  1. I know. That is why I only would use the metro there. I mean what the hell is the "V7" bus route?

    Yeah what about the Q20A/B?

I know but I didn't include it because there's an extra stop if you take it there.

I wouldn't short turn the buses. There are a lot of people that use the Q60 to 2 Avenue, too many to short turn some buses. I in fact think it should be extended (only) three blocks to Lexington Avenue and layover between 59 and 60 Streets to provide connections to the (4)(5)(6). Also the bunching problems on the Q60 could be fixed by adding SBS and bus lanes.

Well tell that to the people who constantly take the wrong (A) train  !

Adding SBS and bus lanes on Queens Blvd? Ha !

good luck with that.... NIMBYs aren't gonna like losing their parking. There is loads of parking spots on Queens Blvd, even if it is a big stretch of road.

Also, the route doesn't even have a LIMITED.... ain't no way its gonna get an SBS

  2. I agree with the notion that B35 & bobtehpanda stated about renaming routes.... there ain't a reason to do it tbh.

Now about a Q60 to the West Side... Nah. There is a LOT of traffic in that part of town... its gonna exacerbate the bunching/delays problem that troubles the Q60 today.

I, personally think there should be more short turns (I think there are a very small amount that terminate at 33 St (7) station, iirc.)

If there are more short turns added, have them terminate at 33rd or Queens Plaza or 46 St (7) or even QCM. I think it may fix the problem.

  3. Coming back will you be using subway, n4, other NICE line?  I'm interested to see what happens because coming eastbound I've done (E) - n4 - n19 and have been charged an additional fair getting on the n19. (J) - n4 - n19, been an additional fair on the n19 and throughout the years have entered at various different subway stations on different lines and have transferred to the (E) or (J) - n4 - n19 and have been charged $2.50 when I got on the n19 everytime.  :(

n15. So the n4 ride will be less than the one you've done. Lets see how it goes.

  4. Well I tried to see if I can get that double transfer yesterday on the n6.

    I did this :

    (going to Queens)

    10:23 n15 to HTC 10:36 (was an Orion V CNG too #1686)

    10:48 n6 to 179 11:32 (#1660)

    11:38 (F) train out of 179

    and got it.

    (going home)

    7:20 (6) train @ 33 St to 51st St 7:25

    7:35 (E) train to Roosevelt Av 7:46

    8:00 (F) train to 179 ST 8:25

I run up the stairs and see #1663 on the n6 @ 8:26

got off at Fulton/Terrace and cross the street @ 9:02

Then @ 9:06 the n15 Long Beach bound comes and I get on and the 3way transfer worked as well. #1650

so its confirmed that it works both ways using the n6...

now next week i'll test it on the n4.

  5. Sorry.  lmao j/k wasn't me.  :D

I don't know specifically on the n6 because I've only ridden it a handful of times...  but I take the n19<->n4<->subway often, pay only $2.50, get the free transfer onto the n4, and a free transfer onto the subway so I assume it's the same on the n6.  Keep in mind you have to have a metrocard to transfer to the subway as you can't use paper transfers to transfer into the subway.

However, this does not work in reverse.  I swipe my metrocard in the subway in the city, free transfer onto the n4, then get charged on the n4.  In the morning I get the n19 to Freeport lirr and get a free transfer into the subway at Penn.  However, if I swipe my card at the subway in the city, take the lirr to Freeport I don't get a free transfer when I get the n19, the full fare gets deducted from my mertocard.

I asked a few B/O's and was told it's a glitch in the system and others tell me it's because I only have 2 hours to make a transfer.  I know that's not true because I have had scenario's where the I'd get in the subway, train would come in a couple of minutes, then run on the train at Penn right before it left,  10 min subway ride, 45 minute LIRR ride...  so with waiting for the  (1) train and transferring at Penn we're talking maybe an hour total nowhere near the 2 hour time limit.

Thank you! I have the option of taking the n4 as well, no one before had told me about the n4 though. I'll try it with n15 -> n6 -> subway and n15 -> n4 -> subway and update you.

I've heard about 2 hour limit too, I don't think its that, I think it may be a glitch.

  6. Let me help you put all of this together, concerning oregonmichal5.

First off he has no interest in the opposite sex AT ALL. Second it is apparent he may be suffering from a mental disorder made apparent from his disruptive and delusional patterns of thoughts reflected in his posts, as well as his erratic behavior, that is disrupting two transit forums at once. He cannot even think constructively. Third he is obsessed with you.

