T/O exam 7604. Got called in for pre employment/drug test on 11/1/22. It’s almost Xmas. Is it supposed to take this long to get called back? I’m definitely patient seeing how I took this exam close to 6 years ago. Just curious. FYI I don’t take or do any drugs so my test is definitely good.

    What is your list number?

Yes my first bid won lol.. conductor in the B division, finish probation in April also I saw it’s temporary vacancy.. just so I’m on the right page E/305, F/305, G/305, and R/305 Daily?

XL is just like XX, except you're fifth in line in Queens to pick up open jobs that can be E, F, G, or R on the PM.

Thanks! More specifically I meant to ask what XL B5 305 PM means? Is 305 the run number for the lines in District 5?

To put it simply, you would be the fifth person to be assigned an open job in Queens on the PM tour.

Is C div only evening and night tours?

There are jobs in the AM tour and the combined PM/MID tour. On the AM tour, you usually work in the yard putting trains together or at a worksite outside on the elevated lines. On the PM tour, it will not be a surprise if you work 12+ hours every night preparing your train, operate to the work site, and move the train as the contractors require.

But again, as mentioned before, you have to have 2 years in title.  The last time they tried to draft people with less than 2 years, the union stepped in and stopped it. Though by the time you have 2 years in title, there's a good chance work trains will pick you.

Congratulations on those starting December 26th! I have a request for those that will start the upcoming class. I had pre-employment on 9/13 list #54xx. I haven’t been called for medical and it’s been 3 months. Is there a chance I won’t get called for medical at all? Can you guys please ask those that interacted with an employee? Thank you!!!

With your list number I'd say you should make it to a class. It all comes down to waiting. Most people usually have to take a second drug test before they're called in for medical. Some people in the past have had to do a third or fourth drug test.

That’s crazy because my list # is 55xx and I did my 1st drug test on 9/19 and am still waiting also to hear back for my medical ! How is it that they be skipping like that ? Why did I take it before you ? If your list # is 527x ??  Still waiting !!

It looks like more than anything that they are up to 52XX with medical.

With your list number chances are you will still be waiting awhile. The particular day you take the drug test means nothing since they usually drug test a huge pool of people as their standard practice. You may find yourself taking a second or third drug test before you're called in for medical.

A spread them out. One in January one in May. I think if you pick vacation days you don't have to call it in like AvA. It's fixed days. I wasn't sure how to know which days were available to pick tho.

With vacation in days, you tell them which dates you want. They can tell you if it's available, but chances are if it's not Christmas and what not, you'll get it. You can string up to three days in a row. You can also bank however many days you like, but then it's subject to the same process as using an AVA, OTO, etc.

so odd because someone who recently got in told me in a 3 month span he did pre employment drug test then a month later he did medical and the month after that he started on the job. Does anyone know if  they skip over numbers?

Not odd at all. It's not uncommon for people to take a second drug test. I was drug tested in Fall of 2018 and had to do it again in July of 2019 before being sworn in for the August 2019 class.  If you read through the earlier days, some people have had to take a third or fourth drug test waiting to be called in.

Hey y'all I got a question, for employment history will they really look into every job you had? (why you left or why you got fired) will it effect tour likelihood of getting hired? I got pre employment on the 8th so I'm just preparing myself

They want you to include every job you have had and write in the time periods you were unemployed as well. There's a section on the form where it asks if you were ever disciplined/fired, and if that applies to you, I would just answer yes for so and so job and leave it at that. They just don't want you to lie and omit things.

Edit: Keep in mind, most employers if they have competent HR departments and don't want to get sued, do not disclose why they fired/disciplined their employees. When called they usually confirmed that you had worked there between such and such dates.

I appreciate the advice. So I can bid on the job now? They didn't really explain that too well during school car. I just go to any terminal and put my paperwork in?

Ok, realize you're not picking a job. That's finished for the year. You're going to be trying to win something on the vacancy bid which is now available on TENS. There's a form in the PDF that you can fill out and submit to the proper email address listed in the bid.

  10. 2 hours ago, workisforlames said:

Yeah same here. I'm only 2 weeks out tempted to bid on some am jobs this midnight shift is killing me. But I think I'd much rather keep my XX position.

If you want to stay XX so you can get the hang of the different lines, you can always choose XL AM jobs. Bid on as much AM temporary jobs as you can and if you get knocked back to XX, chances are you'll still keep the tour and RDOs.

