  1. those R42's retired in December 2009 and were scrapped in 2013 (Dumb move)

the SIRT R44's are worse than the R32's, their bodies are shot and they ride like shit, this is another problem the MTA is facing (behind the scenes) i don't know how they can hold up for another 7-10 years

This is why Kawasaki should have gotten the order, even if the order came in, some R32's would have still stayed until the R211's due to increased service, with this being delayed, you can kiss the (W) goodbye until the order is completed, this is going to set everything back 7 years, this is why MTA should have a reserve fleet instead of scrapping everything they see, they should have cherry picked the Best R44's and threw them in storage instead of scrapping all of them, some didn't have bad frames but the first batch of cars had very bad frames and they were shot

It's pretty understandable here. But the problem is (in my opinion) is the passenger complaints or rider adovacy groups. They have been calling for new trains to replace the R32's and 42's.
  2. Nothing anyone can do about it until the R179s get here. Let's hope the R32's and R42's don't start dropping like flies in the coming years.

I hope the same here too. Honestly, we need to be a bit patient through this though process. Making new cars takes a lot of time.
  3. Na, I don't think they are banned from the line anymore back in the day the people on Brighton did complain about them because of vibration issues but that's when they had the Rockwell trucks

So maybe it shouldn't be a big deal then if 46's don't have those trucks.

Oh, and on another note, the passengers and rider adovacy groups are really starting to get fed up of the R32's now.

  4. Honestly for me right now, I hope that the R179's don't end up like the R44's. Already, the passengers and rider adovacy groups are getting pretty fed up with the 32's right now. The MTA has to take this into consideration. Also, it looks like the MTA needs to find other train companies to construct subway cars rather than just Bombarider and Kawasaki.

  5. IMHO here's what I think should happen when the R179s come in at ENY and 207 st yard

    (A) R179, R46, (with an occasional R32)

    (B) R68A, R46

    (C) all R160, a few R32s

    (D) R68 with some R68A

    (E) all R160 (would say R32s but the riders would most likely complain)

    (F) R160 with some R32s

    (G) all R46s

    (J)/(Z) all R160 with some R179 and R143s

    (L) R143, R160

    (M) all R160

    (N) R160s, a few R68As

    (Q)R179,R160,some R68s

    ®R46,R160

    (W)R160, R32s

The (A) will have R179s so IMO they should push those R46s to coney island yard for the (B) and (G) this is my theory don't take it to seriously

R46 on the (B)... Interesting... However, are they even banned from the line or it's okay to operate?
  6. IINM They aren't. Are they even still banned from Montague?

You're wrong they're are banned. It' was posted that those lines are BANNED from using R32s until further notice and I think someone mention it was posted in crew rooms and offices

Damn, the MTA needs to make the Montague Tubes available to the R32's again if they're gonna keep them running on other lines for the next 7 years.

Actually (on that note), why aren't the Montague Tubes available for the R32's right now?

  7. For those who will be chasing the low v's.

    8:30 Leave East 180

    10:00 Arrive GCS track 1

11:00 Leave GCS track 1, head south and loop around at City Hall and head to Pelham Bay, arrive around 12:30.

Buses will run on a continuous loop between Orchard Beach and City Island from 12:45pm to 3:15pm.

4pm: Depart Pelham Bay, head south to City Hall and Loop around to GCT 4/5/6, the last stop. Continue Not in service to E180.

I'll be staff on this trip. I hope to see you all there.

Also, I encourage you all to DONATE to the museum so these cars can continue to be maintained and restored

Was at the event today. Very fun time. Saw tons of other railfans and busfans that were there as well. I hope to see the Lo-V's and vintage buses in action again. :)
  8. Well who ever did it thought they were cool. Those will be the same people complaining that the trains are dirty and or the train line is late. Now that train one day will have to be out of service in order for the yard to remove the graffiti.

Shame it had to happen to an R188. <_<