I'm not even trying to be funny.

Someone needs to bring this to his attention. He needs to see a psychiatrist. Or if he is being treated already, his medications will have to be adjusted and psychotherapy will need to be modified. I can clearly see it. It's a mental illness, its apparent from what we are seeing here apparent by his grandiose ideas and again his strange way of thinking.

1.) not everyone has interest in the opposite sex :P he is only what 13?

2.) I thought he may have some disorder himself. I heard he either has asperger's or autism (I'm 80% sure it is autism) from someone who has met the kid (I'll get a confirmation from my source). I thought he had ADHD myself.

3.) Lack of social intelligence? Difficulty in the ability to make successful friendships, which may lead to his obsession with people.

  7. This!

Don't worry... We have folks here who are quick to pick up who's who here... I wouldn't be surprised if this "spy" of his is just him with another account...

Well we found his other account in the chat.. he's probably just using that as an alibi to divert possible suspicion

  8. Anyways, new proposal. Reroute the Q13 to Cambria Heights at 227 Street/114 Avenue via Bell and Springfield Boulevards. This is to make the route redundant to the Q27 (in a good way though) and siphon off some passengers who use it since that route is overcrowded. Also in this proposal, the Q31 would be rerouted onto Francis Lewis Boulevard (exactly like B35viaChurch's earlier proposal to straighten that route. This Q13 rerouting also makes it even more unnecessary for the Q31 to run down Bell Boulevard. Here's the map of it:

    https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=214089513480814599261.0004e2eb808e72bf8bf3c

Also Q13 doesn't need to do Fort Totten-Flushing as the Q16 already does that job already and the Q28 is nearby too.

You have to be kidding me...

The Q27 has a large ridership base because of certain locations, which your Q13 bypasses.

I'm gonna say this again, because it seems like you aren't getting it.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

  9. Went to Olive Garden for the first time yesterday...a little on the pricey side, but damn them breadsticks. Its like i was in heaven lol.

The food was great (had the fettucine alfredo), the service was wonderful, and me and my girlfriend both enjoyed ourselves.

...kinda wish i had more of them breadsticks right now

Nice that you two had a great time.

Those breadsticks and Red Lobster's biscuits are like heaven, but they're extremely fattening :(

  10. Hey, hi, back from my vacation in Florida. Sup everyone, how you doing!

Came home tonight to open my luggage to this, off to a good start:

    524008_10152122903907355_1476069295_n.jp

    Hello Brett!

I like how it says "By law, we are required to check ALL checked baggage,"

    then it says...

"Some bags were physically opened and inspected."

  11. Well Q22 is a local route however and Q67 is broke. And the Q47 would get better ridership if it terminated at Myrtle Avenue because then it can connect to the Q55. And since it's a small extension, it makes sense. Remember part of the things that makes a bus route effective is providing connections to other transit lines. Hardly anyone uses the Q67. I barely if ever see one and when I do, there's like 1 passenger on it. The only reason it's still in use is that industrial workers use it as it is the only bus that serves an industrial location on a stretch of 55 Avenue between 48 and 58 Streets. Sending it to Forest Hills eliminates it's redundancy to the Q39 which more effectively carries passengers to Middle Village as it is more direct (although it's still crooked somewhat but it's the best option). Also to answer your question: I do from time to time ride these routes. And the Q88 I never been on it east of Main Street.

It wouldn't be any more direct by making it go to Forest Hills....

I know a few people who use the Q67 as well.

So what if the Q22 is a local route? It is on the same road. No one is calling for a bus to run on Woodhaven to Far Rock when there is the (A) train as well..

I've ridden the Q39 and the Q67 and they serve two different areas. The area of middle village that the Q67 serves is only served by the Q38 (one route that I'd never wanna push people onto.)

  12. That makes sense but that doesn't excuse them for doing stupid things to their bus routes like cutting the B37, having the Q38 loop in an almost complete circuit, or f*** up headways on certain routes. Yes you are right that it's mostly due to those reasons but MTA could better manage it's transit lines.

The MTA could do way worse, you seem to forget how big our system is and how hard it is to maintain...

The Q38 was a private bus company route before the take over, the MTA didn't make it in a loop btw.

Would you rather have hour headways during the day on every route, like other systems do?

  13. Q38- That's why I took my proposed Q51 (which would replace the Q38P) off Penelope Avenue and rerouted it down Furmanville Avenue.

