To make the (C) 600' long, this will only occur for weekdays if thats what you want

So? What does that have to do with swapping the terminals? Why does the (C) have to go to Bedford Park in order for it to be 600' long, when it can be 600' and still go to 168th?

I caught an R68A (D) train during the AM rush. I have no idea why it was out but it was nice to ride an R68A on the express tracks for once, and it was a nice little break from the usual R68s (although there was barely a difference since they're basically identical).

Actually nvm, just realized it was the same R68A train that was out yesterday. It must have continued running on the (D) until this morning.

Another interesting G.O. coming early next month (at least one that I don't recall seeing for a long time):

    SIGNAL MAINTENANCE
    (D) No trains between 145 St and 205 St

    (4) Trains and free shuttle buses provide alternate service
    Weekend, 11:30 PM Fri to 5 AM Mon, Dec 1 - 4

    (D) service operates between Stillwell and 145 St.

     Buses operate in two sections:
      1. Between 145 St and 161 St, stopping at 155 St.
      2. Non-stop between Bedford Park Blvd (4) and 205 St.

    Travel Alternatives:

For the Bronx, take the (4) instead.
    • Transfer between (D) trains and buses at 145 St.
    • Transfer between buses and (4) trains at 161 St.

From Midtown, transfer at 42 St-Bryant Pk (5 Av) for the (7) to Grand Central where (4) service is available.

Quick change to this from the MTA: shuttle buses run from Mosholu Parkway instead of Bedford Park-Lehman College

    Service Change

    Posted: 11/26/2017  8:25PM

Some southbound  (D) trains are stopping on the (F) line from West 4 St-Washington Square to Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

Some southbound (D) trains are stopping along the (A) line from 59 St-Columbus Circle to Jay St-Metrotech, then over the (F) line to Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

These service changes are because of a rail condition at Broadway-Lafayette.

As an alternative for service to Grand St, use the nearby Delancey St (F) station.

For Coney Island bound service from Grand St, take a Norwood bound (D) train to W 4 St- Washington Square for Coney Island-bound (D) trains.

Expect delays in (D)(E)(F)(G) train service.

(I don't know how this affects the (G) though)

They updated it, although I'd honestly say this makes less sense (I understand if the (G) was delayed by having more service along the Culver line, but how would the (N) be affected?)

You can't run the (J) to Essex without affecting the (M).

How so? The (J) can terminate on the middle track while the (M) uses the outer tracks.

...Unless the switches leading to the Williamsburg Bridge haven't been put back in after all the work from this summer, then in that case terminate the (J) at Bowery.

What are y’all opinions on two new Brooklyn-Queens routes ?

    B16

Canarsie pier - Woodhaven Blvd and cooper Ave (mall area)

via Rockaway Av/pwky and cooper Ave

    B22

Brooklyn Bridge pier 6 - Jamaica terminal

    via Atlantic Ave

Leave ur opinion down below on what you think .

    Fleet

    depot

    And other concerns

I think the B16 could work, it's certainly an interesting proposal. My only problem is that it's basically the B60 and B42 into one route with an extension to Queens, and I'm not sure if there's such a high demand for people wanting to go from Canarsie to Atlas Mall, especially when Gateway Center is probably a lot closer for people in Brooklyn.

As for the B22, I don't see it working too well, since it's basically just a combination of the B25 (which runs 1-2 blocks away from your proposed routing) and the Q24 (which follows most of the eastern portion of your route). Not to mention that traffic along Atlantic Avenue can be terrible at times. Plus, there's the problem with the actual demand for the route. If a lot of people transfer from the Q24 to the B25 or vice versa, then I'd say that this route could probably work but that's not the case. You also have the (A) and the (J) running parallel to both the B25 and Q24 respectively, and to your proposed route as well, so if people did want the commute from Pier 6 to Jamaica, I'm sure most people would rather just take the train.

    New scenario

Sick Passager at the Times Square  (N)(Q)(R)(W) platform

Track fire at Grand Central  (4)(5) platform

Someone struck by a train at Dekalb (B)(Q) platform.

Investigation because of a car accident on the Manhattan Bridge. (Could affect either side of the bridge)

    (5) train breaks down at the 149 St Junction

And Infrastructure begins falling apart in the Chambers (J) platform

    Reroute trains

How about someone struck on the southbound Dekalb (B)(Q) platform

Get the sick passenger off the train at Times Square so service can resume.

