I hope this is temporary. If 40 buses are out on the streets and they only have 47 instead of 48, they will have only 7 buses as spares, giving a 17.2% spare ratio instead of FTA mandate of 20% for a spare ratio, and for such a busy line like the B46 SBS, that's a big difference. What were they trying to do with shifting 7663: making haste on the B82 SBS project before Bensonhurst residents and politicians find out about it? Looks like its either that or Flatbush doesn't need additional buses for the summer season.

For me, I think it matters to tell the car maintainers at 207th Street Yard what yard or line they belong to so they don't send them back out to the wrong line if they ever get sent to 207th Street Yard for maintenance. Here is how I would make the stickers:

    • (1) cars: Red
    • (2) cars: Blue
    • (3) cars: Orange
    • (4) cars: Green
    • (5) cars: Yellow
    • (6) and <6> cars: Purple (all R62A cars with LED Signs)
    • (7) and <7> cars: Purple (all R188 cars with LED Signs)
    • (S) 42nd Street Shuttle: Grey

That's how I would do it, but I'm am not sure if two lines (6) and (7) should have the same color (purple), since I feel line the (6) cars are very appealing with the purple stickers and the R62As that were on the (7) had purple stickers. To further supplement that, there should either be a yard sticker with a logo of the yard they can make, or a similar to the retrofit cars saying Maintained at _______ Yard. What do you all think?

I also think that the cars should have the blue and gold wraps on the sides of the train similar to the R160s on the (E) and (L) lines and the upcoming R211 cars. Also, if they do further retrofits to the R142 and R142A cars, then they should receive the new LED Matrix side signs similar to R188 car 7501 to make the cars more reliable.

Where is the black ones? Those back in the days was assigned to the Uniport Yard.

If I was that, here is what the label stickers should be:

    240th: red

    239th: green

    Livonia/148th: Blue

    Jerome: Orange

    Uniport: Black

    Westchester: Yellow

    Corona: Purple

  3. Reference to logos/stickers: I saw that the 42nd Street Shuttle cars have the LIVONIA YARD logos placed next to the number plates.

My question for the subway followers should every car have the respective yard logo/stickers placed on them similar to the Depot stickers that are on the buses

Seriously. Those 1200’s from MCH need to go. Those buses have seen so much mileage it’s not even funny. Only 1233 made it to Brooklyn and back to MCH.. The rest stayed in Manhattan since the transfer from 126th.  Just only wished that depot (126th) didn’t close at least to deal with the overcrowding in the Manhattan Division.

If not for the burial of slaves that the MTA found out about before opening of OF a few years back

    7484 JA back to NFI

    7649 to FB

EDIT: Due to the acelleration of both Artic options, all RTS are scheduled to be retired by January 2020.

    4918, 5064 FB to Scrap

    5082, 5086, 5088, 5098, 5124 retired out of UP

8933, 8994, and 9027 JK to EC pending Scrap.

6543 and 6545 actually haven't left since they were reported.

And 3782 on the QM4???????? Don't forget ALL the OG hybrids are over the 12 year service life limit. They are actually doing better than expected seeing as they are not optimized for the higher average speeds of Queens.

Is another bus like that coming back or JA is ready to accept their new batch

Something tells me the MTA should be careful and cover their bases with the scrapping of those buses that could work as no-farebox reserves for the L shuttle. People are gonna lose their minds once that shuttle starts, and we might see complaints that there aren't enough buses, etc. Anything of that vein is possible. If those artics are late, it's gonna be a mess, and it seems like a big gamble for the MTA to take, given the fact that new orders are often delayed for one reason or another. Those 1999s--best of them at least--could definitely last through 2019/2020, especially if they went through an overhaul program like the 1996s that are still on hand. The lifts killed the 1997s and the bulkheads killed a lot of the 1996s, but these 1998-1999 buses could be of use for a while. Gonna have to pry them out of Quill ops' hands, anyway. Maybe they should play it safe.

I’m still in awe about this “L Shuttle” that they are horsing around these older buses with. Back last year, I read that they was gonna get the Orions from TTC but where did this order went? They don’t really need “breakdown” buses or older buses that has little to no life left in them, then they scrap them to salvage. If the L Shuttle is gonna last a year, any articulated buses in the 5600s & 5700s (the last ones built) should be saved for that particular route.

on a facebook group someone posted that the ta is gonna sign off on ordering the D45 CRT LE'S and their source say it's true anyone can they back it up?

You sometimes cannot go with that unless if ENY sees it. Remember: the bus HAS to pass inspection, testing & endurance in order for the TA to officially sign into ordering that D45 CRT LEs. Don’t believe it until you know if it’s coming from those who has the knowledge

Are you sure, since the assignments were updated for all buses, including those already on the property? Even the base order XD60s (5987-6125) got updated.

They are only talking about the recent orders. 5987-6125 does not count as recent orders. 6126 will be counted as the recent orders. That's number 1.