Q47-Well Atlas is a dead mall like you yourself say millions of times. No one even uses the Q47 there. And if they are transferring to the Q54, they do it at 80 Street and Metropolitan Avenue. Plus the route isn't altered, it is just a slight extension because Atlas is a bad place to end a bus. And a decent amount of people board the Q29 at Myrtle Avenue and some of those people would probably use the Q47 if it went there.

Q52-The Q52 is not redundant to the Q53. It's actually a branch of it technically. Also it is not redundant to the Q22. Otherwise the Q53 would also be redundant to it too which it isn't

Q67-Well it's better than sending it to Middle Village where it loses ridership to the Q39 and by straightening the Q18 those people on the section I'm leaving out to straighten the Q67 would still be able to take that bus. Also just because it uses the Q23 terminal doesn't make it redundant to it either.

Q88-I have mixed thoughts about limited. As good as limited sounds, I'm not sure if the demand is there for it. But we are in full agreement that any extension made to the Q88 would be a disaster. Making that route longer makes it's reliability even worse than it is now. That route has horrible headways and bunching. When the bus finally comes, there is another one right behind it.

    Q38 - okay, fine.

Q47 - just because a bunch of people board a certain bus in a certain location, doesn't mean they'll board another bus in the same location.

Q52 - the purpose of the Q52 is to serve Arverne, you're making it unreliable by going to Woodside. The Q53 is unreliable. Extending the Q52 to Far Rock is FAR MORE redundant than the current Q53 routing to Rockaway Park. Extending the Q52 basically makes it do 50% of the Q22 already...

    Q67 - if it ain't broke don't fix it.....

Q88- a limited is better than extending it all the way to Ridgewood or Middle Village. Have you ever ridden that Q88? Those buses get CRUSHED and during school time, there are a f**kton of kids along the route due to the HS in the area (John Bowne, Francis Lewis, etc..) guess you've never ridden it.

which leads me to wonder... do you actually go out and ride these routes for yourself? or do you sit at home and just look at maps?

  14. I really wonder if Q90 actually rides these routes that he's commenting about...

    - about the 47 to Myrtle idea:

it's kind of redundant, the 29 is there already... I actually know quite a few people who do transfer to the 54 from the 47 (myself being ONE OF THEM on occasion). and Q23 lives in the area, he knows it very well.

    - Q52 to Woodside

I think this is redundant too... Having ridden the whole 53 route on numerous occasions, bobtehpanda is correct, the Woodside-QCM segment is the slowest part, loads of traffic and the buses get packed along the segment..

Adding the 52 isn't gonna help the traffic. Must I also say, the whole idea won't work UNLESS the MTA fixes the damn 52/53 schedules... The 52 always shows up a minute behind the 53, and the 53 takes the load... ain't no use of extending the 52 unless you get the schedules done right.

Idk what to think about the Far Rock extension tbh... but it is redundant to the 22 which already goes there...

    - about the Q67 idea

Q23 is right, you are depriving an area of no other service from their bus service, that is the LAST thing you wanna do!

and again, your routing is redundant. It ends right with the Q23... If you wanna extend it to somewhere, terminate it somewhere no other bus does, unless it is a terminal.

    - the Q88 idea

you ALL are beating this like a dead horse!

I already said, if you extend the route, its gonna make it unreliable! and it makes the route unnecessarily LONG. (It reminds me of the N20/N22, those extremely long NICE routes)

I do like the idea of a Q88 LTD, but I don't like the idea of extending it...

I think if you wanna tinker with the Q38, divide it in two.

Make the Eliot portion go somewhere like Ridgewood (you get the idea)

and send the Penelope portion to Flushing, and possibly reroute it off some of those narrow streets, that make the Q38 as unreliable as it is!

EDIT: With your Q67 routing proposal, if it was ever implimented, the MTA would reroute it to Atlas probably, just like they did with the Q54.

  15. The Q88 is unreliable at times sometimes I waited 30 minutes for a bus to show up. If anything keep the Q88 the way it is because extending it will decrease reliability.

That's the case with any route... increasing the length can decrease its reliability.

I don't see why everyone wants to extend it so bad,,, it is fine the way it is.... if it ain't broke don't fix it...

  16. Yup or just split Q38 and have Penelope branch do it or extend Q38P but interline it's trips with Q15/16/15a ect.

Plenty go there from flushing  via transit and cars.

People in Rego Park, go to Flushing, including error, no doubt about that.....

but what is the point of making it go to whitestone....
