  1. Now you got them started with night diff lol! Well since someone is going to ask here is the breakdown for T/O. Dollar Amt Night Diff Yard Rate --------: $30.0375 $1.4090 Top Yard Rate --: $30.6225 $1.4365 Rev Rate ---------: $31.2325 $1.4648 Top Rev Rate----: $31.8725 $1.4949 There you go. All the numbers with night diff included.
  2. The funny part is this. If the last of them went into the 3 month yard posting that means they will come out of school car about the same time as a recently inducted class of T/Os. Hence there will be a flood of new T/Os hitting the rails at that time. Too many for all of the TSS' to keep up with. An increase of new road T/O incident numbers by double. Ticked off line Supts and school car Supts and maybe an increase in the number of those hitting the streets just from a lack of patience..... As Jim Ross used to say "Things are about to pick up."
  3. Yes it is but it's to my understanding that the last group to go into the program just went in. We'll know a little more in the coming weeks. School car seems to be remaining hush about it.
  4. Yes A division is at the moment 6 months and B division 9 months. However it might be going back to 4 months and 6 months.
  5. Running out of space at 239? Are you kidding? First of all none of the 188s are kept at 239 yard. They have no reason to go up there unless they use M track as a test track. Second there won't be such a thing as running out of space at E180 because there are plenty of other big yards that can hold the new deliveries. Coney Island yard holds a couple of them now as the Sea Beach line is used for testing.
  6. First of all....I don't know who your friend is but you might want to start questioning them on the info they're giving you because it consistently deserves questioning. Second, the car exchanges are based on the movement of one yard and one yard only....Westchester. When Westchester gives up a train to Kawasaki, it in turn receives trains from Corona, 240th or a combination of the two. Obviously 240th is temporarily loaning out it's equipment. Third, this person may not think they're lying as the info had truth to it at one point. It's just outdated. NYCT originally requested Bombardier to take on this project. They declined because of capacity issues since they are already working on the R179 project. Had they accepted the number one candidate was the cars belonging to 239th Street yard for the 2 line. However I've always felt everyone would've came to their senses and realized the only line with Bombardier cars capable of handling the transition would've been the 4 line and those cars from Mosholu yard.
  7. Some elementary schools are completed at age 12 and others at 13. If you are 22 or 23 years old and they want to know what education you were receiving 10 years ago then put down the elementary school.
  8. Possibly in a year or two from now.
  9. It hasn't stopped. The 21 page booklet doesn't get returned until the final processing/medical/interview. Did they tell you they would not call you unless you made a special trip back to them with the court disposition?
  10. Once again is not a test. It's crew qualifications.
  11. Incorrect. 7231-7235 have been broken up and shipped off to Kawasaki. NYCT is responsible for the necessary truck overhaul work either before or after the conversion process. 207th is an overhaul shop.
  12. On the day of medical/interview/final processing when you are meeting with the person swearing you in, you can ask then. Don't bother asking before that point as it might just cause confusion since anyone you could ask on the 3rd wouldn't really be able to help and may pass off the word to the wrong person.
  13. No it wouldn't. It may depend on how far up the scale you are but other than that....no.
  14. I'm not trying to be rude or anything but what's the point of the standoff? And what does it matter if he sees the reports or not even if he's not supervision? What's the end game here because at the end of the day the only thing that matters is helping everyone who will be joining RTO to understand that this is a dangerous job plain and simple.
  15. Let's face the facts. When a probie split a mountain worth of switches last year in a yard "keying-by" low home signals they came up with this idea to fix it just like they come up with the concept of GTs to fix fast operations in restricted areas. Fact of the matter is mistakes happen but it's time to develop a sense of accountability and integrity when it comes to operating. They tell you not to think about the people on the train and to just move it from point A to point B safely but it could be anybody on that train. Your mother/father/sister/brother/son/daughter/etc. Would you want to put a train on the ground and attempt to unsafely cover it up with them on it?!?!
  16. No....It's not a 30 day test. It's not a new train. It's a converted train. No 30 day test is needed. It has and will continue to be used to train crews. It's no where near being ready for customer service as a lot of finishes has to be added.
  17. Well this is just pure speculation but the next class may not get the call as scheduled. School car is now all hands on deck. A train derailed in the yard with a 3 months posting student at the controls. Disclaimer: I'm not saying anything was wrong with the operator's operation as I am out of the loop on most of the facts Regardless all students are being called back to PS 248 so this is going to put a strain on the already thin availability of school car TSS' and pending on how long this lasts could effect the next round of new classes.
  18. What? No..... B division cars are almost 10 feet wide. Officially 9.77 A division cars are officially 8.60. Shave back platforms only where there are curves? What is the goal of the discussion because there are a lot of missing facts. There are a great number of systems that would have to be moved on any a division specified line. For instance Steinway tube will never be able to accommodate a B division train. The tube is being modified now and still doesn't have much of a bench wall. They would literally have to abandon many systems just to try to squeeze a B division spec train like signals and that's just a start.
  19. You really won't see it unless a set has a reason to go to Coney Island. While the cars still run on the 7 line flexibility is needed for some of the 5 car sets to have a passable end when connected to the single and even if these particular sets are sent to Coney Island only one side will receive a transverse cab while the other side will not.
  20. I don't think you read what I was replying to which is the first problem. The second problem is you accuse me of not reading the PDF (which I did) when you're the one reading it wrong. The stations you mentioned are apart of the Nassau option which they considered in the preliminary impact study. In the Final Impact Study it was decided to go with a newly built line to the Hanover Square. So yes, had they chose the Nassau options those stations would receive extensions yet they decided against the Nassau option meaning those stations will not get the extensions we are currently discussing to end unless something major changes politically. Hence we are talking fantasy when the reality is the Phases were decided upon and it's just a matter of building one phase, getting approval to build the next phase while finishing the current one. In all honesty other than that I have no idea why you are even discussing the Nassau option as if it is one of the phases submitted to the feds for grant money approval.
  21. If you didn't realize. The R46s cannot run on A division track as the tunnel and platforms only allow for a clearance of a train that's 8 feet wide. The R46s run in the B division where clearances are 10 feet wide like the R46 itself. There's always a need for miscellaneous equipment other than work diesels and the Redbirds are extremely difficult to maintain at this point.
  22. In all honesty when you become a road T/O out of school car....you'll laugh at the idea of working a second job especially once the money starts rolling in. Road money not school car 8 hour money.
  23. The afternoon to evening class has been going on for quite some time now as well. No surprise.
