I have a quick question. I just did my drug test this week. They’re having a class beginning the last week of September. What are the odds that they’ll call me for that class? this is my second time doing the drug test and will need to complete another medical as well because my first one expired. The problem is I may be going out of the country until the end of this month. The person I spoke to said they’re looking to fill slots for that class so it’s a possibility they’ll call me back. Last time, I waited about a month and a half for a call back.

If you can, I would complete the medical again and then tell them you wish to be considered for the following class if you have to go overseas.

No I understand that of course. I thought you were saying that you gotta climb the same division train that you’re gonna work on. I’m in A division and i first climbed a B division train in Coney Island. I get what you’re saying now.

It's pretty much considered that if you can climb on a B division train, you should definitely be able to climb on an A division train.

What do you mean by that? You mean you gotta climb the same train as the division you’re in?

The original person complained that they weren't able to alternatively climb on an A division train, but if there was no class, then that wouldn't be possible. That's why he asked if there was an A division class at the time.

I have an app that i ise to track the nighly use would that be sufficient or should i still reach out to the provider? Thanks again

You need a sleep report from the doctor or CPAP provider. They will not accept data from the app. If anything they should hopefully just be able to email it to you.

Thank you so much for providing me with this information. I appreciate it greatly. I plan to call the number you gave me today and ask for Ms. Olha. As for rescheduling my appointment, I agree that it's best to reschedule a month from now. However, I have a pre-employment screening scheduled for next week on 8/1/23 that I cannot make. I tried to call and reschedule, but I haven't received a call back yet. I'm worried that if I don't show up for the appointment, they will think I'm not interested, which is not the case. Can you please let me know what to do in this situation? Also, I heard that rescheduling can take a long time, and I'm worried about waiting for months before hearing back from them. If they do call me back, will they give me a specific date and time, or can I choose? I really want to work for the MTA and be a hard-working employee. It would mean the world to me. I see so many people who are happily working for successful unions, jobs, and government jobs, and it gives me hope that I can be a part of a great organization like the MTA. BTW my list # is My List number is

You call Ms. Olha to reschedule...

Hey @+Young+, another post that needs the list number edited out. It's at the end.

Ahhh ! My bad I thought everything was done at the same moment. So what’s after the pre employment part and after they take your urine? How long does it take to afterwards for them to reach back to you

Crazy! Cause the email I received just said to fill out the pre employment application and Upon receipt of my drug/alcohol test results, I may be extended a conditional offer of employment and be invited to return to continue the pre-employment process. I’m be upset if they tell me to go home tomorrow morning

You are only handing in your employment history and documentation along with the drug test. It will be a separate day to undergo the medical exam. Depending on your list number, it may be awhile.

I was first drug tested back in October of 2018. Took another drug test in 2019 and was hired for the August 2019 class. Everyone's experience can be different.

Also now, my 2nd dilemma. I have a medical marijuana card and have been smoking for about a month although it is legal in NY state, not Federal. I have been smoking for the past month so if I were to take this pre-employment screening which is scheduled for next week, I would probably end up failing the drug test for marijuana and only marijuana. So that is my concern if you test positive for marijuana does that automatically disqualify you? Do they drug test you the same day you do your pre-employment screening? That is one of the reasons why i would also like to reschedule not only because I work during that day and conflicts with my work schedule but so I can detox and clean my body. Again it's only marijuana that I have done, I do not even drink liquor or beer.

Last question, my license was suspended for about a year, and it is no longer under suspension well I guess it is. because I still have to pay about 3k in tickets to get my license back once I do that I am set. I plan on paying my tickets at the end of this month but would having a suspended license disqualify you, or not even be suspended but Just need to pay off tickets?

I understand that it may seem like I have a lot going on, but I want to assure you that I am a responsible individual. I just want to emphasize that I took the Train conductor exam in 2016 and didn't expect to be called back, especially not 8 years later when I find myself in the midst of other responsibilities. If they had called me back earlier, I would have had my affairs in order and been ready to start the pre-employment screening. However, life happened in between those years, and now I am determined to pursue this opportunity.

