  1. With all of this being said, do you see the being discontinued in the near future?
  2. Lol, it's so true though. Just look how long it has taken them to build the 2nd Ave. Subway; And it's still only Phase 1. It will likely be at least 100 years before we ever have a chance of seeing a Utica Ave. Subway line, if even that. And that's assuming we ever actually see one.
  3. Thanks for this. These allotments make sense as it would allow Queens to go Orion-free (on the NYCT side of course). But as we know things are always subject to change; I'm curious to see how this ultimately plays out. Thanks as well. I know I said I would respond in Fleet & Depots; but since you posted, I decided to just do it here.
  4. It's possible that Jamaica may receive more than 60 units. Castleton was originally planned to get 20 units from the 2022 order; but those plans were changed from what I heard. It looks like the entire 2022 LFS order will now be heading into Queens. Side note: this discussion should be moved to the Fleet & Depots thread, And that is where I will post any future responses to this topic here.
  5. I rode the r62 twice last week; It was a pretty interesting experience. Still kinda bummed I missed out on the r62 though a few months back; especially knowing they were once a very common sight for many years on that line. Hopefully I'll have another chance to catch it in the future while I'm still in NYC.
  6. The 245 bus artic order could entirely replace the 2012-13 XD60s (4710-4799) and a portion of the 2011-13 Nova LFS order. Since they're all roughly the same age, it will depend on which buses are in the worst shape.
  7. No problem, but you gotta make sure your info is accurate b4 you post. The same goes for other posters here; pls do not report any units as retired until you know for sure that it is actually retired.
  8. They're supposed to, but I don't wanna get my hopes up too high as the deadline's already been pushed back many times. Hopefully it's for real this time.
  9. I can relate to this here as I currently work at a supermarket. You pretty much said it all here so I'm not sure there's much for me to add right now.
  10. Cool photo. By the way, the open gangway cars are called the R211T.
  11. So you're saying that since it's a smaller order that means it's not worthy of giving updates on? I'm not understanding this logic here.
  12. What's your point? He was just giving a status update on the 2022 XD40 order's progress.
  13. I can say that I've personally witnessed a train of r160s pull into the station covered in graffiti. And even after it's cleaned off, you can still see the leftover residue around the window rims. So yes, those cars ofc have their own issues; but to me those conditions are still not as severe as the ones found on the line fleet. The main issue here in general is exterior cleanliness; but in the case of the Adtranz pack (R142A/188 & R143), those are also fleet issues. The R142As are okay sometimes but other times they can be pretty bad, especially when they run constantly with little time for maintenance. That is why I feel when the r262s come in, they should put 7591-7810 on the line so they'll be able to get more rest . I know this is years down the line, but that's what I think should happen when the time comes.
  14. Well considering they don't have the best cars to work with, that wouldn't be surprising if true.
  15. Well what I talked about at the end had more to do with the specs of the car fleets. The specs that the R142A/188s & R143s are built to is what makes them inferior to the other fleets. I'm sure the r160s will continue to hold up well, especially better than the aforementioned fleets. That's because they're based out of Corona yard/barn, which has a great record for maintenance. That's what is saving those cars; otherwise they'd be just as sh!tty as 7591-7810 currently is on the . The r142s & r160s are the best cars in the NTT fleet. They outperform the other fleets in their respective divisions, regardless of where they're assigned to. That shows just how well the cars turned out.
  16. Trust me I've seen & been on those lines many times, and they still don't look as bad as the line. Maybe their r142s are equally as bad as the East NY fleet, but their r142As easily take the cake for having the worst aesthetic appearance; Those cars look & operate like they have one foot in the subway grave (a.k.a. the scrapyard). The R142A/188 & R143 are the worst fleets in the NTT family; the r142s, r160s & even the r179s are far better. I like all these cars, but the truth is the truth.
  17. Is it safe yet to say that the Orion7 NG era at East NY is officially over now?
  18. From my observation, I would have to agree. The line in general is the biggest eyesore in the system when it comes to exterior cleanliness. I hope something gets done about it soon.
  19. Yes they do; both the & the share their equipment with the .
  20. Likely 'cause the already had to share them with the , especially before the r179s arrived. Even now, they still appear on the on an as-needed basis.
  21. It looks like you confused the Jamaica Line with Jamaica yard. Ofc we all know the is the least used along Queens Blvd; in Brooklyn however it's a slightly different story. In my experience and observation I would say the is pretty equal to the ridership-wise. If the has higher ridership than the in brooklyn, that would mean there are more ppl at the local stops than the express stops. Most riders tend to go for the express train when they have access to one, so I'm not sure how accurate this statement is; but who knows, these lines may see bigger increases in ridership due to the continued gentrification of BKLYN.
  22. It would be very interesting if they really did that.
