  2. Probably that is an indication for if the train has 4 cars they should stop there. I haven't seen that indication before.
  3. Forest Hills 71 Av R30 8496 8/9/1967 There is a sign saying take the E to the ----- maybe the D for Upper Manhattan
  4. Do they mean 21 St starting local at 36 St? Couldn't they start running local after Roosevelt?
  5. I know this is fantasy but would you like the idea of a big undergroun transit museum with 8 tracks with island platforms in between (4 IRT, 4 IND/BMT) with the ability for 720 feet trains. There would be a platform at the side to connect all the platforms. This would allow the MTA to save more trains for the museums and keep the cars out of yards, which currently is leaving enough space for other cars that could be occupying the space. Also, there isn't nearly enough room in the transit museum. This would be my fantasy. Does anyone like the idea. I know it would probably never happen (at least not in our lifetimes), it would cost too much, it's not a priority, there isn't enough space.
  6. I never said they are currently planning to. I was trying to say it was proposed then.
  7. I h\ave rode the SIR the whole route and once every year to Annadale for Blue Heron Park.
  8. Would the R179s be able to be in sets with R143s and R160s. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
  9. Nice,by the way what is your source. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
  10. This can use some under used express tracks. This could save time for passengers because fir example a 2 trai. Can start at wakefield go via the express track to E 180 St where passengers can transfer to the 5 or 2 trains to manhattan. Overall this should save time for passengers. I realize it would not work on the Queens Blvd Line, but it should certainly work on lines with barely used express tracks. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
  11. To get more frequent service in some areas that aren't at capacity I said before manhattan because most of the lines in manhattan din't have the capacity for more trains. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
  12. I agree with bobtehpanda it would make no sense to install CBTC several years in the future if they are still building it right now. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
  13. Do you think the MTA should have "scoot service" like they have in the LIRR except not serving Manhattan. For example you could have more trains running from Euclid to one of the Rockaway terminals or you could have trains from Wakefield to E 180 St or possibly some trains from Pacific St via West End express to bay pkwy. There are many possibilities; not everyone goes to manhattan but they just want to go to a nearby stop to get some lunch or the barbers or something; for example in weekends I take the or to Forest Hills from Kew Gardens. It could be possible where lines are not at capacity for instance you can't really do it in the IRT Lexington Av Line but you can do this on the Livonia Line or the West End or the Sea Beach. I think this could be a good and interesting possibility. I want other people's responses. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
  14. Actually the MTA was planning to lengthen the train to 10 cars. In the state of the MTA address by Elliot G. Sander it says "In Brooklyn , congestion pricing will create three new bus routes and increase the frequency of service on four routes. trains will run more frequently, and the train will be extended to a 10-car train from an 8-car train. 15. I only haven't been on the Rockaway Shuttle. But I have been on the when I was a lot younger, the Emergency 2013 sort of because I ran onto the brown at Chambers then ran back out.
  16. Today I took a lot of pictures and videos. On an R68 there was an old black on white writing for giving up your seat with a MTA logo from the '80s: a sign on the door and the number. At Columbus Circle there was something that looked like a countdown wrapped in something on the 8 Ave Platform. I saw the unitized R62 car 1438 after an accident on the . I took the and took a video of 137 St Yard. I continued on the train to 207 St where I saw a pair of R40 Slants, The Train of Many Colors!!!!, a redbird and some flatbed cars in 207 St Yard. Then I took the to 215 St and saw R12 5782 and R22 7486 R14 5871 and anoher old car, two sets of R110Bs, R32s, R46s a Redbird coupled to a yellow work train. Then I took the to 242 St and took videos of 240 St Yard and the side platforms. This train had two rollsign errors. One of the rollsigns was set as Between Woodlawn and Utica Av. The other was regular except there was a bullet. Then I saw an R62 Train. The rollsigns at the ends of the cars on the inside part of the train were set on , in between the and or in between and . The font on the R62 for 242 St was smaller and different. Then I took the downtown took another video of 240 St Yard, 137 St Yard. Went to 96 St, took the to E 180 St, took pictures of the route selector box the abandoned platform the yards and took the train to Nereid Av where it terminated due to work. Then I took another picture of a route selector box and took a video of the stub to THe old bronx spur. took the train to 96 st, took an uptown 1 to 103 picked someone up. Took the 1 to 96 st, then took the 3 to 42 St where I was in for a suprise. I saw a SOuth Brooklyn Railway Work Train attatched to a work train. It was a great day.
  17. I don't like this at all. The is needed as a Queens Blvd EXPRESS!!! for access to 6 Av. Queens Blvd doesn't need another 8 Av Service. Queens Blvd also needs a service to the Broadway Line. The service where you have the and run express for part of QB. and the and for the other part would confuse riders and take away a faster commute with trains running express the whole way or local the whole way. A lot of trains switching between local and express after Roosevelt would slow down service a lot and has the possibilities for many delays in service or worse. Also 53 St needs 6 Av Service, that's why they made the train to replace the after it got moved to the new 63 St tunnel. Having routes from different trunk lines makes it easier for comuters to get to certain places. It gives riders options about how to get there. To get to 23 St from Lex/53 St you would have to take the or the to W 4 St and then transfer to the uptown 6th Avenue Local. I like that you are thinking of new possibilities to improve service, but you have to think about what a rider would do and how it would inconvinience them.
  18. I miss R32s on Queens Blvd so much I was so used to seeing them for years.
  19. It's a really nice map; I never knew that 148 St on the is called 149 St-7 Av on interlocking boards. Thanks Harry
  20. Forest Hills - Queens Plaza Queens Blvd Local Jamaica/179 St - Euclid Av (So York St isn't closed) via 63 St, via Queens Blvd Exp Suspended use shuttle buses Jamaica Center - Metropolitan Av Queens Blvd Exp VIA 63 St Runs in two sections: Astoria/Ditmars - Queens Plaza 57 St-Coney Island Broadway Local 57 St - Coney Island Broadway Exp 36 St - 95 St
  21. If this is true this would be really nice. Do you know when this change would start happening?
  22. I totally agree. It's a great excuse for rehabillitating the closed platforms and abandoned tracks of the Nassau St Line.
  23. Service Change Posted: 07/08/2013 6:28PM Due to a broken rail at Fulton St, the following service changes are in effect: Southbound trains are running on the line from W4 St to Jay St-MetroTech. Both directions trains making local stops in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Some southbound trains are terminating at World Trade Center. There is no train service in both directions between Euclid Av and 168 St. Some southbound trains are running express from 42 St to Canal St. Allow additional travel time.
