The newest stretch of ELs I believe is the N/Q/F tracks at Stillwell. I remember riding out to Stillwell on the Brighton local and those tracks were concrete before the rebuild of the station.

Part of the (J) El between 121 Street and Stuphin Blvd is fairly new. Outside of those two examples most of the ELs in NYC has to be around 90 to 100 years old on average

The connection from the BMT Jamaica Line to the BMT Myrtle Avenue Line used by the (M) just east of Myrtle Avenue station was completed rebuilt from the ground up in 2018 (I think).

Additionally, parts of the Babylon Branch that were grade separated in the 1970s/80s are elevated. There are mostly just short sections at stations to make space for parking below, but there's also a long uninterrupted elevated section between Lindenhurst and Copiague.

Ok so I was looking at the service status of the (J) and on the suspension of service to Jamaica I noticed this paragraph on the bottom

    https://new.mta.info/map/21841

Has anyone tried to do this yet, especially for trips past Jamaica?

A few days ago I was able to ride from Atlantic Terminal to Queens Village with just a MetroCard. I have also used it for a few trips from Atlantic Terminal to Nassau County which required me to change at Jamaica by buying a ticket from Jamaica to wherever my final destination was and using my MetroCard to ride between Jamaica and Atlantic Terminal.

That's normally used when joining the regular (depicted) route.

I can't count how many times I've heard that announcement or its counterpart on trains or in videos.

This usually happens if the (2) or (5) is happening to be arriving at Franklin Av or a few minutes away as the ones that begins their journey to the Bronx at New Lots Av. They respond after leaving Crown Heights-Utica Av.

I heard this in The Bronx on a (5) to Utica Avenue.

It seems like (MTA) is keeping the R211's behind the fence near Costco for the time being, theres no notice posted about SBK being active yet. They are most likely waiting for the other 3 cars to arrive to move them all at once.

The cars are being stored across 2nd Avenue from Costco. This is a picture I took from outside the fence.

Question: Do you still have to pay $2.75 to ride on any SBS lines or no?

I think you're still supposed to. This is because although the farebox is inaccessible, the machines are still working and there is no need to access the farebox anyway.

Another idea is to run the 98 from Suffern to Nycak via Montvale as a south Rockland connector, then have the 99 cross the Tappan Zee to Tarrytown (or run on the tramway that would have bus lanes)

@LaGuardia Link N Tra @B35 via Church @Deucey @OIG119 @engineerboy6561 @Cait Sith @gtNovaBusRTS9369 @EastFlatbushLarry thoughts on the L96's rolling stock? Would DMUs be best, or would it be more feasible to electrify it. If DMUs, which ones?

Perhaps the light rail system could better serve passengers if it had a branch to Nanuet and Spring Valley and/or was extended to White Plains. That might be too much of a HudsonLink duplicate, however.

As for rolling stock DMUs like the Stadler GTWs on River LINE in New Jersey would be most appropriate. I don't think the system would have enough capacity to justify electrification.

I just was on an 32 (A) train that got taken OOS cause the T/O wasn't getting indication. Sucks as the train was crush loaded.. That and I had gotten an 32 (A) both ways traveling to my destination. Only for the train home to crap out at Canal St.

    Still like the 32s though.

I got that same train at Jay St and was going to do a round trip to 207th and back.

Last night, I was riding the (D), and 3 weird things happened:

    1. At 9th Av, I saw an R32 with a (4) designation leading, Franklin Av (S) rollsigns, then a second R32 with a (JFK) Train to the Plane rollsign. After this, there were about 4 work train cars, then another R32 with no designation and another one with a (JFK) designation. It was roughly 10:30 PM.

    2. The (D) ran express from 36th to Atlantic, then stopped at DeKalb (local), then went back to the normal route. Why? Is this a GO relating to the early ending of (B) service?

1: That is a garbage train. The R32s are used to propel the train, and the flatcars carry empty bins which are exchanged for full bins.

2: IINM normally late night (D) service makes local stops on 4th Avenue, and also stops at DeKalb.

This is supposed to be released this month... Either it's coming May 31st, or it'll be late and released in June... <_<

That wouldn't be much of a surprise. It seems that whenever the MTA announces that somthing will be completed, started, or released by a particular month it always comes at the end of the month. The countdown clocks on the Brighton Line were supposed to come in October 2017, and went into service on October 30th. Phase 1 of the Second Avenue Subway was supposed to open in December 2016, and opened on January 1st 2017.
