  1. Ok. So first, I say the MTA should clean up the sets and someone says it's the yards decision so I say it's the yard and now it's according to a budget. Which is it?
  2. So why don't they just replace the lights in the conversions. I am not understanding why the MTA Corona doesn't want the conversions to look at least a little better. Is 7221-30 the only set they are fixing up? R188 7857 said 7241 looks awful...
  3. I am very sorry to bring this up again but... "These trains are the first E233 series variant to use LED interior lighting." Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E233_series The E233 is a passenger train that is run in Japan, and it's manufactured by Kawasaki. Seeing how this train was manufactured around the same time as the R188s, it's my guess that the R188s DO in fact use LED lighting. I'm only making a guess here.
  4. There's my 7881! LOL I rode it a few weeks ago and it was doing this! LOL, problem child. I love your description.
  5. But this would mean just the right? The and could have them. OFF TOPIC. The (7)s fine, who cares about the rest. I mean this is the R188 thread. Any word on conversions 7261-65?
  6. My guess is 7844-7854. Watch this video: The whitness of the bedbugs was riding a manhattan bound which you can clearly see at 5:58 is 7854 playing the manhattan bound annoucement.
  7. Where would the bedbugs be able to live on 62As? The bedbugs are living in the seat cushions the operators sit on in cabs. I have never heard of an R62A with seat cushions in the cabs.
  8. Yes, exactly. How does the MTA plan to get all cars fumigated when it's spreading faster? Some people don't even know they have them yet.
  9. No, bed bugs on the , and a third train found on the are recent. And I'm saying, the guy should have WARNED people. Why would you just see bed bugs crawling onto passengers legs and biting them and not warn anyone and act like everything was fine?
  10. That makes sense. Ok. Not just on the , the and have them now too. And maybe some other lines by now. It's a shame the person on the train didn't warn anyone about it because he "didn't want to cause a commotion".
  11. I doubt the TA will care about sequential order much longer.
  12. Wow. Would like to see that even more on the conversion sets. About the C cars, the new ones are very easy to pick out, high car numbers and of corse they look newer. If you want to talk about conversion cars, every B car with a 2 at the end is going to be a C car. Now, the only problem is the new sets but that could also be solved easily too. For the 5 car sets, it goes 12, 23, 34, 45, 56, 67, 78, 89. For the 6 car sets, 20, 31, 42, 53, 64, 75, 86, 97. OK, yes. It's still a lot of remembering but there is no reason why the C cars can't be in the middle. And we will most likely see a "no coupler adapter" car leading at a point where Corona no longer cares about the order. If they care about keeping "no coupler adapter" cars in the middle, they might as well keep them in numerical order.
  13. I mean in a 5 car sets case. I'm not talking about the 6 car set because of the converts. But in the case of a converted set, the C car is incredibly easy to find by it's car number.
  14. Yes, you did. So your Turtle. Ok. But you took a video of 7881 being delivered coupled to a diesel, with no coupler adapter, wouldn't 7877 need to be coupled to the diesel?
  15. I know. I only saw the sticker on the front when I saw 7255 leading a test train of converted R142As. And does the position of the C Car in the train matter? I meant when they have a setup in a configuration like Flushing 7848-7844, 7849-7854 Times Square.
  16. The sticker says "No coupler adapter in this car." So the cars with that sticker HAVE to be in the middle?
  17. Just was wondering why they would have them in a different order for testing than in service. I also find it hard to beleive a lighting cover can make the 188s brighter...
  18. But I see what NYtransit is saying. If 7820 goes out of service leaving 7811, what if theres only say 7844 in the yard also waiting for 7854 to get fixed. 6 car and 5 car sets can't work together and it would be pointless to couple 7811's set to 7854's set. Another question, does the C Car always have to be the 2nd car of the train? Or will we see say 7815 leading one day? I'm wondering because a lot of test trains seem to have a lead car that is eventually plaed in the middle for service. EX: FLUSHING 7888-7892, 7898-7893 TIMES SQUARE FLUSHING 7881-7877, 7882-7887 TIMES SQUARE FLUSHING 7260 7903-7256, 7252-7255 TIMES SQUARE In another case, some test trains were flipped the opposite direction than they were when they appeared in service. EX: TEST TRAIN: FLUSHING: 7844-7848, 7849-7854 TIMES SQUARE SERVICE: FLUSHING 7854-7849, 7848-7844 TIMES SQUARE
  19. Oh ok. I noticed screechy brakes on 7881 (only) but that seemed to be fixed because I rode that car twice within a week. The rest of the set had been fine so I assume it was an easy fix.
  20. Also, anyone notice how 7860-7870 never seems to be running?
  21. I'm talking about 7877-7887. And since that set is run often, I doubt they would take it all the way out on the ML to CIY or 207th just to clean it. I assume tonight, they will take it to Corona, clean it a little, and put it back in service. Not even, maybe the TS cleaning crews will clean out the litter and will leave Corona to clean the marks on the floor.
  22. Man, there was a massive delay at Main Street today. Due to the G.O. causing Manhattan Bound Trains to skip 82nd, 90th, 103rd and 111th Streets, trains were held up in both directions. I got off at Main Street at around 2:15. I was on car 7881 (yes, again). When I got back, 7884's set (including 7881) was still there along with 7811-7821 and 7231-7240 + 7901. Everyone was crowding on the first train which leaving which was 7881's set. It was crazy. The worst part was the litter on the floor after the trip. I mean, I know it's New York and there's litter everywhere but it was crazy. Paper and napkins everywhere, spilled water (or maybe coffee or some sort of liquid), and smudges all over the floor. Corona is going to have to send out a lot of cleaning crews to clean 7877-7887 tonight. It was truly disgusting.
