  1. Not for nothing, but between the major delays with the R179s and the Flexities in Toronto, I wouldn't ask Bombardier to wash my car, lest I be waiting for said car wash five years later, never mind build a major transit vehicle order.
  2. If you use this terminology in discussions, no one will understand what you're referring to.
  3. R.I.P. Alan Rickman.

  4. A message to all people who play music to an audience: there is far better Christmas music than that put out by Justin Bieber. Please go far away, thanks.

  5. It hasn't have to be a door failure, it could be a failure of any component. A train could very well stall in the event of a traction motor failure, for example.
  6. How do you figure that they aren't "safe" and "secure" on the ? Do you think that tunnels are somehow worse for them than elevated structures?
  7. The R46s received LCDs when they underwent their general overhaul almost 25 years ago - at the time they were nowhere close to retirement. The R46s already had electronically operated rollsigns when they were delivered, the driver could change the displays on the train from his cab. When they retrofitted them with LCDs it was just a matter of swapping out the rollsigns for the digital signs. The R68s have manually operated signs.
  8. It's not going to be all SMEEs. And the reliability of the R62As are fine. And are you trying to justify the vandalism that VIP described in his post?
  9. That doesn't prove anything. It could just be that they had no need for the R160s on the since they've resolved the issue. If you don't see NTTs up at 242 St on the , does that mean they have electrical problems too? Correlation does not imply causation.
  10. I doubt they'll plan to send them back, but if they did, ENY wouldn't have a say in the matter.
  11. Kids can be dicks to each other - do you have any concrete evidence that they actually pushed the chord or are you just partaking in blatant character assassination?
  12. Question for those of you that mock Javier - how do you imagine that destination signs programs are made? The vast majority of destination signs are made on computers and stored on harddrives, then uploaded to the control units on board the vehicles. Luminator signs on buses use USB sticks with the option of info upload via wifi, and because that's how the is, R142/As use floppy disks.
  13. And why not? What would they have to gain by making this up?
  14. You are wrong - the R62A order was complete by 1987. There was some shuffling around of car fleets initially, but, as per NYCSubway:
  15. Bombardier encountered considerable delays with the R62A order, but they ultimately completed the delivery on time. This was accomplished by putting in 2 or 3 times as many cars into service in one fell swoop as expected.
  16. Pullman should have stuck to making PCCs and railway cars.
  17. They are being paid to deliver a product. If they can't make good on the deliveries, they don't deserve the money from future contracts.
  18. Oh, I thought he meant that the R32s would be retired and the R179s would be delivered by 2017. My mistake.
  19. My comment was in response to R32 3838's comment. You can't replace the R32s with nothing.
  20. You think Bombardier will be able to deliver 300 cars in 1 or 2 years? Their abysmal track record in recent times has made it quite clear that they can't.
