  1. Bay Ridge - Queens Plaza runs in two parts - Metropolitan Av to Delancey-Essex and from Jamaica-179th to Northern Blvd (via from 179th to Forest Hills) runs in two parts - WTC to Court Square and Jamaica Center to Roosevelt-74th (running express on QBL) Church Ave - Queens Plaza Coney Island - Queensbridge Buses from Northern Blvd and Jackson Heights to Queens Plaza and Queensboro Plaza via 36th St, Steinway, 46th St stations
  2. You have to understand how bad that would look for the MTA - "Oh yeah, we just happened to stop building this where all the minorities live." Besides, the transfer point at 125 will help us East Siders get to the Bronx much more easily. Besides, these stations are the most efficient use of the MTA's money, which is low enough as it is.
  3. Those are the secondary entrances at Edgar Street, right? The downtown has an exit slightly north of there, but no entrance (presumably because the and other exits work better, and also perhaps because of some logistics relating to the walled-off platform section...
  4. A southbound train at Chambers Street crashes through the wall, ending up blocking the uptown track and rendering the uptown platform at the station impassable. How do you re-route trains? (Stations and tracks affected: Uptown track and downtown track impassable. Uptown platform unsafe for customers, and thus being skipped.)
  5. runs via from 71st Ave to 179th St Terminates at 57th Street - 6th Avenue, with a select few running via the to 96th Street
  6. I have no idea if this is at all feasible, but the Bx12 route would be the most obvious proposition, seeing how well ridden the bus system is. However, I know nothing about the layout of Pelham Parkway (and the other roads it'd travel on), so perhaps this is a dumb idea. I'd also consider it on 3rd Avenue in the Bronx, in the former location of the el.
  7. I do wonder why there hasn't been much discussion about light rail for NYC... I understand this isn't the best city for it, but for areas in Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn currently underserved I could see its appeal...
  8. But isn't it supposed to connect to the at 2nd Ave-Houston? I don't see it switching back from 1st Av to 2nd Av... I think just making a slightly longer transfer at Third Avenue is worth the alternative, a problematic dig directly under houses in a residential area just to make the turn onto 1st Avenue.
  9. Has anyone else noticed that the fantastic track map called "472 Stations, 850 Miles" has disappeared? Anyone know how to find it? The NYCSubway ones are both less up to date and more annoying since you have to choose a specific file...
  10. Of course, the one day I have to take the down to Grand Central... Service Change Posted: 03/21/2017 9:04AM Due to a sick passenger at 125 St, the following service changes are in effect: Southbound trains terminate at 149 St-Grand Concourse. Southbound trains are running on the line from 149 St-Grand Concourse to Nevins St. Expect delays in and train service. Allow additional travel time. Now, I should be okay, since the delays will be worse on the , what with the express merging onto the local track, but still, lower TPH and minimal delays won't be fun.
  11. I do assume this situation will be improved when the new SF terminal re-opens, right? That'd help reduce the headways...
  12. Why bother? Nobody's complaining about it now Besides, with the SAS now stopping at Lex-63rd, it's now a more popular station, and certainly a valuable transfer to have.
  13. "On January 3, 2017, the handful of N trains that short-turned at 57th Street–Seventh Avenue during rush hours were extended to 96th Street using the Second Avenue Subway." You're wrong.
  14. Appears to be this: http://newqa.mta.info/sites/default/files/mta/2017_winterguide_subway_map_b_with_2_av_subway_1-26-17.pdf (From another thread, thanks HenryB)
  15. Where exactly would you be coming from that the fastest way to a train would, hypothetically, be the ? if you're north of 161st, you can take the to Brooklyn Bridge. If you're south of there, you can take the to Fulton. And otherwise, it's more convenient to take the . There's just not much market for this transfer.
  16. As a frequent rider of the SAS, the 57th-7th to 53rd-7th transfer would be to die for. I'd love a reliable connection to the Eighth Avenue Line. Besides, maybe they'd clean up that nasty station (53rd, that is)
  17. Yeah, the switches were too close on either end to extend it a meaningful amount. It really shouldn't, though, since it's slower than the . Although I suppose if everyone took the , there'd be value in taking the since it'd be less crowded
  18. Oh yeah, saw the local/express switch as a cross-track switch, whoops.
  19. Bay Ridge to Chambers Street (via Nassau Line from Broad to Chambers) Astoria to Prince Street Coney Island to Whitehall Street Runs on (F)/(B) 6th Avenue express between 63rd and DeKalb Bus Service serves stations between Whitehall and Canal Extra service on , obviously Terminate at Essex Street Terminates at Grand Central Runs via from 149th to Nevins Terminates at Grand Central Extra Bus Service down Lexington from 42nd to Bowling Green
  20. 14th Street and Court Square would seem to be logical, but they're always packed. Same thing with the Franklin Avenue Shuttle ones (especially the one to the Fulton Line). Borough Hall is a good call, though. The Canal Street - transfer might take it, if we can count specific transfers within a larger station.
  21. Less so than Jamaica Center, South Ferry, and West 8th Street? You think so?
  22. Completely random question, but what do y'all think the least used transfer in the system is? (Excluding local-express and same-track transfers, of course)
  23. Pennsylvania Avenue on the is open again: http://www.mta.info/news/2017/03/03/pennsylvania-av-3-line-station-re-opens
  24. A ferocious storm in Queens knocks out the power to the between Grant Avenue and Rockaway Boulevard (those two stations are fine, but everything between them is unusable). Nearby, on the , a chunk of track between Crescent Street and Cypress Hills is deemed unsafe and impassable.
  25. Yeah, got totally f**ked over by the delay today. Tons of people waiting at 96th without any announcements, only on the digital readout. And had to walk to Lexington in pouring rain...
