  1. I agree with you there railfans and formers are just gonna need to just deal with the fact that train cars don’t last forever. For the R262s you think they will be going on to the 42nd Street since they have R62/As
  2. Impressive I didn’t even know that they was 67 foot long train cars. I did some math and saw that 67x9=603 maybe the mta could consider build a prototype R211 67 foot long 9 car set. But extending it to 670 foot long would definite benefit. What would the inside of the train car loom like. I think we should talk more about this in the fleet swap conversation
  3. The case for a new Northern Blvd line So the reason why I bring this up is because as we all know that the 7 train is a very crowded train line. I would love to see the G train extended back to queens blvd this will certainly help some riders it won’t do anything for the majority of riders looking to get to Manhattan. and unfortunately even with CBTC there just isn’t the space for that. When the 2nd Avenue line get build I feel as if they should a direct queens line connecting to it the queens blvd and Astoria line doesn’t have enough capacity. Queens is in dire need of better subway service The only way to make a meaningful and substantial improvement to congestion in Queens is more subways. MTA needs to seriously look at new capacity in a bigger way then it has for the last 30 years. A line that would definitely take some pressure off the 7 train would be a new northern blvd line. Northern Blvd is wide enough for a 4 track subway but I believe 3 tracks would do just as good as well and would greatly reduce subway congestion at Jackson Heights for both the IND Queens Blvd Line and the IRT Flushing Line 7 train. It would be a duel Manhattan and crosstown branch line The first part of this plan would be to expand the current 2nd Avenue plan. I propose building phase 3 with express tracks where a new line would branch using the existing 63rd street tunnel. The reasoning why I propose Northern Blvd/2nd Ave express trains using the 63rd St tunnel. Is that It would allow would allow riders coming from 6th Ave, Queens blvd, Hillside the chance to easily transfer to the 2nd Ave Subway. Both tunnels would meet at a new station in Sunnyside Yards and continue as 4 tracks east under Northern Blvd. On court square the tracks would be connected to the tracks of northern blvd allowing for the G train to be extended via Northern Blvd The crosstown G train would branch out to Whitestone expressway and run to college point blvd. The Manhattan i name it either H train or K train 2nd Avenue Express. I’m proposing to connect it to the Rockway Branch line. It conclusion this line would feature an extended crosstown G train and a new 2nd Avenue line I like the K train name but H train would be more symbolic to rockway riders.
  4. I choose the Fulton street connection because it’s less likely to piss people off. Reworking the Manhattan and Williamburg bridges connections will take a long ass time and disturb service for years on end all for what so that a few people could get to midtown quicker?! They are many people that live off of the 6th Avenue lines in south Brooklyn. Removing the Nassau street from Williamsburg is already a red flag itself since that’s cutting off riders from lower Manhattan. Have y’all seen the reroutings on 6th ave service if the B\D trains get removed from the Manhattan Bridge the entire 6th Avenue service would get screwed every time reroutes are needed since the current lay out for rerouting allow for trains to go to Coney Island either way. Example: F train via West End and D train via Culver. The 2nd ave line is taking long enough as it is. We do not need to shut down more services just for a swap with irreversible damage. Jamaica line can’t handle 75 foot long train cars and it’s not worth shutting down the line which pisses off riders. If necessary we should extend a 2nd ave line via a new tunnel to Williamburg on a completely separate line. PS you be pissing off a lot of grand Concourse/ Central Park west riders trying to get to Coney Island in the process. The BMT Eastern Division is very historical people love the J/Z via Jamaica and the M train via Myrtle Avenue why you think the MTA eliminated the V train. Cause riders wanted the M train. And not to mention this project would be expensive as hell. There are no benefits of 2nd Avenue running via Manhattan bridge. Riders never have a problem with the 6th Avenue on the Manhattan bridge. Splitting the Jamaica into two is a huge no no. I’m just saying that this plan would force riders to use multiple transfers that they didn’t had to before. The ideal for 2nd Avenue is to reduce crowding on the Lexington Avenue line and build new lines in outer boroughs. Not ruin service
  5. The R211s 4 car set debate is an interesting idea. I propose two different scenarios of this happening The R143 exchange program The R143s are in good condition so they shouldn’t be retired instead the R143s would be reassigned to the G train while the L trains get the R211s The R179 lemon failure We all know that The R179s have been screwing up left and right. I believe one more major screw up like that and the entire R179s fleet will likely have to be prematurely retired much like the R44s and replaced by a special 4 car set R211s for the L train and the R143s and R160s go to the J/Z and M trains.
