  1. Let me give a go on this...

    Route Number/Name
    Bx33A
    Purpose
Access between Port Morris and Astoria
    Route Owner
    West Farms Depot
    General Route
It starts of with the main route, the :bus_bullet_bx33: , until St. Anns Avenue, where it makes a left until East 134th Street, where it goes straight onto the ramp for the RFK-Triborough Bridge. It will continue through the bridge until exit 45. After doing that, the route will make a right onto 31st Street where it will continue until Ditmars Boulevard to make a left and terminate. The return route will make a left on 29th Street, and make another left onto 23rd Avenue, and then make a right back onto 31st Street. It will go straight down that street, until it reaches I-278 where it will make a right, and head straight onto the ramp that leads to the RFK-Triborough. It will go straight on the bridge (as previously mentioned), but will go straight for exit 48 which leads onto Bruckner Boulevard. It would continue straight on that street until East 138th Street where it remeets the :bus_bullet_bx33: , following the main route, and terminate to where it ends (East 132nd Street and Walnut Avenue).
    Stops

    For Queens
It follows all the stops the Bx33 makes before St. Anns Avenue. Once turning onto that street, stops are:
East 138th Street and St. Anns Avenue
East 135th Street and St. Anns Avenue (transfer to  :bus_bullet_bx15:)

After making a left onto East 134th Street
East 134th Street and St. Anns Avenue

Heads straight onto RFK-Triborough Bridge until exit 45, and after making left on 31st Street
Astoria Boulevard and 31st Street (Free transfer to the  (N) and  (Q).)

    Straight on 31st Street
    31st Street and 21 Road

    Left onto Ditmars Boulevard
Ditmars Boulevard and 31st Street (Free transfer to the  (N) and  (Q).)

    ***TERMINATES***

    29th Street and Ditmars Boulevard

    29th Street and 23rd Avenue

    Hours

Weekdays for 5 to 10 minutes. Weekends 10 to 15 minutes. It does not run on during late nights.

What do you think about this?

  2. My first proposal.

    Name

Ridgewood Bus Terminal & Transit Center

    Location

Between Gates Avenue and Palmetto Street (Buses enter at Gates Avenue.)

Bus Routes Involved That Will Be Using The Terminal

:bus_bullet_b13: (Stops there rush hours only. When leaving, it will turn left on Palmetto Street, and continue until Seneca Avenue, where it will turn, and then, go back right into Gates Avenue continuing its normal route. It will not terminate there as its existence of being a rush hour stop.)

    Q55

    Q58

    Subway/Commuter Rail Connections

    (L)(M) (Free MetroCard transfer.)

    Design

This terminal would use this design, similar to those being used in Hong Kong (shown here). There will be bus only dedicated lanes around the terminal to control traffic and parking.

TsimShaTsui-StarFerry-7000.jpgHow It Would Benefit The Community

In general, more housing would be affordable, and getting around the area should be easier.

    What do you think?

  3. I'm not exactly sure what that diagram is supposed to illustrate

(I don't know what I'm supposed to be looking at; the numbers make things even more confusing)....

Regardless, the blatantly obvious problem with your proposed terminal is the sheer amount of bus routes involved - It would account for far too many buses for too limited amount of space.... It'd be a logistical nightmare waiting to happen....That immediate/specific area can barely handle the Q13/16/28 as it is... You can't have every route that terminates in downtown Flushing (sans the Q58) terminate in that area binding 37th av, 39th av, 138th st, & union st - Even if you tore down that municipal parking lot!

Not to mention, the QM3 has no business venturing anywhere into downtown Flushing - So at minimum, you may as well omit that from your plans here.....

Hmm... You are right. I may do a revised version later.

