  1. I can relate, I've never heard of these rappers either.
  2. What makes you think the rules would be any different than for the front?
  3. It's not disallowed, but it's up to the driver whether he wants to be vindictive and block your view with a coat or not.
  4. If it's an R62A with a half width cab, you are just as entitled to it as you would be on a 32 or 42.
  5. Why? Besides two stickers that were swapped on the front, those trains are virtually identical to the R160s.
  6. Good point about the emergency situations, I hadn't even thought of that. Also, was it ever confirmed that the train incident was the T/O's fault? There seems to be a lot of unnecessary jumping to conclusions.
  7. There's that. Also, aren't tower controllers responsible for setting the switches? The T/O may have been at fault for not clearing this up with the tower (DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT PRETEND TO KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT RTO OPERATIONS, I AM MERELY GUESSING BASED ON WHAT AVAILABLE INFO I HAVE), but he has no control over the actual positions of the switches.
  8. I'm pretty sure every RTO employee that read your post cringed.
  9. The AC on the 62s does not need relieving.
  10. Reread his post, whiny mess that it is. "Of course, even if NTTs miraculously stay on the ," He's assuming the NTTs will be leaving.
  11. Oh great, it's this guy again. And for the record, the NTTs ARE staying on the . They will be a minority of the fleet, but they are staying. I feel like this topic has been beaten to death.
  12. Speaking of the orange stickers, why do some cars have a diamond in them? MTA Subway 2054 - 01 by Andrew P., on Flickr
  13. They were in the tunnel, the station always had tail tracks.
  14. And that's nice and all, but it still doesn't convince anyone that this swap will actually be happening. The overwhelming odds are that your "source", as you call it, is pulling your leg.
  15. There is no way in hell that's happening. Politics has no sway on car assignments, and the agency is not going to be stupid enough to get rid of the operational flexibility offered by digital destination signs. Besides, if Pelham's politicians weren't receptive to the R62As, what makes this "source" think those on the 2/5 would be? There will be no swap.
  16. This. If anything, there might be less service in the summer (less trains), because of no school.
  17. Agreed, this is the most ridiculous complaint I've ever seen.
  18. Not so. If you go to Corona yard and look down, you will see that there are random 5 or 6 car sets lying around, not always full trains. You swap out the problem set for one of those. What is your source for the R143 thing? Cause whatever it is, it's wrong.
  19. Maybe off-peak, but in the rush hour I can't see there being enough trains left around the yard that they're able to pull a full 11 car set off line in exchange for another. What are you talking about? No one said anything about 5 car sets. The R143 in Canarsie (there's no island in the yard's name) does nothing to further your argument either. The R143s operate in 8 car trains, each made up of 4 car sets. When the R143 smashed through that bumper, the only cars that were affected were the rest of the 4 car unit. 8277 was the car that hit the bumper, so that would mean 8277/78/79/80 are out of service, nothing else.
  20. Except for the rest of the 4 car consist that it was a part of.
  21. Wait, what? Why? Why not swap out a broken set for another one of the same size?
