  1. I mean I don't mind my current job.. I work only 3 straight days full-time, and I have 4 straight days off, steady. OT is usually open. Con to that is I have more time to think about this job lol I'll try to read every now and then but it'll just drive us all crazy. Everyone deserves a second chance of course. There are a lot of guys underground that have felonies. I myself have had a license for 4 years and I have never had to go to court in my life, not even for a ticket, except for jury duty, but the job ain't guaranteed for any of us until we get sworn in..
  2. Welcome to the forum!! Good list number.. let us know how your process goes man. It'll be good to know some information before the rest of us gets a call. The more information, the better.
  3. I hear MaBSTOA has a great pension system. Just be careful with that 7-10 day training. Failing that could become an issue with Track. I would definitely wait it out. Just my opinion brother.. plus we got PDM and T/O, so many opportunities. @dman1455
  4. Well, it looks like it was a good 4 1/2 years for them to reach the same number I got for the last list, so it's going to be another two year wait. That's so dreadful to think about... lol
  5. There wasn't any character, background, or license requirement in our notice of examination, so it's pretty vague. The MTA can throw the mysterious 1-3 rule at anyone.
  6. My status back in 2018 was the same thing and a few months later I was called in for a panel interview.. this was for Track Worker though. If you’re already with NYCT it beats me why you would want to switch over to SIRTOA as their pay is lagging behind and there isn’t a civil service process.. job is more secure with local 100. If you are from the street then why not give it a try... just letting you know there is some nepotism involved.
  7. Definitely does.. you can check here to see how much money Track Workers made with NYCT back in 2018. You can also check here for the new TWU local 100 contract, which now maxes this title out at $36.36, different from the $33.10 that was in 2018.
  8. No problem! @Rj617 Just gotta stay out of trouble and keep healthy ya'll. Also keep this thread alive with all the information you got. This is the best job in Transit, so what can I say... lol
  9. According to Transit, they are saying you also have to contact DCAS. The form I received with my results says that you can complete this and email it to DCAS. Then again, you could also be receiving it in the mail any day now, because my notice of result is dated on the 27th. Hopefully that helps!
  10. Just stop smoking in general and you won’t be so paranoid. You’ll always be drug tested for this job, whether it is legal or not as the MTA is a federal DOT regulated employer.
  11. Congrats! Awesome list number.. keep us updated on your process!!
  12. Seems like a really good job.. I heard the promotional test is pretty hard though according to some C/R's.
  13. You'll be the first to go on outstanding certification. I would say by spring. Lucky you! Also, it's all according to how many vacancies there are. If NYCT for an example needs 600 to fill in, then I know I'll definitely be in that batch. That could be soon or, well, two years. If it's 300, you could very well be placed on outstanding too. If it's small numbers, then it'll take us a little more time, but that's okay. We passed the hard part and that was doing well on the test lol
  14. The process shouldn’t become an issue if you decide to keep your current out of state ID.
  15. I'll try not to drive myself nuts, but the best thing we can do is check NYC Data, as +Young+ provided. Frequenting certifications for 8600 will definitely help us know when they are going to touch our list and how many Track Worker vacancies the NYC Transit Authority needs to fill. This will give us a great idea of what is going on and when they will be contacting you, before they even make contact with us.
  16. I am curious to know too. When I took this exam, I was living in Staten Island at the time. Recently I have moved. The Exams Unit has never gotten back to my email with an update on my address change, nor have I received any mail regarding my list number. Then again, we are working with a bunch of sloths..
  17. There were also a lot of vacancies open for Promotion to PDM, well over 150 last October. We should see movement by this spring, maybe even sooner. Anyone with a list number at or below 3,000 should have a fighting chance at the job. I know I still can’t believe how many people actually applied. I was expecting to be in the 3-4K list number range, so I was stunned.
  18. We’ll be alright I’m sure! The only odd thing I find strange is, the authority requested 1000 vacancies be filled in the summer of 2018, but the last class was only a few months after that request, and that was it. The authority obviously never filled those spots and there was a hiring freeze and still continues to be one, for this title of course. The authority extended 3600 but barely actually hired anyone for Track Worker, if at all during that extension which is interesting if I’m right. My guess is they are either planning on hiring that vacancy amount for 8600, or they just wanted to come up with that farce number just to keep the extension in place so that a freeze will continue throughout the 2019 year. I guess we will see the amount of vacancies once they pull from our list.
  19. Really good information! After all this time +young+, somethings gotta give. If it weren't for that aggressive 10 day training course with NYCT, I am sure you would of had a lot of seniority by now. This may very well be your time to shine if you so choose to go the track route over surface. I hope to one day be on the job with you! Knowing people and getting great insight from others always makes the process go much smoother. For now, all we can really do is hope!
  20. You can check here to see how many Track Workers and Railroad Track Cleaners were on the job in 2018. Unfortunately it looks like 2019 hasn’t been updated yet for these titles. Also thank you +young+ for posting those PDF files! It gives me something to read on my off time!
  21. I wouldn’t even worry about 8704. According to NY Payroll, there were only 5 Railroad Track Cleaners in 2018. That title is pretty much depleted if what I am seeing is true. I highly recommend going through the entire 3600 thread, as it has tons of information in there. This thread is still relatively new, but we should all keep each other up to date through this journey.