  4. My first proposal in this thread.

    Name

Flushing Bus Terminal and Transit Center

    Location

Between 37th Avenue and 39th Avenue (Entrance for buses are at 138th Street)

Bus Routes Involved That Will Be Using the Terminal

    Q13

    Q15/A

    Q16

    Q17

    Q19

    Q27

    Q28

    Q50

    Q66

    Both N20 and N21

QM3 (rush hour stop, and does not terminate)

    Subway/Commuter Rail Connections

    (7) LIRR (This connection would be made possible with an underground walkway, with stairs at each of the bus stands. There will also be portals to the bus terminal and LIRR station at other locations, such as at Macy's and Roosevelt Avenue)

    Design

The terminal would look like this.4741637026_b2cb1861df_b.jpgBenefits for the Community

This would attract more tourists to Flushing than usual. It would also pour in thousands of dollars as well in terms of money and economics. Housing would be more affordable. More businesses would pop up. If it is a success, then Flushing would become the next tourist attraction in New York City.

What do you think about this plan?

  5. Here we go:

    (1) and (2) operate from their northern terminals in The Bronx (242nd and 241st respectively) to 96th Street in Manhattan

Shuttle operates from South Ferry to Chambers Street

    (2) and (3) from Brooklyn operate from their southern terminals (Flatbush and New Lots respectively) to Chambers Street.

    (4) runs in two sections:

    Woodlawn-86th Street

    Brooklyn Bridge-Utica Avenue

    (5) runs Dyre Avenue-180th Street (Shuttle) ONLY!!

    (6) runs Pelham Bay Park-86th Street ONLY!!

    (7) runs Hunterspoint Avenue-Main Street ONLY!!

    (A) runs as follows:

    207th Street-125th Street

Lefferts Boulevard trains run to West 4th Street (6th Avenue Level) via Rutgers (transfer to (F) at Hoyt-Schermerhorn)

Far Rockaway trains run to Canal Street via Cranberry with LIMITED service to West 4th (8th Avenue Level)

    (B) is suspended

    (C) runs between Euclid Avenue and Canal Street via Cranberry with LIMITED service to West 4th (8th Avenue Level) ONLY!!

    (D) runs in two sections:

    207th Street-125th Street

    West 4th Street-Coney Island

    (E) runs between 23rd-Ely (Court Square) and Jamaica Center ONLY!!

Single-track shuttles run on both 8th Avenue local tracks between West 4th and Chambers Street (E) platform.

    (F) runs via the Crosstown Line and replaces the (G) (which is suspended) between Queens Plaza and Bergen Street.

    (L) runs in Brooklyn ONLY (Bedford Avenue-Rockaway Parkway)!!

    (M) runs Metropolitan Avenue-Chambers Street ONLY!!

    (N) runs in two sections:

    Queens Plaza-Ditmars Boulevard

    Canal Street (tunnel level)-Coney Island.

    (Q) runs from Canal Street (tunnel level)-Coney Island ONLY!!

    (R) runs via the Nassau Street Line between Court Street in Brooklyn and Essex Street in Manhattan, where it terminates.

During this period, R160 cars are temporarily given to the (R), which operates as five-car, 300' trains while the other Broadway line trains use the R46 cars.

Time for a simple and basic scenario that doesn't involve suspension system-wide.

Due to an supermarket fire at Simpson Street (plus debris from the fire ending up on the uptown station platform and tracks),  (2) and  (5) train are running with delays.

Reroute or suspension away (you get a vote up for adding the effect on bus service too as of extra credit just to make it a bit fun).

  6. Doesn't connect to a yard which is one major problem in my opinion, meaning T/O's will have to go from CI via West End. Most lines have an easy connection to their yard. Look at all the lines and where their yards are and you'll understand.

If this would be possible I would terminate it at Chambers via tunnel and have it turn back there, because people can get on in both directions, and then you don't have to make a switch or track where there isn't one. In addition there would be less tracks to share with other trains and less merges.

In Brooklyn I would run it via West End, instead of via the R the entire way. That way it has a direct yard connection, and more access to 4th Av local stops than Sea Beach would, although Sea Beach is also a good contestant due to higher Sea Beach ridership.