It will help to know what your list number is (12XXX?).

Anyway, you can try calling Ms. Olha at 347 643 8217. You will need to pay off the tickets and have a valid driver license. So you might as well reschedule your appointment a month or so away so you can square that out and have the marijuana leave your system. The pre-employment is when they go over your forms and documents and the drug test.

Lastly, this is for the title of train operator. You will actually be moving the train. The conductor operates the side doors.

Do you know how to get in touch with a live person, because I called the automated number and it said i was on the list with and wasn't on an outstanding certification.

You can try this number: Ms. Olha 347 643 8217

Crazy cause i was put on medical hold, got it cleared up had to get back on the list. Which they put me on 5/18/2023-6/23/2023 that list still showing in DCAS haven't heard anything yet my list number is in 4xxx cert number is in 170s. I'm about to give up at this point if it happens it happens.

If I were you, I'd contact DCAS to put yourself back on the list again. It kind of sounds like Transit messed up and forgot to notify you and the other person who  had this issue to come in.

Edit: Though frankly, I'd go in person and ask them what the hell is going on.

    Good morning,

I completed the OPA on 5/19/23. I haven’t heard anything back, and I don’t want to start a job and have to quit, so I have just been waiting for MTA for the next hiring process. Do we know how long it can take. Thank you for your time.

You should take the job while you wait for Transit. Depending on your list number, it might be awhile.

Anyone know how long it normally takes after the drug testing to get called for medical/next step?

It depends on your list number. Some people get called within a couple months. Others can wait much longer. Transit drug tests a wide swath of people.

Last known hired as far as I can tell is in the early 8XXX.

yea i get that part - im more concerned if the list is going to expire and i wont ever "get a turn"

Seems like Transit is going through at least 500+ people for every class of 50 trainees and there's going to be one per month until December, so you might be at the tail end of it.

Hi, could you tell me if im checking the right place? on the civil service list the my number is 88xx with the expiration date for 9/19/2023. I checked the dcas list (atleast i think i did) and my name is there about 9 times, Cert seq # is 4026 but i see the date range was 3/2023-4/2023. Super confused on how to approach this, do i need to call someone about my list number? Should I be reinstating? Any info is greatly appreciated!

No, you have to wait for your turn. Seems last hired was around #64XX. You'll know when Transit notifies you. So make sure your information is up to date.

As per the new contract, if it gets ratified, u no longer fall to the bottom of xx. U now fall to the the XL list. Difference being they won't be able to change your tour and RDO for the rest of the pick and u will be assigned to a district and kept within it. That's what's on paper at least but let's see if the crew office actually honors it. Sounds like u will keep the tour, rdo and district of the job u bid on and won.

I'm going to wait to see if this is actually true and be honored for the vacancy bid. The line in the contract allows people to pick redlined jobs and if the person resumes, then they fall to XL or able to pick an open job at management's discretion. Nothing in it refers to the vacancy bid. In fact, if anything, this would very well make future vacancy bids sparse of jobs to try to win.

Thanks. What do I tell them? I was restored to the list hand haven’t been called? I’ve called DCAS and HR and have been told I have to wait for a new certification

Ok, you're giving mixed information here. You said your name is back for the May 18th certification right? So you should still be good to go barring the possibility that maybe you got the 1 in 3 letter in the mail.

  16. 3 minutes ago, Blu24 said:

I went for medical in May 12. I know she told me to submit before 90 days.

Alright, you should get a letter in the mail from DCAS in a week or two. The list hasn't been certified again so I'd be very surprised if they don't call you in for the upcoming classes.

Greetings all. I returned to the list after being terminated last February. During the last certification (which ended on 6/23) I had a number in the low twenties and was not called.  I know there are brothers and sisters on this board with intimate knowledge of the hiring system. Will I be called again before the list expires? Thanks for any help.

I wouldn't wait for a call. I would go back in person now.
