What's the Flatbush depot renovations gonna be about? I'm curious?

Looks like renovating the whole depot if the map legend is anything to go by.

From the map, it looks like the (MTA) wants to have electric buses at Gleason, Ulmer Park, Jamaica, ENY, Grand, KB, Gun Hill, Eastchester, QV and Hale.

Personally, this map is just PR talk to me so it can make congestion pricing more acceptable to politicians and the general public. I don't really have a strong opinion on it as I haven't kept up with it as much as I should.

The people in Queens would like a word with you.

Local service on Queens Blvd has been abysmal with the lack of the (M). Hundreds of people having been demanding the (MTA) to restore the (G) in it's place just because of how bad it is over there.

Most of the push to have (G) service brought back to QBL (only speaking for this year) stems from the planned summer suspensions that the (MTA) wants to do, but politicians are pushing against unless the (MTA) extends (G) service once construction is complete.

It should be, it’s probably a lie and btw heres 2 more NGs u should add 4393 and 4267. 4267’s farebox is currently on 9275 and 4393 is being driven to scrap as I type this

Just a note, don’t always rely on fareboxes to note if a bus was retired. Those are rotated out constantly between buses within a depot. Do not take this as me disputing the info. Its just a general warning as users in the past relied too much on fareboxes to determine the status of a bus.

Good luck with that. Imagine them trying to have cops on every single local bus in the city, it'd be a resource problem on both ends. It would be nice to see MTA PD finally in the subways and buses. I very rarely see them anywhere else outside of Woodside, Jamaica, Grand Central or Penn Station. Police responses can be slow at times too.

And with how low the trust is with the police, having them in almost every single bus can go south fast. Cases like a passenger getting aggressive or a cop shooting as a first resort leading to backlash and protests will halt this idea fast.

When I was a driver I was one of the very few that actually enforced the fare. It seems nowadays fare beating is considered the norm and trying to enforce it automatically turns into backlash from passengers or from your managers. Which sucks, because it was never this bad 10 years ago. Hell, every time (MTA) puts out a “please pay your fare” PR message on social media, they get a shit ton of hate replies demeaning them for…enforcing the rule?

I truly do hope (MTA) upsizes the eagle team drastically and this new DA actually prosecutes fare beating with a hefty fine.

People seem to forget the murder of the Flatbush driver in Dec 2008 (15 years ago) for not giving the farebeater murderer a transfer. I’m pretty sure nowadays it’s discouraged to engage with farebeaters so things don’t escalate. It’s odd how people say things weren’t bad back then when there are cases where you can point out the opposite.

There is also the following units that were repainted:

    1200-1204, 1206-1232, 5295, 5338, 5791, 5843

There is the following units that were never repainted:
    1233-1285, 5265, 5291-5292, 5294, 5298, 5300-5302, 5307, 5309-5311, 5313, 5315-5316, 5318-5320, 5323, 5329-5337, 5340-5358, 5361-5363, 5822-5823, 5828, 5831, 5833, 5840-5841, 5848, 5852-5853, 5857, 5864, 5867, 5869, 5887, 5911, 5919, 5923, 5928, 5947

The repaint of 5338 was partial. Only the front of the unit got a repaint, with the body retaining the original paint.

5843 was already on the list. Also, 5295 never got a repaint. It only got new labeled numbers on top of the front windows.

The list you provided is missing 5902 and 5933 for the non-repaints.

I think you meant 5849 when you put 5848.

  7. A few notes for the list:

5440 is still in the SBS scheme despite it being at KB for over a year.

    NF C40LF units 301-309, 312-313, 315-318 never got repaints.

    Nova LFSA units 5784, 5798-5799, 5826, 5834-5835, 5838, 5847, 5860, 5910, 5912-5913, 5916, 5963, 5978, 5982 are missing from the repaint list.

Also, Nova LFSA 5902 never got a repaint.

Was there an incident on the (6) train at that time?

    (6) Trains were suspended between 125th & Hunts Point at the time (Weeknight Planned G.O. that started at 9:30 PM).

A lot of the routes, including the B1, still used artics today with little to no issues. Even during the snowfall on Tuesday, a lot of the artic buses ran fine with a few isolated incidents that can also happen to standard-sized units.

The myth is they rotate buses JFK is the main Maintenance for the Local fleet. FR has a Shop it’s just small and used for mostly the Express Fleet. I expect a few LFS to be assigned to FR as #9025 has FR decals.

In this case, the decals don't mean s***. Some buses get them randomly and its been happening for over a decade. Also, only 3-4 Novas have Far Rock decals so I wouldn't use that as an indicator that Far Rock is getting a dedicated fleet.

Since the XD40s are also coming to JFK, it'd be a good idea to send them over there for training.

Unlike Eastchester, JFK has Xcelsior artics on their fleet so they wouldn't need extensive training for the 40-footers like Eastchester needed. They can do with borrowing a unit or using the first delivered unit for training like they did with 9029. Baisley borrwed 8960 when they were prepping for the arrival of the Novas.

So I saw some Grand Ave and Gleason buses doing driver training in the Flushing and Mitchel Gardens area I wonder why they go that far just for training.

Also, are QM21 bus drivers using Queens Blvd now? I saw 2 today which I was surprised about.

The QM21 has two drop-off stops along Queens Blvd (83rd Ave, Main St).