    Then:

    (4) runs between the Bronx and 86th Street, and Wall Street (southbound platform) and New Lots Avenue

    (5) runs between Dyre Avenue and East 180th Street ONLY

    (6) runs between Pelham Bay Park and 86th Street ONLY

A single track shuttle (S) runs between 14th Street and Bowling Green, with northbound trains running local north of Brooklyn Bridge and southbound trains running express on the northbound express track.

    (2) runs between 3rd Avenue - 149th Street and 241st Street, and between 148th Street and Flatbush Avenue

    (B) is suspended

    (D) runs between 205th Street and 2nd Avenue, with shuttle trains running from 36th Street (Express tracks) to Coney Island via West End

    (N) runs local from Astoria to Whitehall Street, with shuttle trains running from Atlantic Avenue to Coney Island via Sea Beach Local

    (Q) runs from 96th Street to Canal Street (express platform), with shuttle trains running from Prospect Park to Coney Island

    (R) runs between Forest Hills and Canal Street (local platforms), with a shuttle train between 59th Street and Bay Ridge

    (W) is suspended

    (J) runs between Essex Street and Queens ONLY

Not trying to offend your comment, I’m somewhat curious as well, but does it really matter? I’d guess around the same time it started on Sunday, but honestly, it really doesn’t make a difference after it’s first go-around last week.

It doesn't matter, I wanted to see if there was a very strong chance of it showing up on the (Z) tomorrow but whatever

    What is this about?

    (F) Additional service operates between 179 St and 2 Av

Weekends, 9 AM to 7 PM, Saturday, Dec 9 and 16
11 AM to 6 PM, Sunday, Dec 10 and 17

Transfer at 2 Av to continue your trip.

Might be to add extra service on 6th Avenue, as Bronx bound (D) trains are running on the (A) that weekend

Not 100% sure on this, but it looks like KB has PM artic trips for the Bx32. 5799 is on it now and there was a D60 run a few days ago.

Figured that D60 on Wednesday wasn't going to be a one time thing. Hopefully KB does have a PM trip on the Bx32, because I would really want to see that for a while (hopefully see a XD60 or an LFSA or an LFS, man this is kinda bringing out the foamer in me :D)

6094 is on the Q44, might be a loaner.

That bus is assigned to Casey Stengel for the time being

That's one of the easiest fixes on the bus.  Just push the window out and as far up as you can go and let it slam

She tried for a bit but it didn't work. I eventually got off the bus and walked down to Atlantic Avenue where I saw 6080 OOS heading down to the Rockaways.

  13. Lmao to whoever did the Q53 SBS codes, the front side correctly says Woodside - 61st St Sta but the side sign says Elmhurst - Woodhaven Blvd Sta 😂😂😂

I was just on 6080, which was taken OOS because the window behind the driver had the emergency handle pulled and she couldn't get it to close. It was sitting at Myrtle Avenue for a while until the driver took it out of service.

  14. I also just noticed that for the next two weekends (18-19 and 25-26) while the uptown (4) is running express from 149th Street to Burnside Avenue, the uptown (D) is also running express from 167th Street to Fordham Road.

Can't imagine people will be too pleased that there'll be no direct uptown service from any of those local stations... Kinda weird that they're doing both at the same time as well.

I would've shut the whole Jerome line down that weekend. 16 minute skeleton service headways and a short turn to boot does no good for such a high ridership segment.

In fact, every weekend there's a 16 minute supplement I'd much rather see the whole thing shut down... and mind you, I live right down the street from the (4) line.

Agreed. However, the (4) will already be borrowing trains for that weekend since it'll be split. Cutting service along Jerome would mean that the (4) would have to borrow a lot more trains, which wouldn't be too ideal.

Ok, we have our first in service date!

Should things go to plan, the R179's will start their 30 day passenger test this upcoming Saturday, the 18th of November, on the (J) line.

    Was this confirmed anywhere?

Forgive me if I sound skeptical, but the way this order has gone, I feel like they'd wait at least a little longer testing until they put it in service. Unless, of course, it's passed the 30-day burn in testing.
