Doesn’t seem to be the case when the MTA is adding them randomly on the (7), the pilot test should’ve occured on just the original 3 stations.

That's too small of a testing pool to determine the effectiveness of the barriers. Not all stations were created equal so it's better to test it out on multiple stations to see where the barriers could be most effective.

Sad news everyone, 34th Street Hudson yards will receive platform barriers, I just saw the marks on the floor, this is a terrible idea since the station will look so off, and there is no reason to add barriers there at all😒

Even with the slow speeds, people can be hit and/or killed by a heavy slow moving train. Some people are stupid enough to push a person onto the tracks at random even if its at a terminal.

    4630 is LGA...

That user was not referring to where the bus currently operates. They're arguing that 4630 was the highest numbered 2009 model of the NG hybrids.

As for the debate at hand, I remember TTMG and other older rosters categorizing the 4600s at JFK as 2010 models in their old roster pages for years. Most sites, including mine, followed that piece of info for years. Now TransitMan is stating that only 4656-onwards are the only 2010 models. It would be nice to see a definitive clarfication, though that in itself is a rather small and somewhat insignificant thing to argue about.

1020 is a 2017 XN60, it’s currently on the legal hold at Eastchester scrap where it will most likely never see service again.

I wouldn't go ahead and say that its definitely retired. Several buses that sat in that area of the lot came back years down the line. 6372 and 4137 come to mind and even 5656 when it had two halfs of different units put together.

  5. So the NJT board voted unanimously in favor of the fare increase. The 15% fare hike will start on July 1st, with a possible 3% increase each year starting in 2025. The Flexpass discount is also set to be eliminated if the fare hike goes through.

So why is the (5) and Lefferts Shuttle (A) the only remaining services to use five car sets late nights?

Would it not save money to just keep them as 10 car sets?

OPTO. The costs would go up with more cars out for longer and having a conductor working the line instead of having the train operator do double-duty with a shortened train which is done on those shuttles and weekend (G) trains.

Philadelphia Transit Vehicles tracker is complete fried. Many incorrect tracking units like 4023 on the 74, 21271 on the 5, and 5898 on the 502, all at PABT.

They don't have the link to the tracker on their site so I wonder how and why you're still using it.

Hi! I applied for two bus operator positions on the MTA website. When I check the status of my applications, under the Company column, one application is NYT and the other is MAB.

Can someone please explain the difference between the two? Thanks!

You applied for positions at MTA New York City Transit & MTA Bus Company. NYCT are the bus depots in Brooklyn, Queens, & Staten Island. MTA Bus Company is the former private bus operators. I would go to the Transit Employment section of the Transit Forums here: https://www.nyctransitforums.com/forum/19-transit-employment/ People like @+Young+ should give better explanations regarding this.

I doubt it would displace any bus to Jamaica since they still have to make up for 7490 at Gun Hill. I highly doubt it would go to anywhere else except gun hill.

Not sure why they need to cover for a unit that's at Grand Ave and was already covered with a Nova in the swap with Gun Hill.

Meadowlands is hosting some Copa America games this summer, which is a mini world cup. Kickoff as late as 9pm. If there are delays (ie medical pause) games wont be let out until 11:30pm.

Will be interesting to see if NJT takes fans to Secaucus and then theres no connection waiting for them.

Unless there's a weather delay or an ungodly amount of injury time is added, there's little chance that the two group stage games end past 11:30. The third game, the semi-final match, kicks off at 8 PM with it possibly ending at 10-11 depending if the game goes to extra time or penalties.

The station will get a renovation, especially since the Futbol Stadium will be there before the World Cup (allegedly).

The stadium will not be done before the World cup. When City Group made the stadium plans public, they stated that it might be completely built by 2027. The venues for the Men's World Cup were already set beforehand.

Are they ever going to restore full service on the Bx20 to midday service?

Its been 14 years since the 20 was made to rush hours only. I doubt they'll change anything as they tend to carry air until 231st.

Please Reply if you know anything.

4027, 4048, 4152, 4163 are still in service. Most of these were in service less than a week ago, so I would not bother judging a bus' status until 3 or more weeks have passed.

I also remember just before the covid lockdowns, the (M) was extended to 168th Street, but it was to replace the (C) train for some reason that's blanking on me at this point. What I do know is that it was the circumstances of that particular G.O. which led to that service pattern. This was also when the (M) was regularly going to 96th on weekends.

Either way, getting the (M) involved in something that has nothing to do with it is unwarranted. Even if the (N) operate every 10 or so minutes on weekends, that means that Astoria riders would be seeing less service than what's proposed under the G.O., if you split up the route to two terminals. That's not to prioritize Astoria riders over everyone else, it's just that there's a lot going on simultaneously. Given everything else that's going on, the 15 minute headway is the least bad scenario.

IIRC, work was being done south of 59th as the (A) ran via the (D) from 59th to West 4th and (E) Trains ran via the (R) to Whitehall. The GO was on March 13-16, 2020, just before the stay at home order was implemented.

That bus barely functioned when it was in service. Not gonna be preserved with a one-off powertrain – probably long-scrapped by now, I'd think.

The bus is still in Eastchester on hold, still with a shot transmission, but it’s not being preserved.
