  1. Yeah, saw them at Lorimer, Bedford, and all the Manhattan stations at least
  2. The problem with sending the to Bay Ridge is you wind up having to deadhead trains from CI Yard to Bay Ridge somehow, which would both waste time and disrupt service. Perhaps a permanent terminal of Kings Hwy or 86th-Gravesend on Sea Beach would work, though that could be a messy merge after 59th... Alternatively, you could send it down West End, but Sea Beach needs the extra service more (based on ridership), and since trains are run with crews, I'm sure logistically running it down Sea Beach makes more sense. Also 45th and 53rd are high ridership stations that could use some extra service (especially when 53rd re-opens).
  3. Oh right, the up Second Ave run "reverse peak" in terms of the UES. Forgot about that. And that makes sense, thanks
  4. Not exactly sure why but just took an down second avenue... also took a Manhattan-bound around this time yesterday.
  5. Oh, is it because only uptown service is available in Lower Manhattan, meaning ®s must be running over the bridge downtown, meaning the switch from the bridge tracks at DeKalb to 4th Ave local will be used?
  6. Is it because the is terminating at Hoyt-Schermerhorn? (Actually, how is that going to work...?)
  7. So the is the only service in Astoria? Seems very inadequate for some high-usage stations.
  8. Also, crews are run internally as crews, so they presumably need to share a terminal... And I don't really know how it would work to have both QBL locals not running on weekends (not to mention that both services are not very reliable or frequent)
  9. So in Phase 2 trains will run to Broadway Junction as well as running a shuttle from Myrtle-Wyckoff to Metropolitan?
  10. Alright, that makes sense. Some track maps aren't very clear about it is all
  11. In a similar vein, how do relays at Forest Hills work? Do trains use the lower-level/yard tracks, or cross over the active, express tracks?
  12. Except that, y'know, there's very little market for a 2nd Av - Williamsburg/Jamaica connection and anyone who wants that can transfer at Canal or, potentially, a Grand St - Bowery complex.
  13. How's the South Ferry terminal coming along? Is it still likely to be opened next month?
  14. Sometimes the conductor will tell you to get out, especially if you're in a car adjacent to them. But it is technically legal, and I've done it many times since they took away the announcement. Just sometimes it takes a little perseverance.
  15. How do they plan to operate Queensboro Plaza as a terminal?
  16. How did the situation with World Trade Center/Chambers St being separate stations come to be? What did the IND think the benefits of that would be?
  17. Maybe the train just has an intense fear of terminals and has to end at the second-to-last stop
  18. Does the ever actually run to Dyre Avenue on weekends? I feel like that service change has been going on forever...
  19. Not at Second Ave though... (And I didn't see any on Sixth Avenue, but I probably just wasn't paying attention.)
  20. Yeah, but there weren't signs in the stations or anything either, and the train crew weren't much help from what I saw.
  21. Ugh, the GO was orchestrated terribly. Both uptown and downtown almost every other rider was very confused... Doesn't help that all Broadway service was f**ked, of course, but still.
  22. They're ridiculously long escalators, to be fair. Isn't in the 4th-deepest station in the system or something?
  23. The problem is that most of these are very well-used stations (excepting the Prospect Park one). They've shied away from doing transfer stations, so Chambers is unfeasible (and that'd take a hell of a lot more than 6 months...) I assume most of these will be in "Phase Two" or whatever - they can only get so much done at once
  24. Hoyt-Schermerhorn surprises me more, though I suppose any switches there wouldn't be very necessary, seeing as the sensible routes (Culver->8th Av and Crosstown -> Fulton) are not the tracks that are next to each other.
  25. From the Bryant Park platform, that doesn't seem to be true. It curves on a strange grade, and there's an indentation in the ceiling towards the north where you can hear a ~4 car train go by (the Shuttle). It's raised in the middle, presumably to allow the to go under.
