  1. The Kawasaki R62s have at least 10 yrs , the Oldest R62As have 12 still ... remember a subway cars life span is 40 , and the first R62s came in in 1983 , and the first R62As in late 1985
  2. there are currently 5 sets of R62As on the and here are the car numbers 1741-1750 1721-1725 ,1731-1735 1791-1795 , 2191-1795 1831-1835 , 1716-1720 1776-1780 , 2016-2020 and that half width width cab is currently being converted to full width
  3. That's only because before they get the R62As back from Flushing for the , Westchester Yard wants both sides to be full width cabs , that is the reason why now you see full width cabs of both sides of Flushings R62As
  4. Seems like it came from the , i rode 4801 on the about a month or 2 ago.. will it run on the ? to cover for a R160
  5. Most likely next year Wectchster Yard will add them , they still have to make changes on the old strip maps that were gonna be on the R62As back in 2001 such as transfers and things like that , because remember strip maps did't get introduced till 2001 on the R62As, and by that time the R62As on the were getting sent to the , so it was the and to get them , and there was no point on putting the strip maps on the R62As on the .
  6. R62As 1776-1780 and 2016-2020 are on their way back to Westchster Yard , before they go back in service on the that half width cab wil be converted to full width
  7. Even if 1776-1780 and 2016-2020 are next to come back to the , Westchester Yard will convert that half cab to full width cab before putting it into service.
  8. Westchester will keep their 7 sets of R142As because that's what they will have left at end of the swaps as well as the 380 R62As that they are getting back from flushing. What ever lines the decide to send the remaing 3-5 sets of R62As its up them . As of right now we have to go according to plan wich has been 380 R62As out of 409 from flushing going back to the , due to the fact that 380 of their R142A's being converted with cbtc for the , and that has not changed.
  9. There will be 6-7 sets of R142As remaining as far as im concerned most of the R62As from Flushing, 380 cars are going and are staying on the and won't go anywhere else , but there will be 3-5 sets of R62As remaining wich might be split with the other irt lines so you might see some assigned to the .
  10. The swaps are supposed to end late 2014-mid 2015 , but the flushing line wont be running cbtc itself until 2016.
  11. Im not sure , but from what i know . after testing it was supposed to stay in service, likely there are certain times that Corona Yard run it. But i caught it leaving Grand Central 2 or 3 days ago at pm rush hour.
  12. Since the set passed that is staying in Revenue Service Permanently as Planned and will run everyday almost 24hrs as any normal train , starting January each week a R188 will enter service on the , and at the same time an R62A will be taken out and will return back to the .
  13. It ends this sunday and yep if it passes then in January each week a new set will enter service on the . I just want to know if Westchester Yard will go back to Yellow Yard stickers or if Purple will represent the R62As on the now, Considering that all strip maps are off of all 5 sets of R62As on the and ,when a set gets swapped back it will get its strip maps taken out before re entering service on the .
  14. Yep , if this R188 passes its 30 day testing , starting January each week , a R188 will go in service on the , and a R62A will be taken off the and will get sent back to the . Before we know it Most R62As will be off Flushing , so get your R62A shots while you can. Seems like when another R142A leaves for conversions then R62As 1706-1710 can get stored at westchester yard .
  15. The test R188s run at anytime right now , they go back to Corona Yard 8-8:30
  16. I got friend that had been working on both lines as a conducter , has has informed me on both lines there are crew members that are not happy with the swaps . So crew on the that are not happy will try and leave to be on the . , and and be with the NTTs and the crew members on the that arent thrilled about the R188s will try and leave to the , and so that they can work with the R62/As.
  17. Once again there are workers that are happy that R62As are back on the , because the trip is a little shorter and motorman like their breaking system more. Keep in mind the workers that are not happy about the R62As back on the , when next pick comes try will jump to the , , and to be with the NTTs , same as for the workers on the that aren't happy about the R188s going on the line will try and jump to the , and to be with the R62/As .
  18. In General if you check the mdbf , the R62/As are still performing well and actually better then the NTTS , we just have to check in about 3-4 yrs how they will have been doing on the , to actually be able to compare the R62A and R142As performance on the .
  19. Wasn't the original plan to have the and be half R62 and half R142 but thanks to bloomberg he wanted the to be all NTTs so the got all the R62s from the . As for the like you said , people will be confused no matter what ,wether its R62As or R142As because sometimes the announcements or Leds on the R142As stop working . Also there are workers that are happy that R62As are back on the , because the trip is a little shorter . Keep in mind the workers that are not happy about the R62As back on the , when next pick comes try will jump to the , , and to be with the NTTs , same as for the workers on the that aren't happy about the R188s going on the line will try and jump to the , and to be with the R62/As .
  20. If you really want to catch any of the 4 R62As on the be at 125st at 3:10 PM going to Brooklyn Bridge City Hall , Normally there are 2 sets out at that time , then at around 3:35 the other sets get taken out of the yard and make their runs. If you wan't to get them on the am then you can catch then anytime from 7:30am -1pm , they then go into the yard till around 2:45 .
  21. There's now a 5th set of R62As on the I couldnt get a lookat the car numbers since , it was at westchester yard this afternoon couple to a work train deisel and the rollsigns had just finished changing to , Should be out tomorrow or Friday
  22. All Passengers have to do is pay attention to when ever it says a is entering the station wether it will go to Parkchester or Pelham Bay pk , but conducters should pay more attention to how they have the Leds set up.
  23. Nope you are very wrong on that , to correct you its about another 10-15yrs a subway car is supposed to be in service till its at least 40yrs old the R62 came in 1983-1985 and R62As in 1985-1987. So R62s are supposed to be retired 2023-2026 and R62As 2025-2027 and that is if their replacements are even on time if not then you may see them here longer than that. The oldest R62 has just hit 30yrs old and the oldest R62A 28 yrs old. Lets worry about their replacements when the announces it in the next few yrs to come.
  24. I agree everything is fine as it is now , there's no need to come up with crazy idea's just because someone wants to see R188s on the mainline... , the mainline will have enough R62As and R142/As for regular service.
