on N6)

  9. I've officially moved in my new Long Island house.. It is a nice house that needs some work. There is an attic that I'm gonna work on, it is huge! and I'm gonna make it my new room.

It is way safer out here than it was in Springfield Gardens. It is nice and quiet here and I don't see undesirables walking around at all hours. I don't hear police and sirens every night either!

Transportation wise, it is actually BETTER here. Yes, W Hempstead branch is weekdays only, but I never ride LIRR anyways. (I think it is too much $$$, I'd rather buy a weekly/monthly unlimited and ride NICE Bus). That n15 blows the POS Q85 out of the water. In the three days that I've been using the n15, it has been more reliable (no missing runs) and it doesn't get crushed as bad either, and the ride ain't too bad. Equipment is good (I consider NICE's NGs and 3Gs superior to MTAs.). All is well now and I'm happy :) Although this will be temporary if I end up going to Stony Brook for college next year. I can't believe I'm a senior in HS now either! (I'm still attending school in NYC).

Hope everyone is doing well! :D

  10. The N15 is pretty much every 15 minutes on weekdays, 15-20 minutes on the weekends. N31/32 is about every 15-20 minutes on weekdays, the same pretty much on the weekends.

The quicker way to Jamaica would be the n6 or the n6x, but it is packed and if you're going on a weekday, you may have to wait a few buses before there's room or push to get on. I don't if you're talking about walking to Hempstead Transit Center or not or taking another bus there to transfer to the n6, but the earlier in the run to Jamaica that you board (the closer to Hempstead), the less packed the bus is gonna be. Every n6 stop just keeps packing people on there. I don't know if you're planning to take NICE to school everyday, but during rush hour, you're going to want to leave time for travel because that's crazy time for the n6.

I'm not taking NICE to school everyday, but I will be using it a lot this summer. I'll be taking the bus (which ever of the three) to the Transit Center so I'll be at the first stop. Thanks!

  11. ...at risk of cannibalizing the ridership of all the other parallel routes.

The problem I have with the new Brooklyn bus route is that honestly, it runs 2 blocks from the B62. The B62 doesn't exactly have stellar ridership. If the area really needed the extra service (doubtful), then just boost the B62. It's better to have one route stopping every seven minutes than two routes a block apart stopping every fifteen.

That B32 is gonna have 30 minute headways actually... I don't see it being successful. but who knows?

  12. Then how come you criticized my Q90 route for being long if it's shorter than those longer routes. And wait Q19 only operates until 7? Maybe the demand isn't high because it stops operating too early. And Q102 goes to Roosevelt Island and is the only bus to do so, not a nowhere route. If Q103 was extended to Williamsburg like I proposed, then it wouldn't be a nowhere route either.

The difference between your route and those other routes, is your route mirrors a whole bunch of other routes and the routing is rather unreliable imo

  13. It's good if there's industry on Vernon Boulevard because B35 via Church said a million times that industry creates demand. And also the Q103 doesn't need to be rerouted anywhere, it just needs to be extended to Williamsburg. Also for anyone who needs to go to other parts of Astoria, they could just walk over to the Q19 and also the Q103 is broke and an extension to Williamsburg will fix it, not by rerouting it. And speaking of the Q19, I think it should be extended to 2 Street and 27 Avenue to connect with Q18, Q102, and Q103.

An extended Q19 to Manhattan or Bronx would be much longer than my Q90. I'd say a local route more than 10 miles is too long. Q90 is right at that limit.

Don't push anyone onto that Q19. That route stops running at 7pm.... and doesn't go anywhere with major traffic except for Flushing..

and as Q23 says, there are many successful routes that are more than 10 miles....

extending the Q19 down to 27th ave, you're basically connecting a bunch of low ridership/go nowhere routes lol

  14. Q102 is fine the way it is and Q104 should be eliminated and be replace by my proposed 10 mile long Q90 if any changes are made to the Q104 (go a few pages before this one if you wanna see it and haven't seen it already). And extending the Q19 to Manhattan or Bronx is too lengthy. An unneeded. I'd say extend it only to 2 Street and 27 Avenue to connect with the Q18, Q102, and Q103. Also Q69 runs down Ditmars Boulevard, not 21 Avenue. Also the Q100 is fine the way it is and so is the Q69. And I already said extend Q103 to Williamsburg instead of starting a B32 to boost ridership. Also for those Q103 riders who want to get to Queens Plaza, they could just walk there or use the (7) train.

