  1. An interesting G.O. on the (4) next weekend:

    and Bedford Pk Blvd.

    • Transfer between (4) trains and buses at Kingsbridge Rd.

Wasn’t (N) and (W) trains going up to 96th/2nd Avenue ? Why all of a sudden take the (R) up there? What’s in place for the 4 lost (R) trains on Queens Boulevard ?!

The (N) and (R) are the only ones scheduled to go up to 96th Street, and it's only ONE (R) train.

What time did you catch this? And does it run in the PM rush apart from the 7:01 trip from Bay Ridge?

There's only the one in the AM rush, it runs from roughly 7 AM (leaving Bay Ridge to go to 96th) to 9 AM (as a (Q) going from 96th to Coney).

Finally, the new pick goes into effect this Sunday.  So this R to 96th train will start Monday.  We need somebody to ride that R to 96/2 and report what happens to it when it gets to 96/2.  From my info, it goes back south as a Q.

What time does is that R supposed to run?

Also, I'm assuming it'll go south as a Q to Coney Island?...

So I rode the B74 a few days ago and I must say, 3 buses for a 2 mile route is overkill.

It's actually 3.1 miles long, including the entire loop from Coney Island to Bayview Avenue and back. I also just learned that one trip usually takes 21 minutes.

I can run 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) for cross country races in under 19 minutes.

That means I can literally run faster than this bus... wut

Update at LGA: Most of you guys already know. LGA now have 19 Artic's from 6046 thur 6084 (even number only) with 4 Artic buses stored at CP. As per MTA our 5100's are going back MJQ and our 9000's we are holding on to for a little while. The rest of our Artic fleet will be delivered in the next 2 week. We have starting running Artic's on the Q53 full time with the 40 footer as filler buses because we still don't have enough Artic's. SBS start Nov 12. Also don't know true this is, but Rumors are going around saying that MTA is thinking about upgrading the Q70 to Artic's due to heavy ridership. Hope so it would be a good look. From your neighborhood LGA Bus Operator. Later.

XD60s on the Q70? That would be pretty dope! But wouldn't getting into the Victor Moore Terminal at 74th be kinda tricky?

Few notes about some artics runs:

The Q6 has some AM trips with one bus. The last trip seems to be from Jamaica around 10:40AM.

The Q7 is seeing some XD60s too. Recently saw the numbers of artics ranging from 1-3.

(Separate note, if you want to see a 6000 on these two routes you better start hunting now.)

1016 is doing AM trips on the Bx19 and is trackable.

Any idea what part of the AM 1016 is usually out? And is it going to be like 677 where it does one or two trips on the Bx19 and driver training for the rest of the day?

Anyone notice the 6 Av. (M) pattern is a horseshoe or C-pattern (from 6/27/10 up to the Broadway Junction reroute).

Yeah, and if you consider the fact that the Q38 travels between Metropolitan Avenue and Woodhaven Blvd / 63rd Drive - Rego Park, you can basically almost go in a complete loop to and from Queens going through Manhattan and Brooklyn for just $2.75!

I’ve always wondered — why do those extra tracks exist by 72nd st on CPW?

They can be used as layup tracks if needed. They also can serve as an extra switching point from the local to the express track and vice versa. I've been on a few uptown (D) trains that have stopped at 59th Street on the local track (since there was a stalled (A) train on the express track), have continued on the local track to 72nd Street, then switched to the middle track and then to the express track just before 81st Street.

    Not officially on the app:

(7)(A)(B)(D)(F)(J)(Z)(N)(Q)(S) Rockaway Park and Franklin Av

    Or in terms of lines:

    Flushing

    8th Av (above 168 St)

Fulton St (Grant Av and Queens)

    Rockaway

    Concourse

    Brighton

    West End

Canal St (Broadway Line, lower level)

    Sea Beach

6th Avenue (57 St, Grand St, 2 Av, Delancey-Essex, East Broadway, York St)

    63rd St

    Queens Blvd (Hillside Av stations)

    2nd Avenue

    Culver (below Church Av)

    Nassau St (Except Delancey-Essex)

    Franklin Av

Jamaica Line (between Kosciuszko Street and 121 St)

The northbound platform of the Kings Hwy (B) (Q) is online, and possibly other stations as well, so I'm guessing Brighton will be going online very soon

What I want to know is what's up with Select Bus riders who wait until the last minute to get a damn ticket? If you're getting on the bus, get the ticket then and there.

Usually they want to see whether or not a local will show up before the Select does. Since some local drivers don't cross-honor SBS tickets, it sorta makes sense.

So, I saw a northbound Bx3 short turn terminate at Kingsbridge Road, then followed the Bx32 route by going into the VA Hospital complex and eventually went back south. It closed up a pretty insane gap in service heading south, but the next bus heading north ended up packed. I hope those folks weren't charged another fare because based on the amount of people that were dumped off the bus, it looked to be a last-minute short turn.

    What time was this around?

Wow, you have a lot of patience, I would have bailed at 161st for the (4) (after checking service status of course)  or maybe 145th and walked to Broadway or Lenox

I probably would have also bailed and taken the (4), but at that time the (4) is awful between 149th and 125th, and a complete nightmare between 42nd and 14th. I think one time in May I decided to take the (6) from Grand Central and ended up passing 4 or so express trains between 42nd and 14th. I just take the (D) to the (N)(Q)(R)(W) instead whenever I leave around 8 just to avoid the (4) ... (granted, it probably wouldn't have been as bad as yesterday.

I also probably could've walked over to the (1) or (2)(3), but since I was heading to Union Square that wouldn't have worked out for me.

I see Spring Creek stocking up on those Orion 07.501 CNGs.

Also, the Q41 going to Far Rockaway. Do buses still sport the Far Rockaway logo? I know both JFK and Far Rockaway have been sharing their fleets.

I've definitely seen some Orion OG hybrids with the Far Rockaway logos, although I think most of them have JFK stickers
