  1. But where are the deadheads going? It may be cheaper to deadhead to Hempstead or Hicksville and run in service to Jamaica compared to pulling a bus out of MF. Run 501 out of Yonkers Depot makes a trip on BxM11 from 241 Street and White Plains Road to Manhattan, followed by deadheading back to 241 Street and White Plains Road and making another trip on the BxM11. Could Yonkers send a bus to 241 Street instead of the deadhead?Sure. But is there enough work to pull a bus out for one trip?
  2. 80 and 81 interline at Sunrise Mall On Sundays, 55 and 71 interline at Sunrise Mall 24 interlines with 79 on Saturdays and Sundays 46 and 50 interline at Bellmore 40 and 41 interline at Mineola.
  3. I looked at the new schedule: 81 leaves Hicksville at :40 and arrives Sunrise Mall at :22. Bus leaves Sunrise as 80 at :30 and arrives Hicksville at :05 80 leaves Hicksville at :10 and arrives Sunrise Mall at :45. Bus leaves Sunrise as 81 at :53 and arrives HIcksville at :35 I count only two buses required.
  4. Terminating the N80/81 at Hicksville is more than route restructuring. It's a cost saving. Currently, three buses are needed to operate the two routes. The bus arriving Broadway Mall has a 28 minute layover before the next trip. Now, only two buses are needed. Each route has a 5 minute layover before returning to Sunrise Mall.
  5. It turns out that Shorehaven refers to Shorehaven Beach Club. But that still doesn't explain routes 1, 2 nor 3. That part of the question will remain a mystery.
  6. That explains Shorehaven. It's strange that the readings book that reads 1 Shorehaven, 2 Shorehaven, and 3 Shorehaven but no destinations in the other direction.
  7. I appreciate your efforts. I couldn't find anything either.
  8. I have to correct some information. The curtain readings were from West Farms, not Coliseum. Routes 1, 2, and 3 went to Shorehaven. There is a reading for "27 to Clason Point" so I doubt Shorehaven and Clason Point are the same. The side sign curtain for Routes 1, 2, and 3 is also Shorehaven.
  9. But what about the other question about Shorehaven?
  10. What was the address of Coliseum depot? The depot used have routes that went to Shorehaven? Where was Shorehaven?
  11. Abba's question was referring specifically to Manhattan.
  12. is running into Manhattan. http://www.mta.info/sites/default/files/pdf/HurricaneRecoveryMapOct312012.pdf Looks like the isn't running.
  13. Today is September 2 and new schedules aren't on the website.
  14. I explained how it works in the "Interlining" thread. You can't pull a bus from one route. They flip routes at Broadway and Sunrise. I bet there are plenty of spare buses on Saturdays anyway.. The issue isn't availability of buses. The issue was putting service on the N51 without increasing costs. VWM's point was to redirect buses from N80/N81 to N51.
  15. I explained how it works in the "Interlining" thread. You can't pull a bus from one route. They flip routes at Broadway and Sunrise.
  16. It takes three buses to operate N80/81 Saturday service. What do you mean switching out one of the N80/81 Saturday services? If you take a bus from N80?81, the headway would greatly increase.
  17. Shortline Bus wrote that Jericho Turnpike is used as an alternative route when the Southern State is jammed and Joel mentioned that the distance between the two is 5 miles. A new posting is always placed last, even if it refers to a post that is much earlier. Sometimes the original post and replied post are separated by unrelated posts, which happened in this case.
  18. Thank you for making my point. How many times are you going to write "Discontinue the n80 and retain the n81 peak hours"? Isn't 20 times enough?
  19. The tirades against the county executive are beyond boring. NICE is correcting service levels so why is there complaining?
  20. I don't think they are going to restore cuts unless the cuts saved more than the originally planned $7M in savings. I think they are going to fix the N6 and N6X.
  21. But Veolia has to care because their profit is based on ridership. Yes, they have a guarantee. But if ridership falls, the death spiral of cutting routes to save money begins. I thought Veolia was hired because the MTA was on the death spiral route.
  22. Taklng a closer look, the N24 is scheduled to arrive Hicksville at 11:34. Maintaining the same lateness (16 minutes) it would have arrived HIcksivlle at 11:50. N79 would leave 5 minutes late. I don't see the problem holding the N79 for 5 or 6 minutes compared to telling a N24 passener to wait 55 minutes for the next N79. The N79 is scheduled to arrive Walt Whitman at 12:21 and turnaround at 12:30, which can handle a 5 minute delay.
  23. NICE had a system pick for the new schedules. There may be new drivers on the N6. That doesn't excuse missing stops. It just explains it. Hopefully, drivers will talk to their supervisors and get clarification.