  6. What trains would you recommend the R211s and R262s go to and why
  7. Here’s a question why do people want the SAS on the Manhattan bridge. Whats do y’all got against the current layout. Why do y’all hate the on Williamburg it’s very historical people never had a problem with this layout. South Brooklyn likes 6th Avenue and Broadway services. North Brooklyn likes the Nassau street via and 6th Avenue via What’s wrong with a Fulton street connection it would be much cheaper
  8. Here’s a question why do people want the SAS on the Manhattan bridge. Whats do y’all got against the current layout What’s wrong with a Fulton street connection it would be much cheaper
  9. And with the R262 I believe they should go to the The fleet unchanged and the would get the R142s reason for this. The share the same equipment they basically twin brothers/sisters and they are both CROWDED. sure the are packed but that’s NOTHING compared to the they are by far the 2nd/3rd busiest IRT subway routes the only IRT route busier than them are the That’s just me.
  10. And for the R262s order I believe that the 1 4 and 6 trains will receive these cars. And the 3 train will get the R142s. The common misconception will new rolling stock is that people believe they will directly replace the oldest train. Now just because the R211s and R262s are replacing the R44s R46s R62s and maybe R68s it doesn’t that they will only go on to the routes with the exact equipment. It could be an indirect replacement. Just saying I loved those older models but Boy when the R46s begin to retire we will then see the CLEAR DIFFERENCE with “real” railfans and “toxic” railfans”🤦🤦‍♂️ no offense intended but just being brutally honest here. By the way Im referring to the mature railfans AKA the true fans that wants what best for the MTA and want to see it actually improve Reliability and like train certain models but are mature and accept the fact that they won’t last forever and will need to retire soon. And sometimes they even come up with proposals to help out riders and customers of the MTA even if some “sacrifices” are necessary. And the inmature railfans that complain about the equipment retiring and tries to demand that the old equipment stays for all of eternity just for forming. They also demand that useless defunct train routes be restored for no good reason other than to film it. You know the fans that demand the R32s and R42s come back. Just saying I’m worried that people will begin to rage and complain like it’s 2003 2008 and 2009 when the R211s replace the R46s and maybe R68s.
  11. Would the Or as I like to nickname it the Coney Island gang get the R211s as well. Now I know this might make the MTA look stupid and fleet swap look pointless but I believe there’s a fair chance that the R211s will go to Queens Blvd Squad nickname for the is also a member but it also uses 8 cars Cause I believe that queens blvd will likely want the “newest” train car fleet operating there with the CBTC system and the R211s has more capacity. If this happens then as least 50% of R160s on queens blvd will be reassigned to different train routes. For example 40% of R160s from the E train would go to the Q train 50% of R160s from the F train would go the B/D trains 20% of R160s from the R train would go the N/W trains that one scenario of the order happening But if all of the R160s Queens Blvd Squad were sent to the Coney Island Gang then they would be a benefit the would get their R160s back and the FINALLY gets New Tech Train cars. Well I feel the R68s/R68As should be replaced since it’s said they will remain in service until 2025–2030. Any thoughts about this
  12. Here’s a question will the R211s go to queens blvd

  14. Um why’s that the 2 train been running to Wakefield for years. The 2 and 5 trains also shares the same equipment so just leave the 2/3 train layout the way it is.
