  1. Again... because of the acid baths. If I'm not wrong, that is also why the R44s were in such bad shape, and I think the R38s and R42s as well.

The R44s were in bad shape due to much higher levels of wear and tear, along with heavier level of mileage and vandalism, The R38s were in bad shape because they had really dirty interiors and roofs that the (MTA) had to hold together with duct tape. R42s roofs look like king Kong wiped his a** on them because of the scratchiti
  2. If the carbon steel R40s could last nearly 40 years, suffering in the 70s and 80s from acid baths to remove the graffiti, what makes you think the R188s wouldn't?

Well its more of a prediction than me just putting it out there the R40s were some rusty trains that suffered alot because of structural problems
  3. 7832 has this ugly white graffiti tag on it (it actually looks like a tag that would be on a train from the 80's). They used this thick white marker, and it's very noticeable from a distance. I think you should wipe that up for the (MTA). If you don't see it, then Corona might have beaten you to it. Being honest though, it's probably the biggest and worst graffiti tag I've seen on trains in awhile. Pretty sure it's gonna be cleaned up quite fast, because of how noticeable it is.

Corona needs to take better care of cleaning their trains I've been noticing that on a lot of R188s but it's probably just that carbon steel R188s won't structurally last long.
  4. What a way to end the summer.

Following an earlier incident at Kingsbridge Rd, 4.png service has resumed with residual delays.

    Service Change Posted: 08/31/2015 4:09PM

Due to a train with mechanical problems at Middletown Rd, the following service changes are in effect:

Southbound 6.png trains are running with delays.

Some northbound 6.png trains terminate at Westchester Sq-East Tremont Av.

    Allow additional travel time.

    Service Change Posted: 08/31/2015 4:21PM

Due to a sick customer at Broadway Junction, the following service changes are in effect:

Southbound c.png trains are running express from Hoyt-Schermerhorn to Broadway Junction.

Expect delays on southbound a.png trains.

    Allow additional travel time.

Why not express from Broadway junction to utica ave ?
  5. Actually, you could have it where as needed some (M) or (R) trains after Parsons Boulevard move to the express track and skip 169 if that is an issue (usually that would only be done if there was another local train directly behind the one at Parsons). That would solve most problems there.

I still think the whole idea would be a mess but that would be smart
  6. Maybe not R32's but maybe R143's still can be stored in Fresh Pond because remember they once ran on the Myrtle Line. If my theory is incorrect, no problem, you can go from ENY via the (J) at Bway Junction then via the (M) at Myrtle-Broadway and theres your set on the (M) line.

True that is how you get from Broadway junction to Fresh Pond
  7. I heard the R143 might, not saying they will, go on the (M) in Sept along with an R32 too. If that happens, im assuming more R160's from FRESH POND Yard will go on the (L) and the (J) swapping with Canarsie (R143) and ENY yard (R32), since Fresh Pond is a small yard comparing to East New York Yard.

    So maybe like this:

    (J) R32 ENY Yard set > Swap with Fresh Pond Yard's R160 set(s)

    (L) R143(s) Canarsie > Swap with Fresh Pond's 160(s)

IF it were to happen, this is my theory of how the swaps go.

I don't think the R32s can be even in fresh pond yard because 2 car drill in Fresh Pond Yard isn't feasible until they bring back the handswitchman job I think they will only be based out of ENY
  8. This proposal is meant to relieve switching delays on the QBL.

    (R) Extended to 179 Street via Local

    (F) Runs Express to 179 Street

    (M) Extended to 179 Street via Local, after the RBB opens it would be rerouted to Howard Beach of Rckwy Pk 116 Street

This allows R and M trains to terminate at the better terminal of 179 Street.

It allows the delays caused by the crossovers for the (F) to go on/off the express track at 75th to be gone.

This should relieve delays, and it would relieve some crowding on the E and F.

I think there would be some congestion at 179 st if all 3 trains terminated and you would need about 3-4 sets of extra (M) and (R) trains if this happens IMO some Rush hour (M) and (R) trains should terminate at forest hills 71 ave and they should end (E) rush hour service to 179th
  9. Why would the (A) and (C) need to share equipment? They don't share any terminals or yards like the (2) / (5) or (N) / (Q) where such a move would be feasible.

I would use the extra trains late nights from the (C) to help out the (A) or just in case there is an unplanned service change.
  10. I agreed they should be mostly 5 car sets like I said operational reasons it would be good then can shift the cars around the system if need, the (C) needs to be 10 train

Yeah, I agree they should make the (C) full length so it can share it's equipment with the (A) and the (C) can be less packed during rush hours
  11. not nobody, but not enough riders to justify the M running to Bay Parkway. Maybe an extension of the W once it comes back to Bay Pkwy.

Yeah that would be a good idea but I don't think that Coney island yard would have enough trains for that.
  12. The correct term is discontinued, not abandoned.

I see that all the time. The problem is fumigation.

The RBB line would reroute M trains. This would relieve congestion at Forest Hills.

Na, I meant that nobody was riding it so it was like an abandoned route

  14.

To add on to what Union said, the Rockaway (A) runs similar to the Nereid (5), 5 trains from the rockaways AM rush, 5 train to the rockaways PM rush.

Also to note, those trains don't run the entire route. I believe those trains end/begin at either Dyckman Street, 168 Street, and/or 59 Street.

59 St Columbus circle can be used as a terminal? Or they just take it out of service at 59 st?