I would but I dont wanna go to the bottom of the XX List afterwards

that A 292 looks tempting tho

Didn't you also just got out of schoolcar? You're pretty much at the bottom already. Don't sweat it.

I been out of school car for almost 2 months. I appreciate the help 🙏

If you're in the B division. Be on the lookout for the vacancy bid in the next week or so if you want to try and get out of XX. And learn how to read the jobs. It'll help you when you start picking and/or get a Vacation Relief job too.

We'll see what happens. So far so good this is the first time I ever encountered anything. The radar guns. Now I know to just follow the station speed limit

Your schoolcar TSS should have told you that unless there is a speed limit, that's you to keep it wrapped until you can comfortably bring the train to a controlled station stop.

That said, usually they speed check you at stations where there is a speed limit because of a curve or a switch. 7th Ave on the Delta and Echo is a popular station for them to do that. Remember, as per rule 9.02(g): ,

    Quote

At any time when passing a fixed signal indicating proceed, prepared to stop at the next signal. Train Operators must govern the speed of their trains so that there is no possibility  of their running past the next signal, should that signal indicate STOP. They must reduce speed to conform to Speed Limit Signs and other instructions before reaching curves and continue at the prescribed speed until the entire train has rounded the curve. Train Operators must approach all STOP signals, trains ahead, junctions and terminals with their trains under full control.

So guessing you found that out today ?why are they still canvassing up to 7000# ? If it's pausing? I'm list no 71## thats why anxiety is building lol.. but mta today told me nothing of a pause.. I emailed the nyctemployment.. email..

Pause does not mean completely stop. There's still at least a hundred conductors short.

  14. 6 hours ago, Milano said:

Someone told me yesterday MTA cut dcas from the process and they're doing this all on their own...🤷‍♂️

Transit doesn't have to hire anyone if they don't want to. The hiring freeze back in 2020 is a great example and there's currently a pause now.

That said, the current certified list called for 500 vacancies and you're all just going to have to wait until that amount is satisfied before they pull a new list.

  15. 57 minutes ago, KCA119 said:

If you don’t pay same day, will you have a chance to pay it and then complete the process or will you have to go back to the waiting list?

Remember. To Transit, you're just a number. You can certainly try waiting for your court date to dismiss the tickets, but Transit won't wait on you. There's always someone behind you willing to take the job and last check they're short just around 175 train operators.

    Good luck.

What I'm asking is isn't the drug test part of the pre-employment process? Or is this something that comes up after the physical in the last stage of the pre-employment process. Sorry if I didn't understand the answer.

Yes, it is. It's something that should've came up when you were there. So if you want to continue to the medical portion, you need to pay the tickets.

If you need clarification on your status with Transit, I advise giving them, and not us, a call.

So what will happen on my W/T on the week I am off?  Do I get paid for those Days?  I feel like I lost my RDOs

You don't lose anything. Your vacation week is getting the five days you would have worked off.

how many weeks after 3 years in service?

Four weeks and five weeks after fifteen years of service.

Long time creepy stalking lurker here.  **Creepy sadistic snickering laugh**

    1. If my induction was 2021 = How many weeks do I get off for vacation in 2023?
    2. If I do not tell them which weeks i want =  Will they just give random days for me?
    3. If they give us 5 days stringed up will it match with the RDO's?  In essence = We should be getting 9 days in total vacation correct?  [ RDO RDO + 5 working days off + RDO RDO ]

    Thank you all~

You will have two weeks of vacation and they will pick for you if you do not call in.

I’m actually concerned about the tricky or difficult questions that show up on the exam. How am I suppose to go in and take the test when there’s no practice for those?

Well, part of the exam includes deductive reasoning. You were not given study materials for the exam. However, you may have at some point in your life heard of an exam that high schoolers are required to take that may be useful for this as well.

  20. 12 minutes ago, 2ride said:

Hey everyone, I just registered for the new station agent exam. Can somebody tell me what will be on it and what’s the best way to study for the test? What score do you need to get in order to get hired? Thanks.

Please read the notice of examination as it will answer your question better than we can.

I had to withdraw from the NYPD employment process years back , do i need to add that to prior employment termination sheet ?

My Dad retired as a yard dispatcher  A division years ago . Dose that add any weight to the employment process , just  curious.

    1. If you were never employed by the NYPD, then you were never terminated to begin with.

    2. No. Your list number determines where you stand.