  15. my proposal to fix IRT Bronx I bringing this up cause 149th Street junction where the 2 and 5 trains meet; 5 trains must negotiate a wicked S-curve between the 138th Street and 149th Street – Grand Concourse stations. The sharpness of the curve restricts the 5 train’s speed, which causes delays. So what’s I’m proposing is a new alignment would remedy the bottleneck, The 5 train merge would be rebuilt so it would occur between Grand Concourse and 3rd Ave stations so that the curve of the tunnel would allow for much faster/smoother merges. Service on the White Plains Rd Line (2/5 trains) would be sped up. Not necessarily but optional: another minor change I would make is has the 2 and 5 trains switch terminals The 2 train would take over the Dyre Avenue line The 5 train would take over the Wakefield line. Reasoning for this switch, The White Plains Road branch is about 4.5 miles long with 10 stations, while the Dyre Avenue branch is about 4 miles long with 5 stations. I believe that the peak way express service would be more efficient on the train line with the longer route and the interface at 180 street the wakefield tracks leads directly to the express track and the dyre Avenue tracks leads directly to the local tracks An additional benefit is When the 5 runs express south of East 180th Street, it no longer has to cross over the local tracks to reach the center track. For IRT Brooklyn Let’s face it The Rogers Avenue junction will NEVER be perfect so I just leave that unchanged. This plan would allow for better service in Bronx while keeping the sacred west side access via 7th Avenue and east side access via Lexington Avenue. What do you think
  16. The main problem with using Nassau street stations is the curves would slow trains down. And that would either require the to be strictly reduced to 8 cars or expanding all Nassau street platforms to 10 cars which would be very tricky and expensive but cheaper than building a new phase.
  17. I meant to say does everyone know how to make MTA maps on iPads
  18. Yeah at this point the it’s only worth it to bring back the V train is if it runs via the 2nd Avenue line
  19. The 2nd Avenue history of failures and regrets We cannot denied the fact the current 2nd ave plan It’s filled with wasted potential LEFT and RIGHT. I mean the biggest flaw is that there no express tracks HECK they isn’t even a third track that could be used for emergencies. If something goes wrong on a 3-4 track line while it would cause delays as least the train can be rerouted to the local or express tracks Meanwhile if something goes wrong at one station on a 2 track line THE ENTIRE LINE is screwed up. They didn’t even try to make room for the express tracks to be added later. At the very least they could have make a plan that don’t require express tracks to be build immediately but allows for them to be added later My only hope is that AT LEAST midtown will be build with provisions for express tracks. Further more it infamously know for being UNNECESSARY EXPENSIVE. Phase 1 alone costed $4.45 billion. LET THAT SINK IN. 3 stations alone costed 4.45 billion dollars. The MTA should’ve not gotten rid of the 3rd Avenue elevated line. It could’ve instead been converted to IND saving BILLIONS OF DOLLARS in a Bronx expansion of 2nd Avenue. But nope. And now the 3rd Ave corridor is paying the awful price for that mistake. phase 3 is going to be expensive no matter what so their is no point in trying to half ass it to be cheap. Phase 4 for example will cost 1 billion dollars per station. YET it’s isolated from the rest of lower Manhattan. SERIOUSLY so we just wasting money on a phase that won’t even be connected to the rest of the network. I posted this on another post but here The 2nd ave line won’t add any new captivity to the system, as matter of fact the current plan for 2nd Av LITERALLY REQUIRES riders to use multiple stairs long corridors and transfer to multiple train routes Phase 1-2 is ok Phase 3 is Poorly designed Phase 4 is kinda unnecessary and might not even need to exist Not to mention that the current plan only helps people in the east side of Manhattan travel a bit better. It does practically NOTHING for riders from The Bronx Queens or Brooklyn. And we can’t even connect the 2nd Avenue line to the existing system without pissing certain people off. For example connecting the 2nd Avenue line to the Manhattan Bridge and running it to Coney Island while it might take some pressure off the Lexington Avenue lines will likely have to be at the expense of losing 6th Avenue service to south Brooklyn. Routing the 6th Avenue Express to Williamburg will likely require Nassau st to be removed. Seeing how many riders will be pissed off at this changes and the unnecessary shutdowns and price neeeded for this project it’s not worth it. Connecting 2nd Avenue line to Nassau street will likely have to end at chambers street cause J/Z riders would lose access to lower Manhattan if it ran to broad street So the only place in Brooklyn 2nd Avenue could go without enraging people is Euclid Avenue via Fulton street Local. Queens well. I feel I new trunk line will need to be build and route a 2nd Ave line there. Cause routing it to queens blvd would either need for one service to be removed or for the Rockway branch to be reactived. I would also like to build a south 3rd street line in Williamsburg routing a 2nd Ave line there. And I would want to connect 2nd Ave to culver Line. And for Bronx the 3rd Avenue line also needs to come back. It could be 3 tracks. But I prefer 4 tracks for maximum capacity.

