Staten Island Advance (SILive.com) has the complete story in last Saturday's edition.
My deepest sympathies to the family on the death of the driver.
Arthur Kill Road is an extremely dangerous street to drive as it has one lane in each direction, hairpin turns, no passing lanes and to be quite honest is quite scary from Woodrow Road to Tottenville. There are quite a few accidents on that street and just wait for the winter as the street becomes a sheet of ice. Where the garage is the roadway is quite narrow with no place to pass.
Where was that story? The driver was critically injured in that crash. the bus driver, baby, 2 passengers and an old head suffered minors.

IIRC this will be Gleason's test bus
According to people in the comments, it'll be on the with appearances on the and .
Nice catch. Similar to what NICE has now but we will see how it performs on the streets of Crooklyn. Since it's the first time that JG is seeing artics on their roster. My questions is are drivers are qualified to drive artics as opposed to standards?

How about asking ENY if he was ok than asking about putting artics on a bus route.
Hope everything is ok for you, East New York. A person’s life is more important than a bus. A bus can be replace but not humans.
Without you, I wouldn’t even know the updates on bus to bus movements, especially new ones thats been ordered.

I believe 8017 was still under warranty though when it got into that accident.
And everybody thought that this bus was gonna be scrapped and I said what you just mentioned above. When buses get into a wreck it's a different story, but when buses get wrecked by another one that is too powerful, then that company must pay the assess damages that it caused.

According to resources, 7430 will be held on to privately for police evidence, then afterwards it's off to retirement.
"So 7430 to scrap."
Never assume that this bus is heading to scrap. Like 8017, it can be repaired. But it's gonna come out of Dahlia's pockets

XD40 7436 out of CS. Bus got slammed by said Dahlia Bus which ran the red light. 7436 was on the Q20A.FLUSHING, Queens — One person is dead and at least 16 people injured, including seven in critical condition, after a "very serious" collision involving two buses, which sent one into a building that later caught fire in Flushing Monday morning. A city bus and coach bus collided at Main Street and Northern Boulevard, causing one of the buses to crash into a building, according to police. The crash occurred around 6:18 a.m., FDNY said. One person was found dead at the scene, fire officials said at a morning news conference. There are at least "16 reported injuries at this time," FDNY tweeted around 7:15 a.m. At least seven people are in critical condition, FDNY later said. The crash is considered "very serious," and is causing "heavy traffic delays," police tweeted. There is a "heavy presence of emergency personnel" in the area, NYC's Office of Emergency Management tweeted. The following buses are facing delays because of the incident, according to the MTA: Q13, Q16, Q19, Q20A, Q20B, Q25, Q25Ltd, Q28, Q34, Q44-SBS, Q65, Q65Ltd, Q66 and QM3. It was not immediately known which MTA bus was involved. The coach bus was operated by Dahlia. PIX11 has reached out for comment from both.

FLUSHING, Queens (WABC) -- Three people were killed and 15 injured when an MTA bus and a charter bus collided in Queens early Monday.
The Q20 bus collided with the Dahlia charter bus at Main Street and Northern Boulevard in Flushing around 6:15 a.m., and authorities were investigating reports that the charter bus had run a red light.
The NYPD and FDNY responded to the scene and began removing passengers.
All of the victims were quickly taken off the buses, with the exception of one of the drivers, who was pinned in the bus and needed to be extricated. One person was pronounced dead at the scene after being found underneath one of the buses, leading authorities to believe that person may have been a pedestrian.
The victims were rushed to area hospitals, where two of them passed away and five remain listed in critical condition. The driver of the private bus and a passenger on the MTA bus were identified as those who died at the hospital.
The MTA driver, a 10-year veteran, "is in the hospital in non-critical condition, he's being spoken to," authorities said.
The flames were quickly extinguished, but there is extensive damage to the structure.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, but one witness who was in a car that was nearly struck by the charter bus said it was speeding and ran several lights.
"I looked up, and I see this bus fly right by us," Sheila Baez said. "He flew, we was at the red light, he flew right by us. He passed the red light...speeding. He went past the red light, he went passed the other red light, and smacked into the bus. He hit the bus...He ended up on the sidewalk, then smacked into the building. That's what we saw."
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio visited the accident scene, calling it "a really tragic morning here in Queens."
Another Dahlia charter bus was involved in a 2016 bus crash on Interstate 95 in Connecticut that injured 36 people.

I feel like there will be a mix because I doubt all five buses will be out 24/7 on these routes for 3 years.
You mean 21/7. Both routes end at Midnight

I've seen these before. Philadelphia's SEPTA is getting 25 for Southern District this coming winter. And that is including the incoming 525 NF XDE40s that 20 of the 90 that's ordered this year has arrived, with 100 each in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 & 35 in 2022.

They should have operator only control door control for non SBS buses only, not them yellow taped doors. It makes them a target for fare evaders to go thru the back when buses are crowded. A buzzer indicates that there are people entering or exiting buses thru the back, as the doors are automatic set to close. SBS buses, as you said, should be equipped with slide doors

Hope that MTA bus does indeed get the MCI express bus order. If they can snatch some from Queens Village or Charleston or even Spring Creek than it would be excellent. I believe 2247-2250 are in the Bronx.
Not QV, but Castleton. QV's buses is still new, and if MCI wins that contract, I hope it's a DD13 with all green and yellow on the outside

Let's hope they don't make a come back and go bye-bye.
So now we know the real reason of why the Millennium version of the RTS buses never made it to NYC. I would have loved to see one come to give one a ride or something.

How exactly did it fail?
At that time, areas like Vyse Ave where buses make rights was harder to turn for artics Today, that bus stop is in the middle of 174th St between Bryant & Vyse.

Remember: you do have Bx15, Bx19 as articulated buses routes, they wanna convert the Bx36 into an all artic route as well. Back in 1999, KB tried using an artic on the Bx36 and it failed. But, when WF did it in the mid 2000s, it did wonders. So they use one per peak hour operation.

I have an idea of how many buses each depot would get based on what was said in the past + a little bit of speculation. Of course don't take this too serious:
XD40:
Ulmer Park (71)
Flatbush (75)
East New York (57)
Grand Avenue (35)
Fresh Pond (50)
Casey Stengel (55)
Quill (24)
LFS:
Jamaica (52)
Queens Village (26)
Kingsbridge (60)
Gun Hill (50)
Yukon (63)
KB doesn't need 60 LFS buses, it only needs 50, GH needs 60. Plus, it's getting LFSAs from WF when their XN60s pop in starting next month. There will be a surplus of buses heading to both KB & GH. As for JG, they're predicted to get 30 for B35, send a handful of C40LFs to WF to replace the remainder of 07s, while WF's version replaces the D60HFs and sends LFSAs elsewhere.
XD40s: Grand Ave should get 45 along with their version of the XD60s that replaces their older buses. ENY should add 1 more to their roster, since they got the bulk of the 4900s (2 of them came with the mid 9000 series RTS buses). If CS is getting 55 buses, how many NXG buses has to be displaced?

52 buses for the S53/93 (not counting other LFS with bike racks), then 38 for the S79. That sounds like a good idea.
You forgot about Charleston.

Yep. Since summer schedules don't require as much buses on the road, the buses that can't fit in the depot are sent to Stengel. Of course the units can be taken back to Jamaica in case of a sudden shortage.
Aren't they rebuilding Jamaica Depot?