The better option would be extra (R) service that short turned at 57th St. It would provide downtown and midtown service, and a possible future SAS uptown service. With that you still run the no-yard problem, but it shouldn't be a big deal as the line is still mostly part of the (R). If this were to happen however, I would send some (N) trains via Broadway express to alleviate crowding. This seems best as a rush only service. However the downfall is the lack of connection to the Nassau St line.

All in all, this brown R idea has some potential, such as more 4th Av local service. However, I find a line like this would have very low demand of ridership because it only connects to Lower Manhattan. The better idea, mentioned above would be the short turned (R) 's to 57th, however it also has it's downsides.

Okay. Quill, I really like it how you described the idea.

In addition to that, I have another proposal for the (W) in Queens which should be a good idea.

This one is another proposal for the defunct line, but for its service in Queens. During rush hours, the  (W) acts as an express between Astoria-Ditmars and Queensboro Plaza. The  (N) and  (Q) will remain local. The express service runs like just the  <6> and  <7>; AM to Manhattan, PM from Manhattan. This is so that way the middle track on the BMT Astoria can see some revenue use.

  7. Another proposal of mine. This one a line revival.

    Line

    ( R ) BMT 4th Avenue-Nassau Street Line

Subway Cars It Would Be Using

    R32

    R42

    R143

    Times Available

    Rush hours only. Both direction

    General Service

The line starts at Bay Ridge-95th Street with the main  (R). Once it meets the  (N) at 59th Street (and the (D) at 36th Street), it will run local all throughout most of 4th Avenue.detail-canal.png

It would then cross over the Manhattan Bridge shown here on your right (2 trains each in both directions due to weight limits), and turn into the lost Nassau Street connector to the bridge (thus reactivating those tracks), before eventually going into the middle platforms at Chambers Street to terminate.

    What do you think?

  8. No offense, but this is getting crazy for no real reason. Nukes and hijackings? I guess I shouldn't have complained about all the localized earthquakes that came up a few months ago. I'm not going to close this thread, at least not yet, but can we please keep it to sensible problems. A lot of the recent situations would likely result in a complete shutdown of the subway, not the crazy reroutes that have been posted.

Guys, he has a point here. Let's keep it sensible. Actually to top that off...

There is a switch problem at DeKalb Avenue. It is affecting the  (B)(Q), and  (R) . Rerouting, line suspension, and use of shuttle buses involved.

  9. Another proposal of mine (based of my own line!)

    Line Name

    <1> Hamilton Express

    Purpose

    Super express

    Service

Rush hours only (AM to South Ferry, PM from South Ferry. It's going to use the middle tracks at the following: 96th Street to 168th Street; Dyckman Street to Van Cortlandt Park-242nd Street) It will also run on the 7th Avenue express track from 96th Street to Chambers Street. 7 trains every 5 minutes during each rush hour everyday.

    Stations

    Van Cortlandt Park-242nd Street

    181st Street

    168th Street-Washington Heights

    96th Street

    72nd Street

    Times Square 42nd Street

    34th Street-Penn Station

    14th Street

    Chambers Street

    South Ferry-Whitehall Street

Subway Cars It Will Be Using

    R62A

    Selected R142s or R142As'

  10. Looks good. Although I think that you should make 168th Street express, move 181st Street to 188th Street, and work on the local and express thing because looking at the bus map, I have a theory that most of those stops will have high ridership due to bus connection. We also have to move the Archer Avenue line to be on Jamaica Avenue since the (J)(Z) will be leaving Jamaica Avenue to go on Archer, then go back to Jamaica. But overall, pretty good.  ;)

Thanks. For that, I give you a vote up. :)

  11. I'm back! :D

(E)(J)(Z)- Extension to Bellrose Terrace. Same two-level tunneling. (E) acts a local.  (J) and  (Z) as an express.

Following stations part of the extension: (Green is localRed is express.)

*turns onto Jamaica Avenue for the whole extension*

    168th Street

    181st Street

    196th Street

    Francis Lewis Boulevard

    Hempstead Avenue

Springfield Boulevard-Amboy Lane (Transfer to LIRR)

    241st Street-Cross Island Parkway (Terminal)

  12. Next: The Second Great Depression hits and the MTA's budget is slashed, and the MTA cannot handle the amount of routes today. Provide "good" service at a low cost for the subway. Don't feel hesitant to cut and slash lines completely.

