  1. I wonder if these community shuttles will be put on the map. Is there a reason why the n80/81 doesn't get the shuttle treatment?
  2. NICE isn't going to restore that portion of the n19 unless they get the money for that portion, or lawmakers raise a fuss about it.
  3. How are they going to get the n2/8 to serve Franklin Hospital?
  4. You're in luck because NICE is planning on bringing the n80/81 back and running by June.
  5. The county was the one who made the decision to bring most of the routes back. I remember a few Nassau Dems coming up with ways to prevent the cuts back in January, and one of them mentioning the sales tax. NICE had stated on multiple occasions that they would use the money to add service onto the busier routes instead of bringing the low ridership ones back. The rationale for not bringing the n46 or n50 back was that they alternatives, (or assuming that Newbridge Road south of East Meadow to Bellmore doesn't need service)
  6. The article also stated that some of the lines being brought back will use smaller buses and have their travel paths altered. I don't know what was the rationale for reviving the n14 and n17. but them being paired together sounds like NICE might consider combining them into one route. I suspect that the n2/8, n51, and n73/74 are being brought back in September because that's when the school semester begins.
  7. According to Newsday, n14/17 and the n80/81 will be back by June. The n2/8, n51, n62, and n73/74 will be back by September. I'm starting to wonder what's in Massapequa that requires both the n80 and n81 to come back. http://www.newsday.com/long-island/transportation/nice-bus-cuts-to-be-mostly-restored-in-june-official-says-1.11611480
  8. There is a demand for bus service to Jamaica in North Valley Stream, much more than the MTA realizes. Even though the n2/8 loop was discontinued due to low ridership, the county legislator has been trying to get NICE to bring back the route because people need the route to get to their work or their job. The n2 and n3 rush hour trips to Jamaica were cut mostly due to some budget crisis in 2010.
  9. The n1 stop at Elmont Road and Hempstead Turnpike seemed like a better location to have the Q4 terminate, and turn around by having the Jamaica bound bus make a right on the turnpike, followed by another right at School Road to return to Elmont Road. I'm not sure of the Q4 can make the Linden Blvd underpass by South State Pkwy. Plus, the n6 is usually crowded by the time it reaches Elmont Road in both directions, and NICE reduced n1 rush hour service to Peak Hour: To Jamaica AM and To Helwett PM. only. Sometimes, I wished that NICE would go ahead and make the n1 full time to Jamaica instead of letting the n6 do all the heavy lifting. As for demand, there is some demand to Jamaica, I've seen a few people around the North Valley Stream (around the Elmont Rd and Linden area) walk over to Cambria Heights to catch the Q4.
  10. Is it possible to have the Q4 terminate over at Elmont Road/Hempstead Turnpike stop for the n1?
  11. I saw those posters at Mineola. Why do you want the n19 to Babylon back when the S20 is already forming a loop between Sunrise Mall and Babylon? Anyways, NICE said that the county is supposed to decide which route comes back at what level.
  12. NICE should just ignore them and do just that. Those guys will complain no matter what changes NICE make to the system.
  13. Why was the n20 extended to Hicksville LIRR in the first place?
  14. n2, n20 to Roslyn or C.W.Post, n27 to Roosevelt Field, n23 to Hempstead, n50, 73, and 81.
  15. They lost the n2/8, if you consider Meacham to be in Franklin Square and not N.Valley Stream or Elmont.
  16. Do people even use the bus South of Merrick, after the n4 and n35 stop?
  17. Baldwin most likely wants the n35 Westbury trips to be restored instead of short turns at the HTC on Weekdays.
  18. I've heard that a couple of towns in the South Shore are trying to stop non village residents from parking in the LIRR station. It's either that, or Mangano is confident that he'll get that casino in Belmont Park going to generate revenue. I'm guessing that the n80/81, n73/74, and n50 are most likely going to be restored. The n2/8, n51 are maybes.
  19. I don't know, I've always assumed that they go to the depot, or to Green Acres. I still wish the n1 was full time to Jamaica, so that it can help out the n6.
  20. I still see the signs for the n8 and n2 up in Elmont/N.Valley Stream even though the route was eliminated.
  21. The routes had some purpose, but they were overshadowed by other routes. For example, the n17's purpose was to serve Mercy Medical Center, but I've heard that many people have been taking the n16 to Molloy College to get to Mercy because the n16 is much more frequent than the n17. In the case of the n51, there's plenty of alternatives to NCC from Roosevelt Field like the n16, n35, n43, and n45.
  22. The n4 is the only route operating on Sunday Service at this moment according to NICE. Apparently, most of the major transfer points on the county and at Roosevelt Field haven't been plowed yet. https://www.facebook.com/theNICEbus/
  23. All routes except for the n4, n6. n19,n22,n24, n71/n72 have been suspended due to the storm. https://www.facebook.com/theNICEbus/?fref=nf
