  1. Yeah, I've seen that on quite a number of QV LFSes, I thought that part of the sign was just dead.

It isn't dead, on the B3 it says B3 Ave U and then B3 Bensonhurst Harway Avenue just perfectly. I wrote to Ulmer Park Depot asking for a hat and sticker and mentioned that too, a lot of them have that glitch.

  2. BM6:

    Start: (Q) Line-Ocean Parkway Station

    East on Brighton Beach Avenue...

    Left turn onto CI Avenue...

    Straight up CI Avenue

==Express Portion Begins at Church Avenue==

    Right turn onto Church Avenue

    Left turn on Flatbush Avenue

Cross the Manhattan Bridge-Lower Level only!

==Express portion ends when off the bridge==

    Straight down Canal Street

    ==Small non-stop section starts at West Street==

    Left turn onto West Street

==Non-stop section ends at South End Avenue==

Right turn onto South End Avenue

    Terminates at the loop

    Fare: $5.75!

    (for the two express sections)

Edit: I just realized that the line doesn't use any expressways or highways!

  3. I find it easy, I just look around the car, sometimes I see an interesting ad, an interesting object, or some eye candy, if you know what I mean. ;)

I stared at a hot babe for a while on the (B) yesterday coming back. Too bad she got off somewhere while I was viewing an interesting ad.

  4. :). And I try to find somewhere in the middle...It's difficult sometimes when you're a railfan just trying to sit back and enjoy the ride.

I tried to do that yesterday on the (Q) while heading out to Canal Street for tea and I ended up looking at the FIND for the entire trip.

  5. So to clarify the discussion in the subway Fail Thread:

Everyday rider: Okay, here's a (B) that's taking me to Herald Square for work.

Railfan: Here's a (B) train using track A4 on the Brighton Line. He overran by 4 inches. R68A #5032.

    I am the latter.

    Edit: My 300th post!

  6. And I do it the way I do because it all goes back to rule #1:

    Pay attention!!

If riders can't learn to pay attention and be aware of service changes that are in effect to maximize track usage, that is their problem.

Oh, and obviously, in my scenario the Chambers-WTC (E) platform would be closed. People would actually have to walk up to the (A) / (C) platform at Chambers for those trains and switch to the (E) at West 4th OR walk over to Fulton and take the (J) to Essex OR walk to Brooklyn Bridge and take the (6) to Bleecker.

It all goes back to knowing your alternate routes, one of the first things I did when I was living in New York and was old enough to take the subway.

Really? When trains suddenly and unexpectedly get sent to places where they never normally go, I think that people have the right to be confused. No, it doesn't. "Knowing your alternate routes" is not going to teach you why an (E) train would randomly show up in Brooklyn, or where it's headed.

Guys, stop acting like 2-year-olds over this.

    NEXT:

Under stress from twisting and turning for 50 years, the trusses on the Manhattan Bridge give way, and the lower level only collapses. Reroute the (B)(D)(N)(Q).

  7. no, 52. I had a TSS told me he had a slant at 55, but the brakes on those trains were legendary as well. I also had a good 68A train southbound one day months ago and I said if I had it northbound I might have approached 55 on it as well, but of course someone else took it up north and I wasn't operating to test the theory. But it was my first train to enter Newkirk southbound higher than 45.

TwoTimer would you mind PM'ing me a schedule of your trains? I'd like to be on one of them and possibly ask you if I could see how you operate.