     Here goes mine...

Services On Suspension Until Further Notice

    (B)(C)(Z)<6> <7>

    Services Unaffected

    (1)(F) (L)(S)

    Changes On Affected Services

(A)-Rockaway Park rush hour is suspended. Also an all-time local in all the boroughs it serves in.

(D)-Runs via the Brighton Line as an express. This includes stopping at DeKalb Avenue.

(E)-Local at all stops on Queens Boulevard.

    (G)-Service cutback to Smith-9th Streets.

(J)-Via West End to Coney Island at all times. Also, skip-stop is on suspension.

(M)-Between Essex Street and Metropolitan Avenue at all times.

(N)-All time local in all boroughs this line serves. This line will also stop at DeKalb Avenue.

(Q)-Between Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center and Coney Island.

    (R)-Between Court Street

    (2)-All time local all boroughs.

(3)-Cutback to 96th Street, 135th Street, or no service at all during late nights

(4)-Local on Lexington Avenue. Eastern Parkway express unaffected.

(5)-Service to both Nereid Avenue and Flatbush Avenue on suspension, therefore, it runs to Bowling Green on weekdays. Weekends, as a shuttle to East 180th Street.

(6)-Late nights between 125th Street and Pelham Bay Park

    (7)-Late nights to Queensboro Plaza.

  13. A What If situation if an actual "Pelham 123" hijacking did took place.

After Hijacking (Generally When The Train Involved has Been Disconnected from the Other Cars, and has Left 28th Street staion)

(4)- Still runs as an normal Lexington Avenue express, but bypasses Grand Central-42nd Street and 14th Street-Union Square (this also includes running via 7th Avenue) as of precaution.

(5)-Some trainns via 7th Avenue as an express.

(6)-Service in the Bronx only (3rd Avenue-138th Street-Pelham Bay Park).  <6> is suspended.

When Hijacked Train Becomes A Runway Train (Overunning the Car's Dead-Man Switch) To South Ferry

(4)-All Service in the Bronx only (Woodlawn-149th Street-Grand Concourse)

(5)-All service via 7th Avenue in Manhattan as an express.

(6)-Limited service in the Bronx to ease switch controls at 3rd Avenue-138th Street station.

After Runaway Has Stopped at South Ferry

<6> is not in service for the rest of the day.

    (4) continues to run in the Bronx only.

    (5) via 7th Avenue until further notice.

Do you like my service change throughout the hijacking? Or do you think there's a different way to handle the situation? :)

  14. My own sensible scenario.

In the PM rush hour runs, there is a blackout in all of the Bronx and Northern Manhattan (Inwood and Washington Heights in general) due to a power connection difficulty at Indian Point.

    Chaos?

    Indefinably!

  15. Stop acting like you're the victim. If you're a f**king moron, your shit gets deleted. If you act like a rational, sane human being, it stays.

Oh... What a lovely response... More like a total insult... -_-

    Sorry. I mean this emotion  <_< .

  16. I generally allow the flights of fancy to fly in this particular thread since the ideas tend to stay in this thread. With that said, you still have to adhere to the rules of the forum, which prohibits posts of inappropriate nature. The post made by The New York Elevated along with all related posts have been deleted. I will allow this thread to remain open, but I recommend keeping the scenarios within reason. Thank you for your compliance in this manner.

Okay. I feel like I'm gonna stop posting scenarios on this thread for rule purposes. It also made me have a thought whether or not to go hiatus. :/

  17. I have never seen anything like this in this thread or anywhere in the nyc subway. Can you please stop with the crazy things, I am surprised I would be saying this here.  Can you please tone down?

Oh, okay... I'll be more sensible (as well as toning it down) now after what you just witnessed... Sorry for any inconvenience.