With 8504 in. Any of the new assignments (8505-8754) on who will get the new Nova LFS?

  9. So before you make assumptions, Listen for the updates. Many things that you don’t see (the Bx6SBS) doesn’t happen in one single shot. In Philadelphia it’s the same way. You take away some of the route runs and put it under a new route run.

If the NYCTA/MTABC went LED on their local runs (FB0457, meaning B44’s driver run), that bus run would change to FB0497 for the B44SBS

1986 GM-RTS 4508-4553 were delivered to 126 St. (the only TA depot in Manhattan). I remember them on the M-15 & M-15 Limited.

I remember that 4567 (JAM) had Chicago-style windows.

That was the very first time, but as years go by, new bus fleets come in & older buses get either shipped elsewhere or scrapped, depending on how old they are.

9186 was delivered to Fresh Pond
9282-9284 were delivered to Yukon then sent to MJQ a couple of years later while #9250-9281 went elsewhere (9250-9256 to Jamaica, #9257-9281 to Ulmer Park)

Thanks for that. I was close with FP’s order. As for Quill, it was formerly known as Westside: a combination of the old AM & OH buses that at that time had: M10, M11, M16/34, M23, M42, M27/50, M30/72, M79, M86, M96/106, M98 & M102. The M20 came later

its roster had: 4113-4166 (AM & OH)

    4508-4553 (OH)

    8201-8229 (OH/HP)

    8600-8670 (OH/AM)

    4834-4853 (HP)

the artics & the 5000 series Buses came a year later.

Though it seems they were there for about two years, I have not seen many photos of the RTS in express service.

I took photos of them as they was in service from both YU & UP during the 1996-1998 campaign. Matter of fact, the older RTS buses was on the sea of Express routes (including the BMs as well when they was part of Command.). Now you don't see them anymore since they "uniformed" each level of service

...and they were #8925-9074. Hence why several depots got pieces such as Jamaica with #9051, #9053-9056, #9065 and #9070-9073 along with their original order of #8939-8978. Other depots such as Flatbush, Manhattanville, Ulmer Park and 126th St received pieces too.

The bus order was split between 8752-8924 (8752-8806 to MV (first wave), 8807-8854 to WA (this was WA's final order of new buses), 8855-8898 (first wave) to GH, 8899-8924 to ENY) and 9075-9249 (9075-9110 to UP, 9111-9139 to OF, 9140-9185 to FP {9140-9149 had CUMM11} 9186-9228 to OS & 9229-9249 to GH (second wave) Express service saw the last 100 buses with 9250-9281 to YUX, 9282-9284 to OHX, 9285-9344 to UPX and 9345-9349 to JAX. The Express assignments in Staten Island was only a two year temporary until the MCI batch started popping in, then they had their cushion seats removed for hard ones which was then assigned to local service and transferred over to JA. Meanwhile, UP's Express buses stood until the MCIs popped in, then assigned to local service and stood there until they was transferred to LGA in 2006-7. OH's service went over to WS (now MQ), then got replaced by Orion V 100 series, and discontinued in 2010 (You know the rest).

1000-1015 to West Farms for Bx6 Select Bus Service

1016-1053 to Gleason for B35 Articulation

    1054-1109 to West Farms

1075 and 1078 are most then likely going to be moved to WF when their own buses show up.

So by the looks of these assignments, WF is getting the first AND the last one, part of a 70 bus order, while JG gets the first bus that got tested on the NYC roads

  15. Ok. Here we go with this: I saw some of the older buses (mainly the 2010+) White & blue scheme buses with WiFi emblems attached. If most of these buses are to be removed from SBS division, shouldn’t they be rewrapped in Cuomo scheme instead of diverting them back to the old white & blues?

So one of these new transit buffs got into an argument with me on the s79 saying that it served more stops in Brooklyn then it does in Staten Island... -_-

Dudes are not worth your time. Let them figure out how many stops it has in Brooklyn (its a quarter turn in Bk. So it serves more in SI.) if they wanna troll, the easiest way is to take the B37 from 4th Ave & Atlantic to 86th-3rd & take the S79 SBS to ummm let me see... say about New Dorp La. I’ll wait until 8/19/18, when these SIM routes starts popping out of nowhere.

So preliminary depot assignments for Staten Island's express bus realignment:

    Meredith:
    SIM4x
    SIM15
    SIM30
    SIM32
    SIM33
    SIM34
    SIM35
    Trippers on the SIM3

    Yukon:

    SIM1
    SIM5
    SIM6
    SIM10
    Trippers on the SIM5x, SIM6x & SIM7

    Charleston:

    SIM2
    SIM4
    SIM8
    SIM8x
    SIM25
    SIM26
    SIM31
    Trippers on the SIM1, SIM5, SIM7 & SIM10

    Castleton:

    SIM3
    SIM22
    SIM35
    Trippers on the SIM34.

So this means if this becomes official, MA could see 8 routes out of that depot. Then they would need more than 75 buses to operate
