  1. These RTS 😣 Whats the deal with FB still holding onto a few batch?..
  2. I have spoken to two Dispatchers and Road Operation Superintends regarding hiring freeze and they all stated they need as much Operators on board before April 2019 due to the L train service shut down especially for Brooklyn and Manhattan Divisions. Even operators who are currently on the "Eligible" Promotion list to become dispatcher will be moving forward before April 2019. They stated that the system needs 400+ more operators. Yesterday I saw a training bus near my home, so that tells you they're still hiring, just might be a delay for certain Titles division (TA,OA, or MTA Bus).
  3. Actually every operator is suppose to operate the bus at a safe speed 15 - 20 mph. But some operators take a chance.
  4. OA Operators are only allowed to pick within Manhattan, Bronx and Respective TA Depot in Brooklyn. For vacation pick, you will be giving a time and date to pick your vacation days, but if you’re still in probation you may be eligible for a certain days like (2 - 4) days of vacation availability. You should ask your Chairman/Vice union for more information. Picking out of a depot while still in probation is a choice. Always make a wise move that will benefit you. When I was in Probation I had the chance to pick out and headed to where I wanted to go. Nothing changes as far your status but just a different environment and staff.
  5. The updated XD’s we’re receiving drives soooooooooo smooth. No jerking like the 2015 versions, and the steering mechanism is smoother.
  6. MTA is manage by the state which is why its listed as State officials. But not to be off topic, I read an article a couple of days ago regarding should the city take control over MTA since many people were not satisfied with the way Albany is handling MTA.
  7. Im pretty sure they’ll call you. As much Operators are needed is high demands. The more that comes, the more promotions are taken place.
  8. If I’m correct, I believe one of the members here received the same letter but still got called?......
  9. If you pay for an SBS ticket and get on the local instead, the operator suppose to honor it. You paid your fare respectively. DOT and NYPD needs to help us out but it doesn’t looks like things will change unless the Mayor say something.
  10. I believe that bus was involved in a collision. When I was heading to work, I noticed a sedan door turned the opposite way. The ambulance , NYPD and MTA supervisions was at the scene.
  11. Information from members on this forums are accurate. Majority of us are in the system and went through the entire process. When members gives their suggestions, its best to listen since some of us are already employed and went through the transition process. Countless time from past different exams it has been mentioned to not to quit daily jobs until you officially pass the training process. I understand what happened this week made candidates excited that they were about to become part of the family. 180 Livingston doesn’t controls who gets hired or not. They’re there to process you in and prepare you to the next level getting employed. Let me make this clear, they’re are the first step to process you in HR level to see whether or not you fit to move forward to the training process. The two final stage becoming part of the family officially is Passing the 7 - 10 training stage. Making it through the One year probationary period. So my advice for everyone here is to carefully listen and read pasted other members experiences just so you understand the transition steps.
  12. You need Both Passenger and Air brakes endorsement added. The S - School endorsement you don’t need it for Transit but its good to have it already just in case you decided to go work for a school bus company.
  13. Make sure to add the other endorsements such as P - Passengers and B- Air brakes when you take the CDL test
  14. For me the pay is great and comfortable at the moment. Everybody situation is different. This job can either have you owning properties and live well, or put you into debt along with other negative situations.
  15. I’m not talking about 180 Livingston. The actual sizes per training classes sometimes can be around 40 to 80 students and that all depends on hiring needs in the system. Each Depot has a percentage on how many employees they need to cover the depot work usage. For example, if a depot lost a few operators due to Promotion, Operator retired, Termination, Operator deceased, Operator Resign, or the depot gained another route onto their roster. The depot sends Zerega and HR dept the amount they need to replace the caused of nature. So if I lost 3 operators, I need to replace that 3 asap. Like right now I believe my depot has 600 operators on the roster, so if one goes, the depot will request for another new hire to fill in the position.
  16. All depends on hiring needs. Sometimes up to 60-80 students per class. Sadly, they already know a good handful will not make it.
  17. 🤦🏽‍♂️ Oh No! Please everyone don’t quit your daily job Until you officially pass the 7-10 day training.
  18. After Drug test (3 - 90 days) wait, you will be called in for Medical Process. If everything goes well with Medical, you will be sworn in by the HR management at Livingston and given an official date when you have to go to Training School (Zerega). Please Dont listen to the staff that stated you will start training this Monday if you haven’t went through the 19a MTA medical process and sworn in by the HR hiring management. Based on the past posts on the forum regarding hiring process and 180 Livingston staff, it seems things been a little weird how they’ve been operating.
  19. Same basic concept as always and nothing changes according to the reading guide. The only difference you may experience is the pressure the Supt Instuctor may apply on certain things due to recent incidents that occured which the safety department learn based on these type of scenarios and wants to make sure new students are not doing. Example: Operators who started before the vision zero was implemented may have had a different learning experience compared to now.
  20. Yeah you will be picking for vacation time sometime during October or November. Every depot function different when they process picks and etc. Most likely you’ll probably be eligible for 2 - 5 vacation days. During my probation stage I was only eligible for 4 days. After probation you will be eligible for 2 weeks of vacation days. Like LeoSimmy stated all the good months such as Summer or Thanksgiving month will be gone due to seniors. Save all your AVA’s and OTO’s, because they come in handy if you need to request a certain day off during probation. As long its an AVA or OTO you use during probation to request off You wont get extended. But if you call out sick, each day you miss you will have to make those days before you’re cleared from probation. Best advice during probation is to avoid calling out unless you’re seriously ill and doctor stated you are unable to be in service. The depot General Supt of Transportation has ZERO tolerance for poor attendance during probationary. When I first started a few operators out of ENY was drilling into my head how the GS let go 10 probies due to attendance and reporting to work late.
  21. Pre trip is easy. There isn’t that many lights, usually everything is by groups of selection. For example “Both Head lights and clearance lights are working and not broken” you get the idea? The scanning mirrors and forward planning is skills that you will have to develop. Its very important to scan your mirrors and know whats going on around the bus or whats going to happen ahead before you approach the situation. Not being distracted is another skill that will have to develop especially in most case you will have passengers coming to you asking questions while the bus is in motion. Some Supt Instructors purposely keep talking and talking or yelling while you’re In the seat operating the bus just to prepared you to what you will face everyday when you’re in that seat in passenger service.
