So I decided to see if there was any updates on recent deliveries according to the MTA and I came across something interesting from the MTA website updated as of July 5, 2023:

    Event #: B40695

Description: Furnish and deliver 250 over-the-road express diesel buses

    Manufacturer: Prevost Car (US) Inc

This would be the last Prevost order before the NY plant is shut down? A shame that it's more Prevosts because I like the ride quality in MCI's a tiny bit better.

How many buses are on order if you have that info?

250 units with 131 more if the option is exercised. More than enough to replace the old CLs and the Spring Creek CTs if the option order goes through.

Would it be possible that these Prevosts replace the worst 2005-07 MCIs at MTA Bus? I would imagine the MCIs have more mileage and are in worse condition than Ulmer’s Prevosts but I could be wrong.

There's already an order in place for new Prevosts to do just that. Bringing the 2400s would not be necessary.

  3. During the last weekend of June (28th-29th), (2) Trains are running to Dyre Avenue while (5) Trains are terminating at East 180th Street. Free shuttle buses will replace (2) train service from East 180th St to Wakefield.

For two straight weekends (June 28th-July 1st and July 5th-8th), (R) Trains are terminating at the 9th Avenue (D) Train station. Shuttle buses are running from 36th St to 95th Street. A note that only downtown (N) Trains will serve 45th & 53rd St as downtown (N) Trains are running local from DeKalb Ave + uptown trains are running express. The late night (R) will not run during this G.O.

A note for riders that use the Yankee Stadium stop: The transfer will be an out-of-system transfer a la 59th St. Riders will have to use their MetroCard/OMNY transfer to change between (4) Trains and (B)(D) Trains at the station starting tomorrow until sometime next year. The escalators and staircases that are used to transfer between the two are being replaced.

    Greetings!

If anyone is interested, 9198 is currently on the Q104. It's currently heading towards Sunnyside.

So for those who want pictures on a LaGuardia route.

They’ve 3 units over there been running for over a week now.

Side note, if nobody mentions it, it's not scrap. Seeing too many posts asking about supposedly retired buses that are actually active and it's throwing me and others off.

    4033, 4155, 4266 JFK all haven’t ran in 2 weeks? What’s happening and 4650, 4653 haven’t ran for almost a month

Let's try to keep these questions in the random thoughts thread. If they are confirmed to be retired, you can come back and post it here to reduce the clutter. It really does get confusing seeing inquiries mixed with actual movement posts.

  6. So the (SF) Franklin shuttle won't run for three straight weekends (June 14-17, 21-24, 28-July 1st)

Also, (N) Train service is being split for the weekend of June 21-24. It will run between Astoria & Queensboro in Queens and between Times Square & Coney Island. (Q) Trains are running local in Manhattan, and (R) trains are running on the (F) line from 57th St-7th Ave to Queensbridge that same weekend.

    You're absolutely right.

    REVISED Proposal

    1) LIRR Cross Honoring

    2) Q116 Limited Bus

Far Rockaway-Brooklyn College via. Beach Channel Dr.

    3) Q117 LIMITED

Far Rockaway-Sheepshead Bay vía. Rockaway Beach Blvd.

    4) Q118-Howard Beach/Lefferts Blvd-Mott Ave FREE Shuttle Bus. This way passengers can use either (A) train

    5) Q119-Rockaway Blvd-Beach 90 Street FREE Shuttle Bus, stopping at Broad Channel.

    6) (H) train Far Rock-Rock Pk, FARE FREE

    7) QM16/QM17 off peak and weekend service

8)NYC Ferry enhanced service. Extend Rockaway Ferry to DUMBO after Wall St for Downtown Brooklyn Connections. Extend St. George Ferry to Sunset Pk so the West Side is accessible with a transfer.

You're still putting too much for a shutdown period that's only lasting for half a year. I'm pretty sure a lot of these would end up not being used and some of the ideas you put (cross honoring and the shuttle service from Rockaway Park to Far Rock (not fare-free)) are already part of the plans.

Besides, there aren't a lot of bus ops available to justify creating these routes. If anything, you'll see cuts to the current Rockaways routes to see those in fruition.

It’s sad that this hasn’t been publicized more. Meanwhile the (L) shutdown and the (F)(M) swap was advertised extensively. This will be a SEVERE disruption to a transit desert.

It would be nice if we could single track across the bridge and flats! But since we can’t, I propose the following to mitigate the damage.

    1) LIRR Cross Honoring

    2) Q115 Limited Bus

Far Rockaway-Brooklyn College via. Beach Channel Dr.

    3) Q116 LIMITED

Far Rockaway-Sheepshead Bay vía. Rockaway Beach Blvd.

    4) (C) to Lefferts. Don’t split the (A) AND make shuttle buses required.

    5) Howard Beach-Mott Ave Shuttle Bus

    6) Rockaway Blvd-Beach 90 Street vía. Broad Channel Shuttle Bus.

    7) (H) train Far Rock-Rock Pk, FARE FREE

The article mentions that LIRR cross honoring is part of the plan for the Rockaways shutdowns. The Rockaway Shuttle is planned to run between Rockaway Park & Far Rockaway (not fare-free) during the planned shutdown period.

Also, putting more strain on Lefferts would not be a good idea as (A) trains are still going to terminate there during the time the Rockaways are inaccessible and Howard Beach would not be able to handle all the (A) trains that would be taken off Lefferts if the (C) were to go there instead. All I see from that is Ozone Park riders complaining about the service reduction with putting the (C) there during the planned shutdowns.

For buses, the only planned things are beefed up service on the existing routes on top of a non-stop shuttle between Howard Beach & Far Rock, plus a shuttle between Beach 67th & Broad Channel. Not sure how a 35 Limited would be beneficial for (A) train riders that don't go to Flatbush aside from adding travel time to get to the alternate (2) and (5) service.

From reading the article, it seems like the NJT buses will only be cannabilized for parts, but will not run in service? Is that right?

Im glad to see that Samuelson is pushing for increased express bus service. No one internally at the MTA seems to have thought of that brilliant idea!

No, they’re for service. One of them has already been painted in the old MTA colors (2200) and the other 14 are being fixed up. You can find a picture of it on the Fleet & Depots thread.

My guess is that this order will retire all the remaining NG’s from NYCT.

Not much movement as the allotment is small for the depots (if the list is to believed) and some diesels may be kept around in case the electrics crap out.

JFK is not confirmed to get 179 buses. Deployment as of this week still has JFK at 153, 26 buses unassigned, and LGA to get 83.

I’ve been trying to find this for a while because I know it was posted before but what are the depot assignments for the 2023-2024 MTA Bus LFS order?

    BP is 8964-9009

    JFK is 9009- 9189 I’m assuming

    LGA 9190-9271?

Wasn’t there some unassigned buses in this order?

Aside from Baisley's allotment, it's still unclear what specific range LGA and JFK are getting with 26 units still unassigned at this time.

  12. 8990 has returned to Baisley Park after being used as a training unit at LaGuardia. The aforementioned 8983 took its place for training.

Side note, has anyone actually spotted 8968 in service? It was reported that it was delivered, but I have yet to see any evidence of that like 9006 months ago.

  13. Random thought: why did they change the speed of uptown (2)(3) trains entering 96th aside from maybe safety reasons? I've lost count how many connections to the (1) I've lost ever since the change was made as (1) trains enter the station quicker than the express trains do.
