My cousin told me that on the LIRR, when they reach the end of third-rail power, a locomotive is attached to the EMU and the train is pulled for the rest of the route. Is this true?

I wonder of any of the R68 sets are going to make their way to the . I'd love to relive being 7-9 years old with the screaming WH 1447J motors on the R68/A.

Today I happened to drive by CIY and saw 5 R68/As signed up as (N)s.

R68As have really high pitched horns.

I love the sound of the RTS's Allison transmission shifting into 2nd gear.

I need to hear moar of that R68A dynamic braking sound...good thing I'm riding the tomorrow.

Where's the handbrake located in SMEEs and what does it look like?

Back in the spring I met a railfan on my other forum...

Am I the only one who loves the sound of the dynamic brakes on a SMEE?

Time for a simple and basic scenario that doesn't involve suspension system-wide.
Due to an supermarket fire at Simpson Street (plus debris from the fire ending up on the uptown station platform and tracks), and train are running with delays.
Reroute or suspension away (you get a vote up for adding the effect on bus service too as of extra credit just to make it a bit fun).
Wrong rail past the fire (if it's possible.)
Power has been lost on the BMT Southern Division. Reroute/suspsend away.

I like the R160B slam noise better.
Same here. It gives me that satisfaction that the door locked and I'm not going to fall out of the train.

Has anyone else noticed that the door interlocks on the R160A doesn't make that slam noise like the R160B?

I took a R160B Alstom yesterday during the Brighton Express G.O. from Kings Hwy to Sheepshead Bay, it was fun.
What's with the hissing R160s lately? I've been hearing them quite often.

That R188 was probably on it's way to be injected into Corona.
I'm going to be very sad when the last of the SMEE fleet is gone.

What does it feel like to get tripped?

Yesterday at around 3:15 at Coney Island (Q)s and (N)s were being turned f**king fast...in and out in 1.5 minutes.
Plus how do train operators do that thing where one door is opened in each car at terminals, and why?

Let's bring this thread back.
The rails at Av U on the Brighton are broken, and trains cannot safely pass. In addition, the switches at Kings Hwy are stuck so that all trains keep going on their current track.

Yay!
I got my first read error on my student card while boarding an RTS on the B-49. Time for a new card, I bent the SHIT out of that card, it's not even funny.

One of the Flatbush RTS's has a vibrating motor, I nearly shat bricks when the motor kicked on.

The R188s are already in service? Gee, I haven't been on NYCTF for a while...
I did see a 188 recently, however.

Holy **** the 188s are already running?
God damn, I haven't been on here for a while, that's a fact.

The funny thing is, I don't look like I know a lot about transportation....
Just to test that out, on my way home from school on the B-49, I asked a B/O,
"Are they eliminating the RTS yet?"
Now, this is at a stop when I asked him. He was taken aback by my knowledge and it took him 3 or so seconds to process what I said before he replied "No, not yet."
Interesting.

This is Windows 7. I have a Lenovo x200S, it's a good computer except for crappy Celeron processor.
I did the background by myself.

Apparently they used to merge with the downtown express track but now they end at bumper blocks and are used for layups.
