That bus barely functioned when it was in service. Not gonna be preserved with a one-off powertrain – probably long-scrapped by now, I'd think.

The bus is still in Eastchester on hold, still with a shot transmission, but it’s not being preserved.

Actually it was, there was a paper I saw inside the bus while I visited the depot, and it said not in use, also the fare-box wasn’t inside ….

They use those slips on buses for maintenance as well. Fareboxes are also removed when buses are being worked on, not just when they retire.

I mean in his defense, they did run the (M) to 145th St when the (L) was out, although I forgot the reason why.

That happened nearly 5 years ago when (1)(2)(3) service was cut for a few weekends south of 96th Street. (M) Trains were sent to 145th to supplement service in Manhattan.

Why not then do the (M) to 145 and have the (Q) and half of the (N) both to 96th/2nd (trains not going to Astorita)?  That would solve both issues,

Why send the (M) to the 8th Ave line when there's no need for it that weekend with the (A)(C)(D) and (1) running fine that weekend. Some of these ideas to try to shove the (N) to 2nd Avenue are a bit much for that one weekend.

    Surprised

    6186-89+5894-97 and 2768-2775 weren't reported

As of today, 6186-6189 are on the(W) and 2768-2771 are on the(N)

    5894-5897 we're on the(W)but haven't seen them today.

Both were reported on two different threads in the forums 10 days ago.

R62As 1934+2177-2180 have returned into service on the (1) today. (2177-2180 were involved in the 96 St derailment on January 4)

1934 has red 240 St stickers now.

So 1934 replaced 2176 in the consist. I know that one car was still visible at the 207 St yard by itself.

I was at the upper level of W4th St today and a couple of R46 trains came through, one an A the other a C, and they really are in rough condition even compared to the CI ones that I regularly ride.  If an R211T C train happened to come I was going to take it, but I wasn't going to wait around for it so I just went and did my regular business.  My Q train home was an R46 and didn't pay much attention otherwise.

From my own experiences, I've had rougher running cars from CI than the Pitkin cars even if they look worse cosmetically.

I agree it definitely is unfair, but it seems that no one cares about real solutions anymore. The city’s solution to farebeating is congestive pricing.
They will make the entire bus system free and put the burden on the tax payers to pay up. The money has to come from somewhere which is what a lot of people don’t realize when they advocate for free stuff in society.
All the people who are farebeating must realize that while they may be getting over today they will have to pay up one day in the form of increased taxes.

The solution to farebeating is increase police presence and giving fines to people who don’t follow the rules. However since 2020 no one takes the police seriously and that’s why we are also seeing all this crime in the subways.

I would argue to making the bus system free, but it's pretty f'n obvious not a single person would want to have that conversation without screaming entitlement or not wanting to pay the taxes necessary to fund it. And I recognize that this is a complicated subject topic altogether that can't be solved easily (as much as people like to think it would be by just throwing more police onto buses).

Once again the project to renovate 82nd and 111 street has been delayed again for 4 weeks, this is getting ridiculous, these stations will never open, the contractors are horrible

Better to do that than open pre-maturely and have an accident that gets more negative PR than this. I do get the complaints about the time it’s taken to complete one side of the renovation.

I was bus fanning along the B6/B82/82SBS earlier and not a single person in the span of 15 minutes paid the machine for the SBS82.

I seriously think the TA needs to temporarily discontinue the B82SBS, convert to front door boarding, or have the eagle team at high usage stops to fine anyone who doesn’t pay. This is crazy.

This is something that happens often on almost all routes. That and more people are using OMNY, so I would not make a judgment call just for looking at a stop for the amount of time it takes to finish lunch.

I wonder if Queens Blvd will be fully local during late nights once the (F) is back running all times along 63rd St. If so, then the (D) and (3) would be the only late night express lines.

The (F) already makes local stops during the overnight hours. That change happened a year ago for CBTC work.

So the (7) will run in two sections:

    (7) are not running between 74th Street Broadway and Times Square 42nd Street April 6-8

    Because of accessibility improvements

    (7) will run in two sections

    Flushing-Main St- 74th Street Broadway

    Times Square 42nd Street

This service is pretty rare, hopefully they’d still use this in the future

It's literally the same as the recent weekend G.O. but with the added shuttle between Times Square & Hudson Yards to accomodate riders heading to the New York Auto Show that weekend.

Anyone feel free to correct the overall list.

#3350 broke down at Whitestone Expwy. A lot of these MCI's look like they're on their last legs. Some are running around with huge dents and gashes on the side lol.

The Bronx units still look pretty good and run well. Sometimes the cosmetic shape doesn’t tell the whole story. I know a lot of buses that looked bad were ones than ran better.

I said it once and I’ll say it again, I HATE new buses.

Alright, just keep it in the random thoughts thread instead of cluttering other threads here. It’s getting a bit annoying seeing you spam the threads with misc comments that don’t have much to do with the topic at hand.

This decision is not good to me. I've been going to Queens via QBL before and during the shutdown, and the (F)via 53rd Street did help with the delays near Queens Plaza, where trains interfere with one another.

It is best for the (M)to run via 63rd Street, and continue running on the local tracks to Forest Hills, and allow for the (F)to be via 53rd Street. This service pattern is popular with riders, and it is sadly being thrown out of the window in favor of how it was prior to the shutdown.

Riders are going to complain about the lack of weekend service on the 63rd St Line and I doubt the (MTA) wants to put money to have the (M) be extended and run full-length trains again on weekends.