  21. Thanks for this great feedback You make a EXCELLENT point there the W train definitely needed to return. The interlining may be bad today but it was EVEN worse in 2010-2016. So the W trains return was kinda like a semi deinterling zone on prince street. I would love to see rush hour W train extended to bay parkway via west end. Maybe that could help support the R train Yes the former brown M train was empty. EVEN DURING RUSH HOURS. I still do not know why railfans are demanding to bring back a useless defunct train route just look at the measures these idiots are willing to go🤦‍♂️🤦:https://www.change.org/p/mta-help-bring-back-the-mta-v-train Listen railfans and Formers we know y’all hate change but ITS TIME YALL MOVED ON AND LET GO. The brown M train and V train are gone FOREVER. At this point the only way the V train will EVER come back is if the 2nd Avenue line is expanded to Queens Brooklyn and/or the Bronx. The orange M train with a serious alternative needed for the crowded L train. Yeah the M train is definitely gonna stay on the 6th Avenue line. The MTA will not bring back useless defunct train routes just to satisfy nostalgia fanboys. If you ask me. They should just be GRATEFUL the MTA decided to bring back the W train. Perhaps we overestimated the realible of the G train on queens blvd. It’s was kinda a waste to have the G train run on queens blvd when the demand to midtown Manhattan was much higher I also wonder if the G train could be extended to the Bronx creating a subway triboro line
  22. Why are they even considered budget cuts riders actually BENEFITED from the quote of quote “budget cuts” themselves The Jamaica/Myrtle Avenue line got a one seat ride to midtown via the M train. Taking pressure off the L train. The Q train riders got a one seat ride to queens And my opinion on train lines that got effected in 2010 G train via Queens Blvd: Well it was great and the G train getting cut back to court square definitely contributed to its downfall people lost that one seat ride to queens and Brooklyn. W train: Let’s be honest The W train was nothing but a waste of space since 2004 when Manhattan bridge project was finished. It was basically N trains running local in Manhattan and on a shorter route. The 2nd ave line opening actually gave the W train a purpose on Astoria and Manhattan V train: It was a decent train line. Although It was basically F trains running local in queens and on a shorter route to Manhattan. The. Train was pretty much annexed into the M train in 2010. Think of the modern day M train as an extended V train. The V train isn’t needed anymore when coming to the bottom line with how much people like the new M train route better seeing how the M train does a better job with midtown access in midtown the V train has NO MORE purpose on the 6th Avenue line Brown M train: to be perfectly honest the Brown M train was very useless I mean it was basically J train running via Myrtle ave line. And it’s basically a glorified shuttle outside rush hours. Back then The majority of riders often transfer to delanacy st Essex st for F train service to get to midtown. Well the only major downside of the M rerouting is that M train riders did lose one seat ride to lower Manhattan and during rush hours southern Brooklyn , and even that isn’t really a loss especially when you consider the fact that Williamburg is demanding more midtown service lower Manhattan has a lower ridership Heck at Broadway Junction a handful of J/Z riders tracer to the A/C and/or L trains to get to midtown and in southern Brooklyn basically no one went EVEN DURING rush hours the trains were nearly empty and if they really want to get to lower Manhattan they can just transfer to the J/Z train. The J/Z aren’t even crowded so it doesn’t justify bring back the Brown M train. You would be pissing off a lot of Williamsburg and Bushwick riders that want to get to midtown In conclusion the M and V train merge was a great idea. Railfans and Formers just need to accept the fact that the V and brown M trains are gone FOREVER. Let’s all be happy that the W train is back. But don’t lose hope yet. Maybe the V train could come back as a additional 2nd Avenue line. The brown M train is overrated I mean the Orange M train gets way too much hate UNNECESSARY HATE for that matter. Seriously The M train could be faster yes, The main reason for the hatred is because they either want the V and brown M trains back, or cause it ran in a loop and it ran in queens twice. Well the BROWN M TRAIN RAN IN BROOKLYN TWICE. So that’s just plain hypocritical. I mean the M train HELPS Northern Brooklyn get to midtown for CRYING OUT LOUD