Extending the Q19 to the Bronx or Manhattan is too lengthy but your Q90 isn't?

  15. The Q103 doesn't hit all the major areas of LIC...

The Q103 doesn't go to Court Sq or Queens Plaza (two major destinations....)

it only goes to Vernon-Jackson and Queensbridge..

If you can re-route it to serve ALL of those major destinations, it MAY benefit and see an increase of ridership...

    BUT then again..

Don't fix something if it ain't broke...

May I also mention, Vernon Blvd ain't a major thoroughfare (only Costcos and the projects are there.... it is the industrial-like area of Astoria)

and the Q103 terminates by those PJs at 27th Av... it doesn't go to any major parts of Astoria either....

  16. knew it I knew you were gonna say something about Q16/48 merger. I would have Q48 travel on national at and corona ave granting easier airport access to the corona area. Then via 51st after then Maurice at rush hour via 55th off peak skipping that area to meeker ave to Williamsburg at offpeak hours to LES replacing B39. B39 retains peak service to allow this q48 to skip that traffic hell. Offpeak frequency adjusted to every 15 mins instead of 20. Every other trip absorbs B39 going to LES. That is a hub as well.

    wait what..

we might as well send the Q38 to the bronx or something too...

  17. Yes that makes more sense now. But I would do it differently from error. How about the Q38 is the one that runs via Eliot. The Q38 would be truncated to Rentar Plaza and connect with the (M) train. But how about extend the Corona end to the Hall of Science by dropping the 57 Avenue segment, Make Q38s turn onto Junction Boulevard then HHE, then up 108 Street, then right on 52 Avenue, then a final right on 111 Street and terminates at 54 Avenue. Then going to Rentar Plaza it continues down 111 Street until it ends at the HHE then it would continue on it until Junction Boulevard where it will continue on the current Q38 until Rentar Plaza. And with this Q51 replacing the other half, I would make it run along the Q58 between Metropolitan Avenue and it's terminus at Ridgewood Instead of Forest Avenue and Gates Avenue. And also make it run along Juniper Valley Road until it ends at 80 Street, then it runs down 80 Street until Furmanville Avenue, then it turns right onto Furmanville (note that service along Penelope Avenue would be discontinued because that street is too narrow) until Woodhaven Boulevard, and then it turns a right on 63 Drive and continues on the current Q38 route until 108 Street. Then it would run along the HHE just like error proposed it but instead of having it duplicate the Q58 on College Point Boulevard, I would have it run down Main Street until Roosevelt Avenue where it would terminate. If you don't get any of it, then I will post a map of it later.

You wouldn't make it go on College Point Blvd, because it "duplicates" the Q58, but running it on Main St sort of "duplicates" the Q20 A/B/Q44

  18. Well that explains why no one came up with this suggestion and tell me what kind of new route would you suggest to replace half of it?

error's idea is a better idea than the Q39..

In error's idea, the new route HAS to terminate at Ridgewood if you want it to have a lot of transfers, if you wanted to you could short turn at Metro (but I doubt that'll happen w/headways..)

sending the Q38 to Flushing will give it purpose, there is a growing asian population in the Rego Park area and they don't have direct access to Flushing unless they backtrack to the Q58 and that Q58 gets hit hard enough (You'll see 2 buses bunched up and they are normally CRUSHED.....)

  19. No it does not need to go to Flushing and Ridgewood, Q58 already does that. I think the best idea to eliminate the Q38's loop would be swapping

routes with Q39. Q38 would continue down Eliot and head down Forest Avenue along the Q39 route and the Q39 would continue down Fresh Pond Road and turn onto Metropolitan Avenue and use the Q38's routing to Rego Park. Wonder why no one suggested that before (at least to my knowledge)

That Q39 is long enough.. lemme tell yah. You'll make that route EVEN MORE unreliable than it is now! (20 minute headways and the damn route bunches in 3s and is prone to delays on Van Dam St as well....)

Longer routes = more bunching, more delays, possibly some MIA runs...

In order to make the Q38 reliable, you're better off split it and making a new route INSTEAD of splitting it and making a current route longer and more unreliable!