  18. I have another scenario.

An assassination attempt has been made on Sonic and Mario at City Hall after their heroic actions of saving Obama days earlier at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel from a bomb attack by an ISIS. Right now, all of Lower Manhattan (generally the Financial District, Civic Center, and Chinatown) is under state of emergency, and the hunt is on for the assassin responsible.*

How would subway, bus, and ferry service be affected?

*This will be updated when the assassin has been found.

  19. The hell did I just read?

My example of mixing popular video game characters and the real world together into one.

    Service Change  Posted: 08/23/2014  8:22PM

Due to NYPD activity at 145 St, the following service changes are in effect:

Northbound a.png trains terminate at 125 St.

Southbound a.png trains terminate at 175 St.

There is no a.png train service between 125 St and 175 St in both directions.

As an alternative customers are advice to use the M3 bus service.

Better off terminating the  (A) at 168th Street rather than at 175th Street.

  20. NEXT:

A water main break on the west end of Central Park South between 7th and 8th Avenues has created a big problem for the Broadway, Broadway-7th Avenue and 8th Avenue lines in that area.  Service east of 7th Avenue at CPS is unaffected by this.

    Okay...

(1)(2)(3)- Service in 2 sections: Between Flatbush, East New York, and South Ferry to Times Square. 96th Street to Bronx terminals. Shuttle bus service provided between Times Square and 96th Street via Broadway. All running with limited service.

(A)(D)-Service in two sections.  (A) between Columbus Circle and Queens terminals. 145th Street to 207th Street-Inwood. Northbound has limited service.  (D) between 145th Street to 205th Street-Norwood. 59th Street-Columbus Circle to Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue. Stops at DeKalb Avenue after crossing Manhattan Bridge. Selected number of trains run via the Brighton Line as an express with the  (Q) .

(B)(C) - Service is suspended until further notice. Therefore, as of result, the  (A) will run local in Brooklyn, and the  (D) will have selected service to run on the Brighton Line. In Manhattan, the (A) will also make local stops north of 145th Street.

  21. This looks pretty interesting... I'm going to do mine.

    Changes Regarding Service Around Midtown

Due to Mario, Sonic, Mega Man, and their friends, as well as the NYPD, US Army, Air Force, and National Guard together battling Eggman, Wily, and Browser in Midtown in the area around from 34th Street between 7th and 5th Avenue to Central Park South between Columbus Circle and 5th Avenue, the following service changes are as follows:

    (1)(2)(3)-Service bypassing 34th Street-Penn Station, Times Square-42nd Street, 50th Street, and 59th Street-Columbus Circle as of precaution.

(7)-Runs between Grand Central and Flushing-Main Street.  <7> suspended until further notice.

(S)-Shuttle service across 42nd Street suspended until further notice.

(B)(D)(F)(M)-Rerouted onto the 8th Avenue Line (6th Avenue Line closed by orders of the NYPD and MTA to save equipment and property), with extra service to help support overcrowding.  (B) service is suspended. The  (D) runs express;  (F) and  (M) local.  (M) may run between Essex Street and Metropolitan Avenue.

(N)(Q)(R)-Changes as follows:  (N) and  (Q) run between Lexington Avenue and Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard with limited service. They also run in two sections. In Brooklyn, the  (N) runs locally along 4th Avenue between Court Street and Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue.  (Q) betweeen Atlantic Avenue and Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue.  (R) to Court Street only.

    Please allow addition travel time.

  22. NEXT:

    Situation

Sonic, Mario, Mega Man, and their friends are battling Eggman, Wily, and Browser (they secretly became allies with each other). The three enemies dispatched a ton robots and soldiers into the city. The NYPD is also involved in this battle. This also includes the US Air Force, US Army, and the  National Guard. Bill de Blasio has declared a state of emergency in all of Manhattan, as well as governor Andrew Cuomo. The heat of the battle is in Midtown between 34th Street and Central Park South (which includes Times Square, Herald Square-Macy's-Empire State Building, Bryant Park, Grand Central, and Rockefeller Center).

How would subway and bus service be affected between 34th Street and Central Park South?
